Surety Acceptance Corporation bought an old utility debt which was on my credit report. It was a $35 gas bill. I already paid that particular debt off years ago, and it was for some reason still on my credit report when I checked in January 2011 because I was double-checking my credit and paying everything off with my tax return so that I could apply for a mortgage. I thought that perhaps I was mistaken in previously paying, and so I simply paid it again, but I found out that they apparently still have it listed as unpaid because I still can't submit the application, and today, when I looked up Surety Acceptance Corp's number to attempt to call and straighten out whatever this shady business is trying to pull, I discovered that there are tons of postings online accusing Surety of rip-offs and fraud! Obviously I'm not planning on paying it a third time when I've already been made a sucker of once... But I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones who can tell for sure they're being ripped off because it's such a small amount and it keeps showing up. Those of you with high-dollar loan or medical collections should really examine your records and make sure Surety isn't fisting your fundaments too! Pay Attention, Take Action, Don't Be A Sucker!!!
