UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE
while I was surfing the internet i wanted to find out what Swipeauctions.com has in their website. to know what items they sell, things like that really motivated me to check the site out. so unlike Ebay which allows anyone to look in to items for sale with out even registering, swipeauctions.com wanted me to first register by filling a form. I said OK. the first page where the form is displayed there is nothing that talks about any kind of charge for registration. in order to access the website one has to continue to the next page where one fills out about one's mailing address and a credit card. this part did not even alarm me all, because almost all online auction sites including Ebay do ask for similar information. so i went ahead and fill it out including my credit card information. but as soon as i completed the form on page 2 and hit Enter my browser froze up and i did not know what was up. thinking my information did not go through i restarted my computer and opened the swipeauctions.com website and tried to log in with my newly created user name and password. to my amazement now i have an account which is active. i became suspicious right away. my first question was how come i did not get a confirmations email or something else like congratulation! now you can start bidding. (by the way my experience and the other person's experience which is posted on this web site on sept. 12, 2010 is very similar). so i decided if every thing was alright. i was looking at my account and on my bidding history window
it said "you have no bidding history", then i opened purchase history and it said " $159.00 purchase made on Sept. 23, 2010". i was furious i knew right then and there that i was ripped off by swipeauctions.com. without delay i called my bank and found out that i was actually charged $159.00 for something i did not purchase or authorize. frantically i filed a claim with my bank to dispute it. this was a scam pure and simple. Searching the internet i landed on a phone # which i have noted already, i called the customer service and told the guy i did not authorize the charger the amount of $159.00 your company had taken from my bank account. the guy said "well, it is posted on the page you filled the form when you signed up". and i told him that i did not see that all and it was not at least on the first page of the sign up form page. he said, " it was not on the first page but it was on 2nd page." that is admittance of guilt. i told him if you guys were running a fair and honest business you would have disclosed the sign up fee clearly and on the first page where people can see it and not on the second page where people don't bother looking at. any ways to shorten the story i told him that i did not want any explanation i just want my money back. he told me that i have feel out a refund form four pages long and send it to the company in aurora, Colorado then call us 15 days later after you mailed it in order to clarify we have the right person and address of the claim in question. it sounds ridiculous though. because if they are refunding the money to the same credit card from which they illegally took the money from in the first place why all this hassle. i am suspecting bad. i will pursue this claim with the help of my bank and if needed i will sue them in small claims court. i am not going to let these fraudulent minded people and business take away my money just like that. this is one of the sites that should be closed down. thank you for reading and beware of the swipeauctions.com thieves who are waiting and preying on unsuspecting innocent people like me. if you have similar stories with this company please share your story. our stories will play a big role in bringing swipeauctions.com down.
thank you again.

scam
This site needs shut down and now. They get $159.00 from you and there was 12 auctions running, 4 of which were points to their auction site. 2 of the auctions were walmart discount cards. OMG I dont shop walmart. I contacted SwipeAuctions.com for a refund--2 minutes after I entered. They sent me a link to fill out forms and it will take 15 days after they receive the snail mail form.
I am going to contact BBB
PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR $$$$

Expensive Hidden Fees
I found this link from ConsumersWeeklyDigest on my local news' webpage and it seemed great. I watched the videos of people winning things at the fraction of its retail value so I looked over their terms and decided to sign up. SwipeAuctions.com said there was a 3 step sign-up process but by the 2nd step they showed that $159 had just been taken from my account and what do ya know?-There was no third step!! And their rediculously shady process of getting my money back is NOT GUARANTEED but "you must qualify for full reimbursement." I am Discusted with ConsumersWeeklyDigest and SwipeAuctions.com!

misleading signup charge & problem with refund
I was signing up, as a new member, in order to use a promo code that gave me 100 free bids, so I could test out the site and decide if I wanted to purchase more bids, but when signing up I encountered a nightmare. The system asks if I wanted to purchase a pkg of 60 bids per day for $11.99/month, to which I said no. Then, i was asked for my personal info (inc. Visa info), after which a screen appeared showing that my card was charged for a package of bids for $159 - which I did not agree to. I immediately proceeded to look for a customer service # to get the charge removed. The following is a list of the issues that left me furious:
* there was no contact info on any of the pages I had progressed through, so I had to do Google a way to contact them - time wasted! *I used their on-line customer service (which was the only good thing about the experience) to find out that I had to download a 2-pg refund form, fill it out, and drive to the Post Office to mail it (in order to get a confirmation receipt) - more time & money wasted * Back to the refund form. I had closed my on-line contact with their cust. svs., but had to re-Google the site and re-contact them to find out what the order number was (it wasn't noted on the sign-up page). After closing that cust. svs. contact I then got to a spot where it asked for the "Descriptor on Visa statement." Great, now I have to wait for my statement in order to complete the form and mail it in, just to wait for them to get it, process it, and someday to finally get my refund. I am furious.
As it turns out, on the left side of the screen, when keying in my personal info there was, what I interpreted to be, a mention of a package of bids for $159 that I could purchase, but it didn't come right out and say so, it was, in my opinion, set up to look like an offer.
What they should do is (1) add a check-box to the sign-up dialog box where you have to click a box recognizing that your account will be charged $159 (like the boxes on sites where you have to agree to "terms") in order to continue. (2) they should not force you to go through a cumbersome process of time (and money: gas and postage) in order to get a refund. I've never had to do anything more than call or email a business to get a refund (unless, of course there was a physical item involved)

deceptive format
they asked where they should send my winnings I filled out the registration form including cc info wanting only to preview the site then decide whether or not I wanted to participate. They immediately used my info to take unauthorized money from my account. many other people express a similar experience.

Misleading website
Very misleading information on website for penny auctions. They claim they clearly state that there is a fee for signing up for auctions. It is not clear. An hour after I signed up I got a call from my bank card asking me if I had authorized $159.00 to this company. This was the first I knew they were a scam. To try to get my money back they require a paper mail in form that can take as long as two weeks to process. But they took the money right away. Don't fall for this!
