State Farm Insurance Reviews

Negligence and unprofessionalism
On 3/23/08 a theft occurred. My 2002 Chevy Tahoe was stolen from my residence 1401 Santo Antonio Dr.Colton, CA 92324. I immediately contacted the police department, filed a police report: case#089104648. I proceeded to contact my insurance, State Farm. A claim representative took the facts down and assigned my claim to Jan Guirgis in which she contacted me and went over the facts again. She sent me an affidavit in which I properly filled out, sent it back with enclosed receipts of the after market parts/accessories. Jan Guirgis contacted me once again to go over the facts and record the said. I feel she was aggressive, unprofessional, and she confused me with numerous questions that were irrelevant with this claim, like asking me if i get paid cash or with check?, and repeatedly threatened me. Under no circumstances was I comfortable with the conversation. We were repeatedly arguing with each other. Jan Guirgis pressured me for answers in which I didn't remember. A month and 3 weeks have gone by, I contacted Jan Guirgis demanding to be briefed on the status of my claim, "I'm getting around handling your claim" in a rudely manner and hung up the phone. On 7/10/2008 I contacted another State Farm representative, Nancy at 562-923-7791, to get answers. Also bringing up the fact that I made 3 payments to the premium with no car and no claim result. Nancy didn't have any answers for me, Nancy would call Jan Guirgis looking for answers then call me back, upto this day she has yet to call me back. Exhausted on 7/15/2008 I took it into my hands and called State Farm Corp. Office and spoke to Travis. I proceeded to explain the facts and the wrong doing, the lack of responsibility to fulfill customers obligation and unprofessional staff members. Travis took down my complaint and said he was going to pursue it. Same day Jan Guirgis contacted Elisabed Ramirez, who is also in the policy to go over the incident, in which Ms. Ramirez has no knowledge what so ever. Rudely spoke to her on her working hours, constantly threatened her that the claim will be rejected if she didn't comply with very intimidating words. Ms. Ramirez is under emotional distress which by no means she's in the right state of mind to answer any confusing question Jan may ask her. this claim has caused me overwhelming stress with signs of nervous breakdowns. I, Rolando Parra, have exhausted all means necessary to resolve this claim in a timely and professional matter and State Farm has been negligent in helping me resolve this claim. My last options before i take legal actions, is file a complaint with California Departments of Insurances/ BBB/ Consumers Affairs, and writing a letter to the CEO of State Farm, Edward B. Rust Jr.

Will not pay claims
Like others I have had State Farm refuse to cover losses. I had insurance with them for more than five years. Auto, Home, Life insurance in all 8 policies. I had hail damage and reported it. First they assigned an adjuster in the wrong area and had to start over. Then I get an adjuster who said I had no damage other than three singles damaged. (more singles than that were on the ground). At first we dropped it until we noticed that EVERY neighbor around us were having their roofs replaced. I spoke to each of the who told me their insurance was replacing their roof for hail damage. My sister who lives one street over reported her roof and State Farm said no hail damage. I asked my agent why everyone around me had hail damage and I didn't. He said there must have been a hole in the hail storm that missed my house. The only thing in common with the houses that got their roof replaced? They did not have State Farm Insurance. One lady in our neighborhood did not know she had hail damage until she received a check from Farm Bureau Insurance, they told her since others they covered in the area had hail damage they had come and checked her roof on their own. (now that is good neighbor service).

My story doesn't end their, to protect me, my agent instead of resubmitting my claim (he told me it would make me look like I was trying to get paid for nothing) he sent out a roofer to check my roof. He called me later to say my roof was fine and had no damage at all. I was in the process of selling my house, so that is what I was concerned with and let it drop. The buyers were told a roofer said roof was fine and asked to speak with the roofer. I was happy to provide the information knowing he would tell them everything was fine. Imagine my surprise when I was informed by the buyers that the roofer told them not only was their major structural damage to my roof and leaks but that I had already been told about and was I lying to them. When I called my insurance agent he was not apologetic for being dishonest, he was to busy telling me about how much money he personally spent on repairs at this house. He asked me what I thought he could do, I suggested repairing the roof as he was paid to do. He said insurance did not pay for structural damage (there wasn't any just incompetent roofer) or leaks that had been let go. I pointed out that if State Farm had repaired the roof when first notified the leak would have been fixed. I canceled all my policies and moved them to Allstate.

I want this company exposed!
I was involved in a three car accident, not at fault. I was standing still inside a parking lot exit waiting for traffic to pass. A Domino's Pizza driver insured by State Farm hit a car on the street and that car collided with my car (still standing still in the parking lot). My car was a total loss.

I was traumatized as my vehicle was t-boned on the driver's side. I saw the car about to hit me and felt my spine bend noticeably toward the right and snap back into place during the collision. I experienced the usual aches and pains. After sending me a small check for auto repairs, which I did not accept, State Farm agreed that the auto was a total loss and paid me for the car. However, throughout the experience I was treated rudely and disrespectfully by State Farm staff.

I am in the process of trying to settle the "pain and suffering" issue without hiring attorneys and claiming a lot of injuries. I continue to be treated rudely and disrespectfully to the point that their tone has been accusatory and noticeably attempting to intimidate!

At the age of 53, I have never experienced such appalling treatment by representatives of a professional organization. I would like this behavior investigated further. These people need to be stopped. Their training and customer service practices are disgraceful!

I WANT THIS COMPANY EXPOSED!

No rental car provided
My car was parked in a parking lot- one of there insured hit my car in the side -my car has a dent in the door-Its still drivable-it has a dent in the door. State Farm wants to total my car -make me get a salvage title- it has a dent in the door-because my car is a1991 Chevy Corisa- because its an older car -I need my car to go to work-never married-have no children - I need my car-why can't they send me a check to get the dent in the door fixed-instead of making me go through all this unnecessary crap. They won't give me a rental car while the dent is being fixed-it's like I'm being punished and I didn't do anything. It's my car. Why and how can they do this to people- I don't have insurance with them and it's like nobody will help me. Please help me.

State farm takes your money but doesn't pay!
If you use State Farm Insurance run, don't walk, to another company fast! They take your money but give you every hassle in the book when it comes to paying.

They won't follow up on collision claims when you have your car repaired under collision insurance. They say they will go after other driver and get ur deductible back, but they do nothing but send you a letter about 6 months later saying "sorry we aren't going to pursue this any more". If you get hit by an uninsured/underinsured driver, forget state farm giving you anything. A scratch and they will total your car then offer you less than 10% of its actual worth. They low ball all costs on claims. Get ur roof torn up in a hail storm, State Farm will declare there is no damage and you will have to fight them for months to get ur roof repaired. Then they will swear that any price is too high. On liability they will hang you out to dry. I was with them 20+ years and should have quit them 15 years before, I kept thinking that it was just a one time thing, that they would be better next time. Don't fool yourself, they have been sued by more Attorney Generals in more states than I can count. They have very deceptive practices and continue to have them. If you idea of a good neighbor is someone who will harass you, make noise all night, destroy your property and steal from you, then state farm is a good neighbor.
