TAM Brazilian Airways has a long way to go to pretend to be like the big boys. First, it has the Orwellian policy of not letting anyone, but Brazilians reserve flights on their online site - since they require a brazilian cpf number to book the flight. Secondly, they will try to convince you to call their office in Argentina to assist foreigners and, of course, there is no toll free number to get there from here. One would think an important Brazilian carrier could have a Brazil toll free number to call. That would be too easy for TAM. Of course, you can appear in person at certain locations to book your flight, but they tend to be at the international airport 30 miles out of town - they can't think of making a number of locations in town. and, also, forget it on a weekend. Perhaps you could call the office and try to get them to accept your us-based visa card? i have five telephone numbers for them and not a soul answers. Heaven help those who come here for the World Cup and Olympics and find they wish to change their reservation. This place will be a mad house...and the Brazilians can't figure out why.
