Summer Bay Resorts Reviews

vaction property owner February 22, 2009
dishonesty
STOP READ BEFORE YOU GET SCAMMED TOO! I am now an owner and still can't get in to use my vaction property. I was told no closing cost and no interest but since i purchased this i have paid a fee for mantience, points (book), and now there is other fees they have added .I have been bounced from one person to another trying to get this resolved and no explainatons have been given. I feel like if eveyone tried to get there money back maybe they would stop being dishonest. This is one of the biggest scams out there. They suck you in buy telling you that eveything is paid and included in the price and it is not. They also have fees for cleaning when you use the room it isnt apart of the maintence fees.My vaction property is paid for and i am still having problems. If someone knows what i can do to get a result please feel free to email me i am open for any suggestions.

$500.oo Rip Off
Winston Salem, NC---I called to have Dish Network installed into my home. THEY transferred me to an extension that had discount vacations. Well, if Dish Network says it, it must be good. I bought in that day for $499.00. I called to book my 1st trip. They said, the room is covered, you pay the taxes, approximately $35 to $45.00. If I go to their Bahama resort, of course on all trips you pay the air fair to get there. If you elect to go to the Bahamas, you pay $198.00 per person for the cruise ship to get there. When you get there for the 2 days, the have a motel room for you but, of course, you need to get your passport first, otherwise, you can stay on the cruise ship. To help this long story shorter. 1st I opted for Daytona races in Florida, to go the end of Oct., 2008. I was to receive tickets 4---- 2 People to the race, I was responsible for my flight there. I could stay at one of their authorized motels (and pay the $40.00 dollar taxes). 5 months later!!! No tickets, or list of motels that I could stay at were EVER sent in the mail. I called Dish Network because, I thought it was through THEM! NOOOOO! They subcontracted. So, I was put on hold and transferred to a $500.00 FRAUD/SCAM!Q

Fight Back
Be careful. . this company uses 10 different business names.
If Summer Bay Resorts has your money. . fight back!
1. You have 60 days from your billing cycle to dispute their charges with your credit card company. They will investigate.
2. Download and complete a consumer complaint form from the Attorney General's website. (2 pages/very easy to complete) They will investigate.

Summer Bay Resorts has $1, 000 of my money.. . no trip for my family! I have learned a painful but valuable lesson!

SCAM
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SUMMER BAY RESORTS! THEY ARE A SCAM!

First,
I signed up with Dish Network (Who has nothing to do with this scam) and was directed to a travel agent who said I was getting a good deal. Later to find out it is nothing more than a scam for money. I signed up for the 5 days / 4 nights in Costa Rico, 4 days / 3 nights in Orlando, Fl., 2 Theme Park Passes, 3 days / 2 nights in Daytona Beach, Fl., 2 Daytona USA Tickets, and 2 nights in the Bahamas for no more than $695.00! I told the agent who was handling this package that $695 is a lot of money right now and she said she would make me a deal. I would pay $100 a month and will have up to 2 years to use the tickets. I then asked her the details of the vacation and Specifically asked about travel to and from the destinations, she stated, “This package is ALL ENCLUSIVE, including the flight to and from your destination”. I thought this was a really good deal and agreed to pay the $100/month in hope that in 6 months it will be paid off and I will be able to go on my vacation. WRONG!

I sign onto my “personal” vacation website that Summer Bay has set up to view your purchased vacation packages and read over the terms and conditions. I HIGHLIGHTED A FEW KEY POINTS BELOW!

Second,
After calling Summer Bay and complaining about how I was told my flight would be included in this package and after reading the “Terms and Conditions” I see I now have to pay for the flight along with a few other random charges.

Summer Bay offered me a second deal instead of canceling my package and returning the $100 already debited out of my account. This deal included:

The same exact package
I could use the package up to 5 years
They will keep my $100, but won’t charge me the additional $595
I would have to find my own travel arrangements to and from the destinations.

I told the agent I would settle for this deal and decided to look up prices for traveling from Indianapolis, IN to San Jose, Costa Rica. $550 Per Person. So In reality I would be paying $1190 just to get to Costa Rica and back (Not to mention I still have to pay for a flight to Orlando sometime) on top of already paying the $100. And this was to cover my wife and I for staying OUTSIDE the actual resort at a nearby hotel. And I still have to pay $15 a night for that hotel and not to mention the $10-$12 PER DAY that I would have to pay to use the resort pool, regardless if I used the pool or not.

Lets Total All This Up:
$1190 Round Trip Ticket for 2
$100 Package Cost
$75 total ($15/per day hotel costs)
$60 total ($10-$12/per day to use/not to use the resort entertainment)
Total= $1425

THIS DOESN’T INCLUDE TRAVEL TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT TO HOTEL.
THIS DOESN’T INCLUDE THE AIRCOST FOR NEITHER THE FLORIDA TRIP NOR THE HOTEL & RESORT COSTS FOR THE FLORIDA TRIP.

ITS ALL A SCAM!!!

Awful experience
First let me say that I did not stay at the resort. I have tried to cancel due to all of the lies that I fell for but have been given the complete runaround. I was told that I had won this trip. It was offered to me when I signed up with Direct TV. I was smart enough to realize that I had not won, because I never entered. I knew it was a time share and was 100% okay with that. I've done one before and I know the drill. You put up with pushy sales people for a short time, but if you can deal with it you get a cheap or free vacation.

What was sold to me: 4 days/3 nts. in Orlando, FL. I was then given a beautiful spiel about how beautiful Summer Bay was and that I would enjoy this and that and all of the ammenities. I was told about the fantastic rooms. I would also get 2 adult, 2 day passes to Disney. I would get 3 days/2 nts. in Daytona Beach, 2 Free Nascar tickets or a $50 dinner card. Then came the Bahamas. I was told that I would take a roundtrip cruise to the Bahamas and stay 3 days, 2 nights at the Taino Beach Flamingo Bay and then head back to Florida to end my vacation. I was told to go to summerbayresort.com and tainobeach.com. I had just moved, so unfortunately I did not have my internet up yet. If I had, I would have googled it and it would have proven a scam immediately. I confirmed and reconfirmed and was told all I had to pay for was $248 for the 2 Disney Tickets, Port Charges for the cruise and hotel tax. I kept asking about other charges and I was told there were NO OTHER CHAR

GES!!!

I was not told there was a 7 day cancellation period, so I took my time going to the site. When I went there, I realized I'd been had!

The catch/What I got:

There is a $15 per night fee

There is another $7 per night fee

I pay hotel taxes.

The cruise is not payed for, I pay for that which is around $180 per person.

The biggie, I don't even stay at Summer Bay. I stay at a Holiday Inn or similar hotel which is a "Summer Bay Resort" I just go to the resort for the presentation. When I mentioned that later I was told that I could pay $80 per night to upgrade.

I originally set up a payment plan for the $248. I paid $100 on the 1st date and set up for the remaining $148 to come out at a later date after I got paid. They drafted it 12 days early. I now have over $300 in overdraft fees from stupid little purchases because I did not expect the $ to come out yet.

I called and spoke to a Reservations person and she said and I quote "I hate the sales people they are so f*$#ing Ugh!" I was floored. I was told I would have to talk to Quality Assurance who was not willing to budge. Don't fall for it!

If I had this kind of money, I would have booked a vacation where I did not have to deal with a timeshare. Now that I'm out $248+$300 in overdraft fees, there will be no vacation for us this year and I'm definately not going to give Summer Bay another dime!!!

Stay away from them
Having seen comments on this site about Summer Bay Resorts, I feel really sorry for myself. I, too, liked what I heard when they explained about all the luxury they had to offer - at a low cost - it seemed at first glance.

However - they are are bunch of crooks only after your money, and what they have to offer is only headache, trouble and misery. Because - if you decide to accept their package, you will end up paying several thousands for a trip you could find much better at half the price.

Disgusting people. Stay away from them. Purifined poison.
