Customer Service
I made two web purchases of phones and service from Straight Talk. I received an email confirmation for the first phone purchase, but not for the second. So, I called Straight Talk (at 11:00am on 5-19-10), and reach a "customer service representative" (Mina) who, after I asked her a question, proceeds to hang-up on me. A few minutes later, I called back and went directly into hold. I waited for a while, and then decided to see how long it would take Straight Talk to answer my call. I waited for 46 minutes and 10 seconds before I had to hang-up and run some errands in town. Called back at 12:30pm, and I've been waiting now for 1 hour and 20 minutes...and I'm STILL waiting. Normally, I would not wait on hold for this long, but there is no other way to contact Straight Talk- aside from snail mail- and I need to check on just what charges they have or have not processed. Their hold message keeps telling me over and over how important my call is to them, but after holding now for over two hours between the two calls, I am certain that my call cannot be that "important" to them.
Needless to say, Customer Service is not a strong concern for this company. They appear to be like so many other American corporations- cut corners so that we can provide only a nominal "service" and then place what profit they can muster into the accounts of their management team. Disgraceful.
If you're looking for cellphone service with no contract entanglements, do yourself a big favor and look elsewhere.

cannot activate
i just bought a straight talk phone. i cannot activate it. i have already registered it and loaded the minutes onto it via internet. i called the ONLY cutomer service number. i was put on hold, and the recording said it was a 5min wait. i was on hold for 45min before i hung up. i tried to get help online, but they just redirect you to the same, and only phone number...1-877-430-2355.
i was never able to talk to anyone. it was just a recording running you around in circles. now when i return it to walmart, i will NOT be able to get a refund for the prepaid minute card..$45 + tax.
i have had the SAME problem with trac phone, 4yrs ago. i didn't realize this phone belonged to trac phone, or i never would've bought it.

Phone Activation Runaround
I bought 30 days unlimited service on April 6. On May 2nd my phone no longer works. Basically, I was screwed out of 4 days service. I buy a card at Walmart on May 2nd and activate it around 4:30 PM. Automated system tells me wait 5 minutes and the phone will work. 30 minutes later the phone still does not work. I call customer "service" and wait on the phone for 30 minutes. They tell me to punch in a code *22890 then wait up to 2 hours and see if it works.
So I wait for 2 hours, it's now 7:30 PM and I still have no phone service. I go to the website for answers. No help there. Just tells you to call same number I have or write, yes WRITE the corporate office. I try to log into my account, but I can't because I activated the phone over the phone and no email address is associated with the account. So I call the same number again. After getting "All circuits are busy" several times, I finally get through. This time, I wait an hour on the phone waiting for someone to assist me. When I finally do get to talk to someone, I'm told to dial *22890 again and wait. I told them this had already been done and that I can't get into the website.
So after spending over an hour trying to spell my email address to this person (English was obviously not their primary language) I get an account set up. She then transfers me to technical support and this person proceeds to tell me that "the system is down" and they cannot help me. It's now 10:30 PM and I still have no service and have blown an entire evening trying to resolve this. I log into the website to try activation there. Website says my phone is active but to wait 4 hours for the activation to complete. WTF? First 5 minutes, then 2 hours, now 4 hours?
It's now 11:00 PM and I'm tired and frustrated, so I decide to let the phone sit overnight and see what happens. May 3rd 10:00 AM I decide to try to call a friend and guess what? NO PHONE SERVICE! So again I call the phone number for customer "service" After 2 hours of busy signals, "All circuits are busy" messages, and actually getting through to be told that "due to an unusually high call volume, we cannot take your call" then hung up on, I FINALLY get another person on the phone. I explain the whole saga and about how pissed off I am and the rep sends me to tech support again. This time, the tech support person magically can fix it and I'm told to dial *22890 after getting off the phone. I told them I heard that one before, but this time I'm assured it will work. I told them I lost a day of service I paid for since it's now after noon on the 3rd which means almost 20 hours since I started activation, and I would like my service extended 1 day to be compensated. I was basically told I was SOL and that I would just lose the time they spent jerking me around.
I'm a pretty understanding person. If they would have been honest with me and told me that they had some kind of system problem and would compensate me for the time I didn't have service, I would have been OK with the whole situation. It's when you lie to me, stall, don't answer your phone, and fail to compensate me for what is obviously the company's fault is when I lose respect and confidence in the company. These guys have an auto renew feature where you can provide a credit card number and then your service can continue uninterrupted, but after being shorted 4 days of service, been lied to and avoided, do you seriously think I'm going to trust these guys with my credit card info? NO WAY. These clowns just lost themselves a customer. I would rather pay more for a reliable provider that actually has customer service.

No Customer Service
I have had StraightTalk service that I purchased at Wal-Mart for almost 1 year. The service itself is great, but their customer service has been beyond disappointing time and time again. My current complaint is that I cannot get anyone on the phone to help me with an issue that I cannot make calls after refilling my service. I keep calling their 877 number and I either get immediately kicked off because they can't take my call due to heavy call volumes or I wait on hold so long their system eventually kicks me off. This is not the first time I have had issues with their customer service. When I first got the service it took them over a week to port my phone number and later when I purchased a new phone it took me 3 days to get it setup correctly. I like the service, but if customer service is important to you go elsewhere.

Poor Costumer Service
I called Straight Talk, and from three different employees I was told that their system was down, and that it would be four hours before it was up again. After four hours went by I tryed making a phone call and it still didn't work, so I called them back they said it was still down and wouldn't be up for another eight hours. Then I spoke with the Supervisor and she then informed me that their system was never down and that they would have to fix my phone but wouldn't transfer me over to the phone repair. They also informed me that my minutes on my phone are being used because I had to call them because their phone has failing to work. I would not reccomened anyone to use this service.

Customer Service
The trick is to immediately ask for a supervisor...it takes FOREVER but they apparently have 2 levels of security within their system.
The people we can get on the phone 1st, only have access to level one which doesnt help a thing. You literally have to get an actual "supervisor" on the phone and they can really be helpful.
Now that I know this, I will never speak to a level one frustration again

No account, no help
2-8-10, I bought one of these #!!&%#$ ST phones and a $30.00 service card* "Oh BOY!"
From day one, I haven't been able to access my ST account on line, it states my account was under construction, number not valid and number not in system, , , --->BUT my phone worked!<---
Come 3-6-10, I figured I better add some time! I bought another $30.00 card, called ST customer service and they couldn't add time either but they gave me a "ticket number" and told me "This will be solved in 1-2 day's". The next day they shut my phone off.
I borrowed a phone (again) and got the ST phone turned back on and still had NO account access on line..
SO! I Called them and started complaining! They gave me a "Ticket Number" and shut my phone off again.
Here starts the revolving door.
I've called them 11 times as of today (4-6-10) I've gotten 8 "ticket numbers", all escalated. Today I refused to "GO AWAY" and demanded to talk to a supervisor at their phone-in customer service department and was switched to 4 different mumbling moron's who wanted to "defer" another ticket number on me. (A supervisor is supposed to call me on my ST phone sometime in the next few days and offer me a new account). My phone is shut off. All my phone is good for is the clock and storing numbers, nothing else works.
We All Need To Get Together and File A Class Action Lawsuit Against Them!!
Before they turn into an ENRON of cell service.

They deleted number and minutes
I bought three phones from straight talk, purchased three minutes cards..After a few weeks one of the phones was unworkable.. I then called straight talk and was told that the number to that phone, my phone had been transfered and I could not get it back.and in order to get the phone to work again I would need to purchase another minutes card even though my minutes card had two weeks left.. They recognized that it was them who had made the mistake but refused to turn the phone back on and return my minutes.. I was told this by two service representatives, the first one was very rude, second one was stern on not helping me, the supervisor told me the same but added that I am at the point of no return regarding my phone number and minutes.. His name was Jim, and refused to give his last name.. I do not ever wish to deal with these people again, mostly cuz they are rude and do not own up to their own mistake.. Luckely I explained the problem to walmart, they took the phones back, got credit.. I could not get credit for minutes not even the minutes that straight talk lost.. I warn people to stay away from straight talk, they are anything but straight..
