FREE IT ISN'T
Advertised as free, but when you try to use it, they want you to pay for it and that is not mentioned in the "false advertising"

fake antiVirus program
Beware of STOPZilla. It is a fake AntiVirus program. The program will do a fake scan of your computer and creates fake infection reports of malware, trojans, and viruses. You are lured into purchasing the program to remove the infection. But there are no infections actually residing on your pc. After install it takes over your computer and opens pc ports to send your confidential info back to a data center. Fake scans will follow weekly. STOPZilla will automatically bill your credit card $40 next year without your approval. They even track credit card number changes. IF you have bought the program, warn your credit card company to block subsequent billing.
STOPzilla routinely submits fake people names and reports of how good the program performs. Don't believe them. You will regret ever dealing with STOPzilla.

bait and switch upsale
Having used STOPzilla on my PC for a number of years, I decided to re-activate it after having let the license lapse. I ordered it on-line but when I tried to use the new registration key, I got a message it was invalid. So I called customer support, got a prompt answer to my call from a technician who remained courteous throughout our next 10 hours on the phone (2 sessions) although between his accent and our digital phone distortion, I had a hard time understanding him. He quickly started a session that took over my computer and we could carry on a text dialog. After 5 hours the first night and no progress, around 1:30 AM I begged off so I'd be ready for my day job. He promised to call me the next afternoon to continue working on the problem. He did call me the next evening about four hours later than planned and worked on it for another 3 and a half hours at which time he indicated my computer was so slow and he could get it fixed to be as good as new for a price. (My PC is 10 years old and has an 18 GB C drive so its potential is somewhat limited at best. My iMac is doing a good job replacing it.) I told him I was only trying to get virus protection, not redo my PC. He warned me of the potential terrible consequences that could befall my PC if it weren't tended to, but in the end we agreed that it was a lost cause. Today I called customer service to request the registration key invoice be cancelled. The service representative was business like and prompt in arranging for the cancellation. Although I didn't get quite the high pressure sell-up by the service technician, the scam pattern of substituting a thorough PC inspection and fix rather than making STOPzilla work that others have noted was there.

Scam
Yesterday I had a rotten experience with STOPzilla that cost me several hundred dollars and about 3 hours of time. This morning I have been looking through the complaints on this and other forums and am now convinced that STOPzilla is operating a confidence scam.

I downloaded STOPzilla to repair a couple of infections that I had found and I did this because their advertising indicated that their product removed viruses. Although I successfully bought the product and down loaded it the liciense key provided did not work. Their site claimed a live chat technical support, but no-one was there so I sent an urgent email (that no-one has responded to 16 hrs later). Eventually I decided to call their tech support on the number supplied. Living in Australia I had to call either UK or USA, I called UK as it is cheaper and I thought that this should take less than 10 mins. They answered the call very quickly which was good, but I did get a guy who didn't speak english too well and it took over 20 minutes just to communicate my e-mail address and telephone number. An hour later he had got the liciense key to work.

As soon as this issue was sorted he launched into a search through my system ending up in Event Viewer (about 40 hazards and attn) which led to an anouncement in much better english that my system was on the edge of failing and that STOPzilla V5 was never going to fix it. He did, however, have a solution which was to pay up $210 and a microsoft certified engineer would leap to attention and fix it in less than half an hour. My response was sceptical, if it had taken a couple of hours to give them my e-mail address, sort out a liciense key that should have available without spending money on tech support and so have a scan of the system, why would it take such little time for a fix?
Throughout my questioning the techy got more and more animated with regards the dangerous condition of my PC and his english also progressively improved.
My point was that I had already invested $50 for a virus remover (advertised at $34.50 but bundled with something else) and $150 on the phone to make it work. STOPzilla had already miss informed me of the ability of its product and the simple issue of a liciense key had taken alot of time and resource to resolve, why should I believe that a further investment of $210 would result in a sucessful repair. I could get a GEEK to drive round and fix the thing in my house for $99 and I would only have to pay if they were successful.

The evidence I have experienced is that the STOPzilla V5 product is designed to get you to contact the support team who's job it is to convince you that your system is in immediate and significant danger so that you buy a premium but unnecessary product.

Automatic renewal
I signed up for stopzilla once due to a problem with my computer. The software worked as far as I could tell. However, the next year I got charge on my credit card for automatic renewal for one more year, for which I did not recollect signing up. I complained to my credit card, who inquired with stopzilla, and advised me that the charge was legitimate and to contact the vendor for details. I called stopzilla and I was advised that "I should have read their terms and conditions before downloading because the terms and conditions clearly tell you that by downloading you are agreeing to pay for automatic renewals each year". I was also told that if you do not agree to this condition, you cannot download the program.
So, I was stupid enough not to read their terms and conditions thoroughly (cannot remember how small the print was and how long it was, and where this particular condition was hidden) and I have ended up paying for a renewal.
This is just to warn anyone who decides to download this product of this condition the vendor has, and to expect a charge 12 months from the download. And there is nothing you can do about reversing this charge.

Clever deceptional scam thrilla
After calling Stopzilla Tech support and spending about 1 hour with a techy (Bnola) he tells me that I cannot re-install Stopzilla due to a lack of resources caused by infectious malware that has been on my computer for years. Why did I buy this again? Next, he tells me that the only way to fix it is to spend $400 so that his MS certified techy can fix it. His Supervisor AJ (aka salesman) comes on tries to terrify me thinking that the malware hackers are about to take over my PC any day now. BTW, they never fixed the original problem. They convinced me that they are nothing but a vehicle to extract cash from unsuspecting PC challenged individuals. Good luck getting your money back if you buy into this clever scam.

it is a scam
I signed up for Stopzilla Antivirus at $59. A few days later, my computer was infected and I cannot use it. I called the company. They said that what infected the computer was not something their antivirus could fix. I asked what they do fix then. They then said if I paid $209, they would fix it. They put the interfering elements on my computer and then wanted to charge to fix it. I do hope there is some way to keep them from doing this to people. I see complaints about them all over the internet.
