Plan change without informing consumer

I would like to raise a complaint against a SEVERE ISSUE from TATA INDICOM Billing Department of Gujarat Circle. I am a Gujarat TATA INDICOM Customer but due to my Profession I have to TRAVEL a lot and since last 6 months I am moving between Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Due to some reasons, from last 3 months I have left my MOBILE at my home (Lucknow) with parents so that I can contact them as per my convenience as I am always on the move. But I have found a BLUNDER done by TATA INDICOM BILLING DEPARTMENT of Gujarat.

Please find my bill of following months (Mar’07, Apr’07, May’07 and Jun’07). Under the CORPORATE SCHEME which I took in August’06, I was entitled of following facilities:
a) 100% Disc on first 250 Local & STD Calls.
b) 100% Discount on CLIP, CW, CF, VMS, & 3 WC.
c) 100% Disc on First 100 Local & National SMS.
d) 100% Disc on Roam Incoming Charges. [UYL 499 Roam Plan Bill Plan Charges]

Under the fourth point, by paying 150 Rs. extra monthly, I was entitled to have my ROAMING FREE for ALL INCOMING CALLS. Kindly check out my March’07 and April’07 bills for CONFIRMING the same.

But since my May’07 BILL, even though I have been charged Rs.150/- for the UYL 499 Roam Plan Bill Plan Charges, my plan for 100% Disc on Roam Incoming Charges was not CHARGED PROPERLY in my BILL. In May month, my incoming was only 359 Minutes so I didn’t bothered to REPORT the issue, but in this Month (June) , for my incoming of total 946 minutes, I have been given a discount of only 750 Rs and rest 196 minutes call have been charged.

I am not able to understand ONE THING that when I SUBSCRIBED for this CONNECTION, I was told about the SCHEMES clearly and if I am not wrong as per TRAI RULES and REGULATIONS, a customer can not be CHARGED for any SCHEME CHANGE without making him informed. So my questions to you are as follows:

1) Why the scheme was changed for me without even informing me?
2) While giving CONNECTION, TATA INDICOM didn’t mention about any TERMS AND CONDITIONS that such PLAN CHANGE can happen and that too without informing Customer.
3) I took this connection coz it was useful for me under my profession and if the SCHEME wont be reverted back to its ORIGINAL FORM, then I will be forced to ESCALATE this matter to TRAI and along with that I have to file a case against TATA INDICOM in Consumer Court.
4) As per TELECOM Companies’ regulations, companies can’t change the PLAN based on which the customer takes the connection till the TIME it has been conflicting with some TRAI guidelines.

Kindly look into the issue and make the NECESSARY adjustments. Also, I would like to request you to ensure that such sort of ERRORS are not done in future. I am regular customer and I have always paid my BILLS on time. Even my CREDIT LIMIT is 10,000 Rs/-.

I am sure that my concerns will be take care soon and I won’t have to ESCALATE it to the TRAI for Consumer Protection and Redressal of Grievances

Please Note: I am going to be on the move (roaming) for may be next 6 months.

Also, after seeing the ISSUE raised by another person (http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/tata-indicom-c1429.html) I believe that such sort of BLUNDERs are done in PAST by billing department.

change of plan/scheme without intimation
To: TATA Indicom,

I am having lot of issues regarding your service and I am really fed up with it. I would just like to bring to your notice following incidents that have taken place since last 1-1/2 months.

Right now I am just waiting for your reply and I am so annoyed that I have the last option of going to the Consumer Court no less then that would be sufficient to pay for my inconvenience caused to me and my Husband (Lt. Amit Dogra) because of your Employees.

1. Tataindicom changed the connection/scheme without information or written confirmation to us. They say that they called up but is it sufficient .If they very well knew that I was not able to pick up their call because of whatever reason they should have at least sent an SMS conveying the message and since it was such a major change they should have sent a written letter.

2. Phone lines were disconnected without any notice. Phone were not enabled working till 02 weeks (after daily calling customer care)

3. Phone lines were not restored even after lot of phone calls to customer care and my husband personally meeting (miss Vardhini-9246629399 (manager, tatindicom branch vizag)

4. Two weeks of daily phone calls to Miss Vardhini after a long time phone was connected.

5. Phone was very important during the time because of sudden death of my grand father .My husband needed to talk to me .Because of inefficiency of Vizag staff and no response from them we faced lot of mental harassment which is solely contributed to the company.

6. Miss Vardhini along with other staff when my husband personally met accepted that they have made a mistake of not informing US. They changed the scheme/plan without any notice to us . However their computer is showing something else.

7. Finally agreed by tatindicom that they will waive Rs848 and asked me to pay Rs 3000 against some Rs.300 (which will be the approximate amount i had to pay as per my plan). I have already paid extra Rs. 2700 which i was not supposed to pay in the first place.

8. Now tataindicom (customer care Representatives) are harassing and threatening to disconnect the phone if the bill amount is not paid ( RS.848) which was the minimum amount they have agreed to waive off.

9. We have faced lot of problem because of tataindicom (Vizag) and now if the problem is not resolved we will be left with the only option of going to consumer court for the same.

10. Response of Tataindicom Vizag team is very poor (Esp . Miss Vardhini(manager )). She does not lift the phone 9/10 time’s .every time we ask she tell us one new date of resolving the issue. We are thoroughly harassed by Tataindicom poor response.

11. I would request you to look into the matter before my resolving to some harsh steps as soon as possible and kindly respond to the matter and let me know the results so that i can take appropriate action.

No proper response from CSR and changing tariffs without notice
I've been using tata indicom for the past 1 year. There is always a problem trying to contact the CSR's. They are not available almost all the time. I donno how all the lines are busy for almost 3 days. I have tried calling them in consequent days in different times but their line are so damn busy...

Even if I get connected to the CSR they no nothing abou the product, Tariff nor the plan which the company they are working for provides. I wonder how can tata indicom so irresponsible and careless about the customers. The CSR have no idea of the info we are asking about and we need to call around 6-7 people to get the required info.

I was in domore 123 plan with roaming free facility. Suddenly they popped up one day telling no more roaming free. Then I had to call them up repeatedly, explain them what was required n make them understand the plan.

There was a plan by name Roam one india where t2t is Rs 1 in roaming. I had activated that plan 2 months back.

1. My invoice for May was generated according to the tariff I opted for but in my invoice plan name was different.

2. I tried calling so many times but all the CSR's could tell was there is no such plan existing in that name.

3. If there is no plan in that name then how could that tariff be applied in my bill.

4. As these confusions were not enough there was one more in store for me.

5. Suddenly out of nowhere I received a mail telling my credit limit has exceeded n I have to make a payment of 7000 to activate my connections.

6. I called up the CSR's and inquired about the problem. The answer I got was really shocking. They told me the plan name was Cmo-Do More 123 Roam Plan( which was printed in my previous bill) n they told me entirely different tariff from how it was billed the last time.

7. I had made a complaint on this to the CSR and they gave me a no telling the CSR would call back within 24hrs. More than 3 days are over and I didn't get any response from them nor I am able to reach them.

8. I am not going to make the payment for this month until these issues are resolved and I am going to get my bill only with the tariff I opted for.

9. If they are barring my service telling that my credit limit n exceeded n all stuff I am going to go legally against tata indicom.

I hope tata indicom doesn't waste its time r money by compelling me to go legally against it.

This problem has occurred for 5 of my friends who were in the same plan. We are just going crazy having this phone n I am sure that all the others who are using would also fell the same.

Very poor customer service!
I had bought a tata mobile on 17 dec of 2007, 2 month after my phone connection automatically cut from the tata indicom customer service. I have submitted my all id proof and other required document to k10 at canaught palace. But still they have not started my connection. I had gone to k10 7 times, they opened my connection and for a day and automatically it disconnected in a day.

So what i do for regarding this. This is a very poor customer service.

Bill paid but mobile disconnected
I am very upset and the Reason is the Pathetic Service by Tata Indicom. I want the entire world to know How Tata Indicom cheats its Customers in the way of week service to its Customers. Please go through this entire E-Mail and publish it in all your News Papers. If Possible get me a Resolution as well.

I have paid my bill as on 20.05.07 but the service provider Sai Telecom services has refuse to take given cheque against tata teleservices. He wants cheque in his own firm's name i.e. sai telecom. I had given the same on 20.05.07 as due date was 22.05.07. Now the payment is deducted from my account to him. But it is not been updated in my mobile account still as on 04.06.07. In between my mobile is being disconnected 3 times. I get it connected by raising on customer service people. Now the thing is that why customer has to harass for these. Tell me.

No repayment of my deposit!
I have submitted a letter for termination of my landline service . So the tata indicom executives terminated the service but they told that my cheque will be sent to my residential address but it was not sent. I hold the telephone number91-0891-5597403.why the hell the indicom executives are being paid i don't understand. Even i have gone to the number of times but no use. S**t with the tata indicom.

Problem with Prepaid Broad band connection
I have taken Prepaid broadband connection last year and still i was not able to use it because that Connection is not been enabled. When i call Customer Care they will tell that their engineer will visit the place and till now no one has visited the place and now the package date is expired.

Receiving bill after canceling connection
I am dr. dhanesh gupta taken connection frm TATA INDICOM due to some reason i remove this phone connection i already returned my tata phone instrument paid my bill also... but these people send bill regularly even i don't have connection.

Fake case filing & harassment
Everybody must read this - How efficiently top brass companies behave with their dear customers.

Being highly dissatisfied with the Tata Indicom services, I decided to get it disconnected. Customer care seemed to be not so happy on this and went on calling at abrupt timings persuading not to disconnect ( offering schemes like waiving off pending bill amount & so on).

The last settling bill I received for disconnection was for amount Rs1179.00 & was paid immediately ( the cheque cleared as on 30th April 2007). The Handset & accessories were picked by their agent on 06May2007. As discussed, customer care executive told me that my security of Rs 1000.00 would be refunded to me after 80DAYS!

17 May 2007: I receive a call from Information Officer of Delhi High Court that a case has been booked under my name as I have refused 2 earlier notices by post (what was all that I could not understand -- refusing what notices despite the fact that somebody is always present at our home!). Further I was told if I do not sought out this (unknown) matter, the file will be passed on to local police station & further charges for confiscation of property worth Rs 15000/-

My mother is a heart patient & had the biggest shock of her life -- after all what has been done wrong!

In a haste, I called up the number forwarded to me by this high court official ( name withheld)of the advocate (name withheld) & I was told that all this case was filed for not depositing my Tataindicom bill of Rs 1179/- , If I do it immediately within 1hour, the same file would not be transferred!!

I rushed to Tataindicom centre & was told that their was no pending due except for Rs 55/- which was additionally being charged even after paying settlement dues. Anyway, i paid Rs55/- bill & called the advocate incharge of handling my case. The person had no words & haphazardly tried to call off this issue. I tried to connect the advocate & tata cc person incharge -- you know it never answers!

Ironically, I have received a bill of Rs 55/ by courier 3 days back!

Can somebody tell me how should this new type pf harassment be handled? I am willing to take up this matter in customer court ( any takers!). I have all the required documents to prove authenticity of this case.

Post Paid Bill Plan change without intimation
1. I have been a post paid Tata Indicom customer from 20th October 2006 with the following user detail :-

a) Tata Indicom Account Number: 801531142
b) Tata Indicom - Telephone Nos. 9230541724 , 9230541725
c) Phone in the name of - Kuldeep Singh
d) Billing Address:
C/O Visakhapatnam Steel Plant
1-A.J.C. Bose Road, 2nd Floor.
Kolkata-700 020 (W.B.)
e) Number of Telephones connection in a single account No. 801531142 : 2 phones.
f) Activation Date: 20.10.2006.
g) Security Deposit -Rs.1000/-.
h) Allotted Credit Limit: 4000/-.

2. The Tel No. 9230541725 was taken for the purpose of permanent roaming with the Rs.150 free incoming plan. From the very first day itself this phone has been under roaming in Baraut area of U.P and also this phone had Get More 99 plan with a promo offer of Rs.150/- pm for free incoming while in roaming.

3. The Tel No. 9230541724 had the plan “Talk World 299” with promo of Rs.75/- for free Local Tata to Tata (T2T).

4. Now the actual; facts is that on scrutiny of my monthly following irregularities are noticed. :-

a) For Tel. No. 9230541725, the tariff plan has been changed from “Get More 99” to “CMO-Get More Rom”.
b) Incoming calls have been charged @Rs.1.75 per minutes instead of my initial installed plan charges i.e. “FREE INCOMING”.

5. I may let TATA Indicom know that my both mobiles had tariff plans agreed upon by me at the time activation. But once in a fine morning suddenly you have amended all their tariff policy without intimating to the undersigned. At that juncture, If they would have informed me about all changes made in the tariff plan then -accordingly I would have gone for a different tariff plan for 9230541725 and in fact could have taken a local SIM-card of that locality to avail the call charge of Re.1 per 3 minutes(calls made from 9230541724) instead of being charged @ Rs.1.75 per minute.

6. In addition to above, I may mention here that everyday I used to receive 8 to 10 calls as well as SMS's from Tata Indicom call centers in regard to certain commercial advertisement etc. Whereas an important matter such as change of your tariff plan has not been yet communicated to me to avoid all inconveniences.

7. Hence, legitimately I am not agreed to pay extra charges levied upon me and an amended fresh bill may please be generated as per initial agreement signed by me with them for payment concern.

8. I solicit Tata Indicom's all co-operation in this subject on urgent basis for settlement of outstanding dues without further delay.
