I bought a 05 Mustang convertible from Sunshine Ford in Newburgh NY. I was sold this car after I had mentioned that I might be moving out of the area. The sticker price was missing and I was told that it was because it was a demo. (I later found the soaked sticker price had fallen out of the window under the passenger side seat.) I found out 17000 miles later why the car was stored in the service bays. The car filled up with water on the passenger side, had numerous electrical issues and would barely start. I took the car to the nearest Ford dealership as I doubted it would make it back to Sunshine Ford for repairs. After the car was "repaired" I returned to Sunshine and asked why they had sold me a car with water damage. I was greeted by Joey "The Mustang King" who told me I had taken the car to another Ford dealer so the leak problem wasn't his problem any more. I was then threatened that if I didn't take my car and get off his property I would be arrested as I was impeding his right to sell more water damaged cars.
Over the next 4 months I was called a liar by Ford Motor Company, the car continued to leak even thought I was told that there was no leak (8 times), I was threatened with the police 2 more times by Joey "The Mustang King" at Sunshine Ford, the car smelled like mould and was left un-drivable as well as continued to leak every time it rained. Eventually Ford was FORCED by the Better Business Bureau to take the piece of junk Mustang back. Their inspector found that the car had leaked for a very long time and that it was more than likely Sunshine Ford had intentionally unloaded the car on me because there was a possibility of me moving out of the area.
The saddest part??? I gave Ford another chance and bought a replacement 06 Mustang GT Coupe ... Seven months later I had the same issue with water leaking on the passenger side. After 3 attempts to repair the leak I gave up and unloaded that piece of junk too.
Just avoid the 05-08 Mustangs. Ford knows they leak and has written a service bulletin that admits it. Even their 07 sales documentation states that each Mustang is "water leak tested". If there wasn't a problem why are they doing "specially" now? They have a solution now though they hide the electrical problems by stuffing Styrofoam over the smart junction box. They figure that by the time you start to isolate the mildew smell in the carpet you'll be over 36000 and then they can charge you to fix their piece of junk.
