I contacted Mariam, who was referred over to me by a former colleague, to assist me with my job search. The conversation started off pleasant as we went through a few details about my work background and what I was looking for. She requested a copy of my resume, which I sent via email and she told me that she would start working on my search and that I would hear back from her no later than the next day to go through my details in-depth and discuss what opportunities she was working on.
Starting in about 2 hours, I was called my former managers, co-workers, and clients letting me know that Mariam had been referred to them by me asking if they were hiring and shoving a candidate down their throat. I never received a follow-up phone call, and after 2 phone attempts and 2 emails, I gave up trying to contact her.
Needless to say, I would highly suggest any candidate (especially in the advertising space) NOT work with her or this company unless they would like to have their career put in jeopardy. This is unscrupulous business practice at its worst.
