Ripped-off on the internet, My husband & I flew from BC, Canada to Raleigh, NC on March 12/09 to pickup a tiny 12wk.old Chihuahua puppy with health certificate to fly. We paid the breeder $3, 500.US. for my puppy. Jitterbug was my dream puppy. Full grown she was to be under 2lbs. a true pocket puppy. In the 4wks. I owned Jitterbug, with every oz. she gained, she become less active, refusing to walk much. Worried I took her into my vet. By now Jitterbug was losing the use of her legs. My vet diagnosed her with 1).Severe hydrocephalus 2). Atlantoaxial instability (C1-C2) congenital abnormalities. My vet informed me that the only humane option was euthanasia. I was devastated! My heart broke. Jitterbug was my dream puppy. She had stolen my heart. It was so hard to say goodbye. I wanted so badly for someone to pinch me, and wake me up from this horrible dream. The breeder then informed me, that I was to have call her first. And of informed her of the puppy's condition. And it was her option, not mine, to have the puppy euthanized. And she would not of euthanized her. Even if all the puppy could do was lay there paralyzed. She informed me that because of that, I broke her puppy agreement. That I was to of flown my very sick (dying) puppy back to her from BC, Canada to Raleigh, NC. But no vet could of legally given a health certificate to fly a sick (dying) puppy back across the Canadian/US border. The breeder then requested my puppy's corpse. Again I informed her that it is illegal to ship a dead animal across the Canadian/US border. My hands were tied! The breeder then refused refund my $3, 500.US. And dared me to sue her. The breeder said my vet's diagnosis was wrong. She informed me, that she has been a Chihuahua breeder for 17yrs. That she knows more about Chihuahua's then any vet's do. If this is true, and she is so knowledgeable about Chi's, then why did she sell me such a very sick puppy for $3, 500.US? My vet did tried to contact the breeder. But had to leave a message on her answering machine. To this day the breeder has not called my vet back. The breeder informed me that she doesn't believe my vet. That her diagnosis is wrong. I informed her that two vet's diagnosed Jitterbugs condition, not just one. I sent her X-ray's, vet's report and the youtube video of my Chi puppy. But she said it didn't matter they were wrong. This has been a heart wrenching horrible experience buying on the internet from a breeder. Knowing that it would be hard for me to do so financially, and time wise across the US/Canadian border. So I just need to warn consumers of this lying, dishonest chi breeder. I was truly RIPPED-OFF!
