The issue starts out in August of 2005 where we checked in to a cabin that smelled like an ashtray. It looked like a smoke haze when we walked into the room. As noted in my original complaint the room was terrible and due to a boat breakdown and the condition of the cabin we could not stay anymore than a couple of days. Needless to say we got raked thru the coals and got stuck with a bill for 7 nights even tough we could barely stand to stay three. Our consolation was that for 2006 the cabins are supposedly smoke free. We were not going to take a chance. We instead went to a 3 * * * star resort on Bull Shoals where the cabins are in great repair and always feel clean. We have gone to this resort for 6 years and it is great with one minor inconvenience. It is not on waters edge.
Lakeside got paid for 7 nights even though we only stayed for 3. The credit card did not contest the charges. When it was contested thru my credit card Lakeside embellished on the truth and made it seem as if we agreed to their pay for all nights booked policy even though you don’t stay for 7 nights because the smell was soo bad. They told a fish story that the only reason we left is due to my boat breaking down. Too be honest if we had our boat functioning we would have braved it out and stayed more than 3 days but being cooped up in the cabin with the smell was more than we could handle. The moral of the story is that your credit card company will not side with you in cases where the resort is not inhabitable. This was first time this happened in 8 years of heading down there but the resort is no longer the same place with new owners who are only concerned with the rent. To their credit they offered the use of their boat but it has such a storied history I did not feel safe even thinking about it. The boat was usually broken down and was a beater. To sum it up no more Bass Pro Shops Visa Card and no more Lakeside Resort in Coney Island Mo.
