I have the TASCAM DR100 I purchased at B&H NYC. It is still under warranty.
It has been consistently unpredictable. The lithium battery runs out very fast and the switch to the AA batteries is not always clear and I find myself out of juice at crucial moments. I got an ERR CODE message for no particular reason that blocks the system and i have to remove the batteries to reboot it. Very annoying and I lost a few clients because of that. Last, the system freezes up for no specific reason and sometimes destroys the last file that was recorded. I have read the manual and made every effort to set the machine right.
I am a professional and calliong TASC AM support they promised they would send me a replacement lithium battery as they thought that was the problem. After 3 months nothing. I call them and e-maiol them 5 times and they say the bttery is in back order. Now they finally sent me one, and it's the wrong one.
I spoke to a manager there to no avail. Basically, at TASCAM, if your product becomes faulty, and it still under warranty, you are screwed.
To add to that their customer service is lousy. I felt like I was back in france where i encountered such a lousy service.
Thewre are plenty of brands out there that offer similar products. My advice: AVOID TASCAM & TEAC
