Billed 3 times after initial trial ended
I ordered a free 30 day trial period of the Norton 360 4.0 software on 02/19/2010, decided after the trial was over to keep the Norton because it has kept many high risk viruses from infecting my laptop, was charged the $74.99 on 03/20/2010 which will cover me for an additional 11 months, not a problem since I was aware of the price and when the charge would be deducted from my Visa...the problem started on 03/28/2010, 8 days after I was charged for the software, I check my e-mail and my CC statement and to my astonishment there is ANOTHER charge from Symantec for ANOTHER $74.99...so I check things out and realize that I was double charged for the same order, everything was exactly the same...order #, account #, amt. charged...etc. I called Symantec, after filling out some information on thier website in order to get a phone # and what Symantec calls a "Priority ID"...well, after trying for over 20 minutes to get through, the Priority ID did NOT work, I FINALLY got a Rep. on the line and was told that there would be a refund for the full price on my Visa within 5-7 buisness days, which there was, so I thought that was the end of it...they had fixed thier mistake and I am covered for another 11 months before having to renew again...WRONG...today, 04/04/2010, I receive an e-mail alert on my blackberry that says i was AGAIN charged $74.99 for the SAME order, checked my CC statement and you guessed it...there was indeed another charge on my Visa...so ONCE AGAIN, I went through the same steps...filling out the form, getting the non-working "Priorirty ID", calling the 800 # and finally got another Rep. on the phone, only this time i could not understand anything that he was saying because his accent was so heavy, had to ask him to repeat everything, he couldn't find my account because he put the e-mail address in wrong after I had to repeat it to him 5 times before he got it right, then he said the order #'s were not the same, well I guess they weren't since THIS time they put the BRAND NEW order # that I had paid for AFTER the trial period ended...and said that IT was a 30 day trial period...so my question to the Rep was Y woud I order another when I have the very same thing for another 11 months that protects 3 computers at the same time...of course he had no answer that even attempted to sound reasonable for this...so once again I was informed that I will have a full refund within 5-7 buisness days...this time I asked the Rep HOW can I be assured that I will not be charged a 4th time for this renewal...his reply to that question was to give me a case # and said that should I be charged again in the future all I have to do is give the Rep I speak with this case # and they will make sure I have another refund within ANOTHER 5-7 buisness days...so the case # really doesn't help at all since that's what they are doing anyway...so all in all, my question never REALLY got answered and this tells me that there's the possibility of this happening again...my advice for anyone who plans to buy a Norton product...purchase the initial CD from Wal-Mart or somewhere that sells them and when the time comes to renew...send them a money order so you don't end up being charged multiple times like I was.
