False Advertising
The two day sale flyer for the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving 2008 advertised a 2 gig thumb drive. It clearly says the price is $8.88 and includes 40 free prints. The website said the same. I went to the store and the package has the same information. It was a special deal between Target and Kodak and has the information printed inside the plastic package. "40 free prints. Who doesn't love free? 40 prints for you, from Target." You can't get much clearer than that! It also said "See coupon inside for offer" but you can't get to that unless you cut open the plastic package. I assumed it had some unimportant details such as expiration date.
Upon reading the coupon which was hidden inside, it turns out that this offer is not for 40 free prints. The coupon clearly states you receive 40 "free" prints with the purchase of 40 or more. This is NOT free. This is buy 80 for half price. I don't think I'm being overly picky here - this is very misleading and quite wrong.
I called customer service and spoke to a supervisor who took my phone number then put me on hold to research my complaint. After a few minutes, their system hung up on me. Since he had my phone number, I assume he'd call me back but he never did. I called back and finally got someone who took three tries to correctly record my phone number. I don't know what she was doing for several minutes but we never even got to my problem so I asked for someone else. That supervisor told me there was nothing she could do except for me to pay for the 40 prints and send her the receipt after which she would send me a store credit. While better than nothing, this is a lot of unnecessary effort on my part. I also have to trust I eventually receive the credit. What I wanted was some way to go to the store and get my 40 free prints without the hassle. But they don't know of any way. It took me 45 minutes on the phone to find this out.
Since it does not seem to be possible to communicate with anyone higher than customer service by phone, I wrote a polite letter to Gregg Steinhafel, President, asking how I could get the promised 40 free prints. I gave my address, phone number and email address.
About two weeks later, I received an email from Joseph who said he wanted to discuss this with me and to call him. He gave the customer support phone number and a reference number. I went through their horrible phone system again on Monday morning and finally got someone who told me he wasn't in yet but would be told I called. That was over a week ago and I still haven't heard from him.
I encourage everyone who was mislead by this item to write and complain to

Wine Cooler Fiasco
My husband & I tried to purchase a 12 bottle wine cooler today from Target. In our Sunday paper, the Target ad had a great price on a 12 bottle wine cooler. We went to the Target in our town and realized when we got home, the cooler was scratched and dented. My husband returned it and than drove to a Target in a nearby town (20 minutes car ride) and brought home wine cooler #2. It turned out this one had a huge dent in it. The box was perfect so my husband did not check the appliance before leaving the store. Our mistake!! He drove back to the second store and talked with the store manager who was willing to give us a $3 credit for our trouble. We wasted 4 hours trying to make a purchase. Target needs to check their merchandise before putting it on on the shelf. The store manager should of been more helpful. Why should we have to check the merchandise that closely before we leave the store. I AM DONE SHOPPING AT TARGET. TARGET HAS LOST MY BUSINESS

Lack of Human Resources Training
I grew up in Minnesota where Target Corporation was a big deal. Their stores were clean, employees had a dress and conduct code. Yah their prices were higher than Walmart but you have less hassle of being mobbed and better quality.
My husband works for Target. He is very dedicated and works very hard even when he is pain from some of the work he has done. He has been through 4 managers and several district managers in 4 years. In his region, he has been there the longest. He volunteered to work overnights and even miss my birthday one year.
Okay...here is my problem. The department he works in is VERY UNETHICAL!!! His managers lack common sense and have no idea the basics of Human Resources. They treat their department like something they scrap off their shoe and even when the "Higher Ups" are very pleased with budget and performance, their managers always find a way to kick them down. Other departments are aware of these problems and have addressed the issue to them. But the structured system at Target has failed this department.
This specific department is having so many problems that their turnover rate is extremely high and their pay scale is very low. They can not retain employees for an extended period of them. They have even promised pay increases but once hired, they become non-existent. One manager has nickeled and dimed his department to try to be below budget, when his employees achieved this, he gave them a lower raise for their efforts and took a large bonus. I know that most of this is not unheard of but disheartening for a large structured company like Target Corporation that brags on its "Branding".
His manager has become so desperate to attack my husband that he has given him verbal warnings about missing Fridays and Mondays. My husband recently missed yesterday (Monday) due to an infection that began last Thursday!! My husband was smart enough to produce a doctor's note for his Manager. My husband has earned his time off. Sickness is not predictable and my husband always makes sure he doesn't put his store in a bad position because of it.
Now that his Manager has went back to look at his time of schedule from the past, I will take the time to go back and receive doctors notes from my husband missing days due to illness for himself or our children. I will also consider calling an attorney about legal advice if his Manager continues to find bogus items to give warnings for.
You might think...they are doing their job. There is more to the story including the Floater who is very ill with Cancer and the Managers refusing to hire additional people to help him.. This poor man has 4 children and is ALWAYS on call, they promise him relief every week. The "African-American" person that was given the slight promotion of Lead until his work got him demoted but when the man felt this department wasn't for him, they denied his request to locate somewhere else because he fills their Minority quota and they can not afford to lose someone else.
Times are tough for everyone right now and we can't afford for my husband to lose his job because his boss can't do his.
Anyone else having problems with their jobs or their spouse's jobs at Target Corp?

Horrible customer service
I bought a Christmas present at target which cost $150. I started shopping early in September and noticed that they have a 90 day return policy. I understand this so I am not requesting a refund just a store credit. I was told that they will do nothing. The item is unopened and they still sell the product. This is a horrible way to treat the consumer especially since they just opened a Target right across from my work.
