filth/wrong pricing/refusal of service
I went to my nearest subway, privately ran, first off the veges were disgusting literally fruit flies on and near them, at this point i was questioning if a health inspector has been paid off in some manner, I ordered a chicken bacon ranch and they never put my double cheese, even after i showed her how to make it, she responded with "ooooooh, my manager told me not too" (the recipe calls for double cheese they have a list of ingredients for each sandwich in front of them as well) she charged me an extra 80 cents for my extra cheese and i refused to pay for something that is mine (chicken breast is $5 footlong+bacon $1.20+extra cheese.80= $7.00 so why was my sandwich $7.80?) I come back the next day, the manager was on sandwiches and i order a chicken bacon ranch... he tried to tell me there was no double cheese, AGAIN I walked behind the counter and literally pointed out how to make the sandwich, he told me "there is 'nother subway down street you go that one"! He refused service after that point (My friends mom was also refused service after her debit card was declined, she came back 10 minutes later with cash and they threw it back at her and stated "you no pay for sandwiches, you no come here again")I am not racist but non-proper speaking foreigners(to the point where you can't understand them, i mean come on, every employee there is asian because it is family ran)have no reason being in any sort of business communication especially if they are going to pry extra cents out of your pocket, and then after they fail they refuse service. I HAVE NOT WENT TO ANY SUBWAY SINCE this one branch has instilled a hatred into me that i will never get rid of, ALL PRIVATELY RAN FAST FOOD FRANCHISES ARE HORRIBLE! i am going to go there everyday seeing if i can catch a picture of there vegetables that are covered in bugs since i can attach proof to this review.

Very inappropriate managers
Last week I was looking for a job so I stopped by a subway next to my house and filled out an application. Than handed it back to the female manager and asked how many people they are hiring, she said alot. 3 days later I went back to check up on my application (I was dressed very professional) and she asked me if I was a dancer! (as in stripper) I said "excuse me?" and she asked again. I said "no!" than she conviently lost my application and told me they already hired everyone they need. I was enraged. I called corprate and the lady I spoke with said "it sounded like a personal problem" so I hung up and called the franchise owner and he could care less about the problem. So what I'm wondering is, what kind of people does subway hire?!?! If I did say I was a stripper would I have gotten the job? Never will I go back again.

Very rude to vegetarians
After reading numerous complaints about Subway, I thought it necessary to make a separate post about how, in general, Subway treats vegetarian customers. They have their 'veggie delite' sandwich there, but it is hard to get a truly vegetarian sandwich at Subway. I have been a customer for over a decade, and I will not redress the whole story from a previous complaint I made about Subway, but suffice to say, Subway employees do not welcome ANY special requests regarding vegetarians.
As it is, it is hard for vegetarians to eat at FAST FOOD restaurants. We don't have that problem at sit down restaurants because places like Ruby Tuesdays, Chilis, and even cracker barrel offer very good vegetarian options, but when it comes to fast food, there just aren't that many choices (although, a thank you is in order for Burger King, because they offer a veggie burger on their menu.)
I had a very simple and reasonable request one time at Subway. The woman in front of me got a chicken teryaki sandwich. After the employee was finished with her sandwich, she ripped out another wax paper sheet without changing her gloves. Now, normally, I can just let it go even though the thought of it makes me sick, but the employees gloves were obviously very soiled with the chicken teryaki sauce!!! I would imagine ANYONE (not just a vegetarian) would request the gloves be changed unless you were getting a chicken teryaki sandwich too, because whatever sandwich you get, there would be the second hand chicken sauce. It was disgusting! Now, I asked VERY softly and politely the following- 'I'm sorry, but I'm a vegetarian, so could you please change your gloves'. She sighed VERY loudly, ripped off her gloves and dramatically ripped two more gloves out all while rolling her eyes repeatedly. Then she said very loudly and sharply 'OK, NOW WHAT DO YOU WANT?!' I just said again softly, 'I'm sorry'.
Now, that was 6 months ago, and apparently that employee told everyone else there about my ridiculous request because every employee greets me with an eye roll (despite my smiling and greeting them), throws my sandwich together, rolls there eyes every time I open my mouth to tell them something I want on it, ignores my request for extra cheese and extra vinegar, plus charges me for it (those are the 2 of the 4 items I get on my sandwich), slings my bag of food on the counter, raises their voice to tell me my total, then just walks off after I say 'thank you' (ok, maybe I am going into it again, but the story is necessary, I suppose). Also, whenever I've been in the store, they inform me they have to serve drive thru customers first. Well, I decided to go through the drive thru because I was tired of knowing I can't ask them to change their filthy gloves, and guess what? Their policy suddenly changed to where they now served customers in the store first! Actually, they opened the door, took my order, took my money, slammed the door in my face and made me wait 15 MINUTES while they not only served every customer in the store, THEY WAITED FOR PEOPLE TO WALK IN FROM THE PARKING LOT AND SERVED THEM FIRST! When EVERYONE else was done getting their food, and there was no one in the parking lot, then they decided to finally throw my sandwich together (which took 1 minute or less since I don't get it toasted or warmed), then quickly opened the door, almost slung the bag through my car window and then slammed the door in my face! OUTRAGEOUS.
My husband went there with his best friend last week. And because the friend was with my husband, he also experienced the abusive treatment from Subway, and he asked why they were so mean to us and my husband said he didn't know why. I went there 2 days ago, and again with the eye rolls, slamming food, raising their voice to us, and no response at all to my friendliness besides the ol' eye rolls.
This has been going on for 6 months. EVERY time and EVERY employee there (I'm assuming managers included), and the only reason I can think of is because I didn't want a veggie delite with second hand chicken sauce and grease all over it.
AND, please, no comments like 'well what do u expect from a fast food place, they don't get paid a lot, you know", that is no excuse, like I've said before, I have had MUCH harder, fast paced jobs, and I can guarantee lower pay, and I've had MANY customers be rude to me. That's what you expect in ANY service industry, but it is your JOB to handle it politely so you don't cost the company customers. Also, please no 'well u get what you pay for' either, because I'm treated much better at every burger king i have ever been to.
In these times, Subway employees should be happy to have a job. I'd be GLAD to work at a job like Subway. AND I can tell you, I'd NEVER lose a customer either because I never have in my life.
Their behavior is uncalled for, and it appears to be a trend from other complaints I've read, especially with vegetarians.
WHEN YOU WORK IN THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY YOU ARE TO BE POLITE AND OBLIGE TO CUSTOMERS' REQUESTS. IT'S THEIR FOOD AFTER ALL, AND WHAT YOU THINK IS ACCEPTABLE MAY BE GOING AGAINST SOMEONE'S RELIGIOUS PRACTICES.
I have ALWAYS been the one to smile and greet them, and it's always met by an eye roll, EVERY TIME. I AM the one that says thank you, not them. I do their job better than they do and I don't even work there! It is out of line, and this customer of over 10 years (MUCH longer than any employee or manager has been there at my location) has had enough! I'm not paying $1.50 for a half of a cup of chips anymore just to be abused by the employees. If you are a vegetarian, then pass on Subway. If you don't, be prepared for meat sauce on your sandwich, and if you want it any other way, they will single you out and treat you terribly.
My request for Subway is this- Do like I always did when I wore gloves, change them with every new customer order! It is UNSANITARY to force customers to eat leftovers from the person in front of them. ALSO, SOME PEOPLE HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES. IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED YET, IT WILL THAT SOMEONE HAS AN ALLERGIC REACTION DUE TO SUBWAY USING THE SAME GLOVES ALL DAY, AND GETTING ALL SORTS OF DIFFERENT FOODS ON THE GLOVES WHILE THEY JUST LET IT PILE UP ON THERE. THERE'S A WARNING TO YOU, SUBWAY, LISTEN OR NOT, BUT YOU COULD END UP PUTTING SOMEONE'S LIFE IN DANGER!!!
Also, have the employees get a major attitude adjustment, and if they refuse, then fire them. PLENTY of other grateful people will gladly replace them!
I know I speak for many when I say walking into Subway, one has to look around for a 'no trespassing' sign because that's what you feel like your doing, and I for one felt like a criminal there! It's so bad other people notice it!

Rude, hostile employees
The subway that i have been going to for over 10 years has gone WAY downhill. I am a very polite person. I always be sure to be very kind to others (especially those making my food), and always greet others with a smile. I have worked at very difficult jobs (musch more difficult than subway, btw), with very low pay, but i have always been one to be VERY nice to customers, even if they are rude to me. That is part of doing ur job in any service industry. The excuse of 'well, what do u expect? they work in a fast food restaurant and don't get paid much" is NOT an excuse for me. I can put all the money i have on the fact that i have worked at very difficult, fast paced jobs with low pay, and yes, customers can be very rude, but you handle it in a kind manner. I ALWAYS have and, yes, THAT IS PART OF THE SERVICE INDUSRTY. And also, 'you get what u pay for' doesn't work with me either, because at Subway, I've gotten much more than i bargained for and that is VERY rude employees. VERY rude. EVERY fast food restaurant I have EVER been to has been nicer thann this Subway. I have also given them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were having a bad day. Well, then EVERY day must be a bad day, because this has been happenening for over 6 months at this Subway. Since I am a vegetarian, there are little fast food options that can actually eat at. Subway is one of the few, and I usually do just eat at home, but, sometimes when I'm out I don't have much of a choice.
There is absolutely NO WAY possible that I have contributed to this in ANY way. When I walk into Subway, I say 'hello, how are u' with a smile (despite the bad attitudes). That's when the eye rolling starts. I get about 4 things put on my sandwhich and I don't get it heated or toasted either. It is probably the most simple sandwhich anyone could order, because, as stated, i am a vegetarian. EVERY time i open my mouth to request something on my sandwhich, it is met with an eye roll. They practically slam my sandwhich around. When they're done they very sharply state what I owe, take my money, and I always smile and say 'thank you', at which point the employee just walks away.
EVERY employee there has been completely rude for no reason to me. ALL of them roll their eyes and slam my food around. The only special request I have EVER made there was one time when someone was in front of me got some chicken teryaki sandwhich, and i was next in line, and the sauce was all over their gloves. I said VERY softly and politely, 'I'm sorry, but I'm a vegetarian, so would you mind changing ur gloves, please', and she sighed VERY loudly, rolled her eyes, and slammed off her gloves, and very begrudgingly ripped two more gloves out, and then said loudly, sharply, and rudely, 'ok, now what do you want??"
WOW, i mean, sorry i don't want teryaki sauce all over my sandwhich and vegetables. THAT'S the ONLY thing I can think of. Maybe this employee proceeded to tell all the other employes of how ridiculous I am because I requested she change her gloves.
IF SUBWAY IS SO CLEAN LIKE THEY PRETEND, THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEIR GLOVES WITH EVERY SANDWHICH, AND IF NOT EVERY SANDWHICH, AT THE VERY LEAST WHEN THEIR GLOVES ARE VERY SOILED TO THE POINT WHERE THERE'S SAUCE ALL OVER IT BECAUSE UNLIKE THE CUSTOMER IN FRONT OF ME, I DO NOT WANT CHICKEN TERYAKI ON MY SANDWHICH.
This was over the summer. Here it is, January, and my husband and I went there 2 days ago. They were EXTREMELY rude to us as ALWAYS, and I was extremely NICE as always. I asked my husband, 'what do u think is the problem' and he said 'i don't know but when me and my friend came the other day, they did the same thing to both of us' and his friend asked my husband why are they so rude to us, but we have no idea why.
They aren't rude to every customer either, because also 2 days ago there was a lady in front of us in line and they were very kind to her. then, they came over and just rolled their eyes as a greeting to us. It just must be us, and we have NEVER been rude. I go out of my way to be nice to them, but I won't anymore because that is the last time either of us are going there. I have only made ONE request to change soiled gloves, and i never did again after that kind of response.
I feel EVERY time I go there that i have just passed a 'no trespassing' sign. There is NO excuse for being this rude to someone this long (6 months, EVERY time I've gone there) and this consistently who has always been very nice. Subway employees should, if anything, be thankful to have such nice, respectful customers as my husband and me. And I have read a lot of similar complaints on here. Apparently, Subway employees need an attitude makeover and perhaps be thankful to have a job in these times (I would GLADLY work at Subway compared to say mcdonald's. They really don't do much at all). Whatever it is they hate about me, they need to get over it and keep their feelings to themselves. They have lost a customer who has been going there over 10 years-WAY longer than any employee or manager there now, and I have spent a lot of HARD earned money there. I have also officially filed a complaint with the company, because I HAVE had enough of the customer abuse, it's not just a bad day, and if I'm going to lose one of my favorite eateries, I'm at least going to have the oppurtunity to say why.

rudeness
I am disabled & went into subway with my daughter.I requested a soft pretzel which my daughter asked for.She was told they did not know if they had pretzels. Then did not check to make sure.I went back to employee to ask for the soft pretzel.I was totally ignored-They were not waiting on any cust's but chatting between each other & looked my direction & continued ignoring me.I have a hard time standing due to my disaility & was hurting while waiting & finally after 5 minutes standing there waiting for assistance. The girl behind counter, finally asked what I wanted & acted like she had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for a soft pretzel & said if they had some-it would be where sandwich meat was.I know that is not true since I often go to subway.I seen the soft pretzels & was told it was only for display. The women looked at me rudely & simply didn't feel like doing thier job.

Bad Order
The woman taking my order mistakenly heard me say Chicken marinara, so when the other woman who was handling the vegetable section started putting chicken on my order, I kindly told them I ordered meatballs. The first woman then took my order, and quickly dumped the meatballs onto the sandwich. I don't know if it was out of spite or not, but it seemed like she didn't care how the sandwich turned out at this point. I placed the rest of my order and continued on home.
When I sat down to eat my sandwich however, I was greeted to sauce pooling at the bottom of the bag. Soggy sauce covered napkins, and sauce pooling at the end of the now wrapped up sandwich. This is the first time I've ever had to eat my subway sandwich using a knife and fork because of the massive amounts of sauce she had dumped into it. And all I wanted was just a nice simple sandwich. And then on top of that, they forgot to include the one snickerdoodle cookie I had ordered along with my meal. Attached is a picture of the offending sandwich, and the receipt that came with the order.

Awful advertisement
Subway's recent ad campaign has brought my blood to a red hot boil. For those who don't know what I'm blathering on about, allow me to explain, ever since Subway had the Jared ads (where he lost a lot of weight from eating Subway sandwiches), Subway thinks that if you eat anything other than their sandwiches, you'll forever be a human equivelent to Jabba the Hutt.
I realize they have good intentions, but come on, they executed this by acting like a schoolyard bully poking fun at a fat kid. If anything else, this is blatant elitism by Body ***. I rarely say this but I hope that the ad makers get made fun of for whatever imperfection they may have.
Besides, Quiznos is better by a long shot. Though their ads are disgusting, their food well makes up for it.

Rip-Off!!
I ordered a 6 inch turkey sub, the girl pulled the bread out and cut a large portion of it off. I paid 5 dollars, with bacon, for a 5 inch snack! What a rip off I could've gotten a footlong! The workers at subway never know what the hell they are doing. The bread was hard and crusty as well. This is not quality service! what gives! Subway always rips off people, they give you one napkin and very little vegetables. I'm going to Quiznos from now on, they never did me wrong.
