Unauthorized Charge on my Phone Bill for services I DID NOT ORDER!
My AT&T Phone bill was charged $16.30 for Unauthorized services I did NOT sign up for. When I called their 800 #s I only got a VoiceMail box telling me if I wanted to Cancel, then leave my name and telephone # and other personal information. From other complaints I have read, they use this information to try to prove to that you signed up for their service. Therefore, I did not leave any information on their VoiceMail box. I called AT&T and talked to a Supervisor who said she could only try to send the charge back to OAN Services Inc. I informed her that I was NOT paying the Unauthorized charges, and I demanded that AT&T put a Block on my account that would not allow any 3rd Party Billing. I also demanded that AT&T place a Dispute and "Do Not Treat" request on my account. She did not want to do it but finally agreed. This is supposed to keep AT&T from charging my account for late charges, disconnect, collections, etc. I also filed a complaint online with the Better Business Bureau. When I Googled OAN SERVICES INC, I found there were thousands of complaints against this company dating back 5 or 10 years for placing scam charges from various companies on phone bills. AT&T and other phone companies have known that OAN SERVICES has been "cramming" phone bills with bogus 3rd party charges for years, yet they continue to add these charges to our bills because they are paid for the billing. They use the Telecommunications Act of 1996 as an excuse for what they do, but there is no excuse for treating their customers this way. Whenever they see a bill from OAN they should call the phone customer and verify if we have ordered the service before putting it on our bill. I have asked my Congressman to look into this matter and try to put a stop to this practice.
