Never have I ever been treated with such disrespect and never have I been made feel the way that I felt today when I walked out ten minutes into what was supposed to be an hour long facial at Sweetley Salon in North Hills, CA. I have been coming to this Salon for a couple of months now to get my nails done, waxing, etc. I work in the area, the prices are ok. A very friendly Tracy always welcomes and accommodates the customers|.
Today was a completely different experience that made me wonder if perhaps I'm not the first who this has happened to!. I decided to go in for a wax and a facial|. The wax was $22…halfway through the wax another lady that works there walked in and started speaking to one working on me (in their language);. The one assisting me completely relays the entire conversation that her and I just had to the one that walks in/. Then they started making fun of my acrylic nails'. I had explained that a friend of mine was learning how to do them and had practiced on me:. One of them said, "Oh.. She need more practice!" and proceeded to speak in her language to the other one, point at my nails, and laugh and laugh and laugh… hahaha. ok - you can probably do a better job. I get it. My friend did them for free and she wanted to get some practice in.
BUT THIS IS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT HAPPENED NEXT! I change into a robe and got walked into the facial room. Once on the bed the woman put what felt like wads of wet paper on my eyes. Five minutes in I hear her laughing. I hear people walking and talking outside the small room and I hear a voice speak to her in their language and she says a word back. I have absolutely no idea what's going on, why they're laughing and what's worse is that I realize that the door is open. I start to open my eyes a bit under the wet wads of paper and she quickly adjust them so I cannot see. I start to open my eyes a bit more after she took a very long pause from the uneventful facial and I realize there's another person in the room staring down at me. The woman doing the facial on me was standing behind my head and I saw her hand move and point to areas of my face. She *silently* laughed some more. She was pointing out all my flaws and blemishes, all my pimples and imperfections to the other woman standing in the room!!! AND THEY WERE LAUGHING AT ME!
My heart began to beat faster and faster and I felt so furious that they would ever treat ANYONE like that. I contemplated leaving because I couldn't take it. I'm already very self-conscious of my face I don't need these vietnamese ladies pointing and laughing at me - what's worse is that they thought I had no idea. I could hear them trying so hard not the laugh. That was enough embarrassment and ridicule for me so I removed the wads of paper from my eyes, sat up, and said, "I'm not doing this!" They said, "oh. what wrong, what wrong? need water?" Yeah - Nice job with the customer skills, lady. Where were those customer skills five minutes ago? I left and changed. Threw the robe in the room and walked out. I told them they were unprofessional. Tracy insisted she would do the facial, I said, "No. I'm done. This place is unprofessional." Tracy said "what's wrong? what's wrong? you mad?" I couldn't even speak I was furious! I said to everyone there, even the customers. I'm never coming back here again." The other two women from the facial sat there pretending to have done nothing wrong. The facial was going to be $35 dollars. No way in *** I was going to endure and pay $35 dollars for the blatant disrespect and poor customer service. I left that place almost in tears. I felt like I was a young kid in school getting made fun of for the way I look. I'd rather pay $80 dollars for a facial at a nicer Spa than try to save myself the money and support a small business where they have no idea how to treat a paying customer… or even how to treat a person.
