Terrible service
Bought tata sky in SEPTEMBER 2007 with the scheme of 6months free for Rs.4000. Thinking that all the channel will be available. After that Tatasky started reducing the no. of channels by putting them into packages like lifestyle silver life style gold, sports package etc. for this you have to pay more (appx. 40-50rs per package)This is making fool out of people. Buy reducing their price to Rs.260/ they have in fact increased the price. For example... If I opt for Super saver pack it would cost me Rs.260. without the channels which are in lifestyle silver and life style gold and sport gold pack. Now if I want to see all the channel I have to pay Rs.30 per package that make another 90Rs for all 3 packages so the total comes to RS260+90=350per month.And all the packages have some important channels like lifestyle silver has BBC in it. And what about the people who bought tatasky under diff. scheme. Like I bought it under 6months free. Tata sky is chor The suck. I am getting it removed Secondly there is a lag in tatasky. And also some stupid numbers keep on appearing right in the middle of the screen.

Poor quality installation material usage
I belong to service industry and today I feel like Tata Sky has developed a great business strategy to get the money from customers by misleading them and offering a rat trap. I have lost all my patience and finally sharing my experience to avoid this pain for any readers. Not only there feedback or help desk is pathetic it seems they have nothing as After sales services. So friends before you get TATA sky installed be sure that you will get no service. I have about a dozen Tata Sky set up boxes in our building and currently just half of them are working balance has some or other problem running which has no place to address to or has a cost of repair even higher than installation chargers.
I feel cheated by Tata Sky since they used a low grade quality of cable during installation and now in few months time it has developed cracks which in turn has lead to moisture traveling from dish to the set up box, as a result everything is down. The company is charging Rs. 1800 for each new set up box plus additional charges for re-installing the low grade Cable. This problem has no solution and as non formally said by their attendant that this is a very common problem faced by customers.
I have even written to them but still awaiting reply. Oh! not to miss that my daily charge is running no matter even if these ppl take an year to fix the problem. Seriously, if you have opted for Tata Sky then i guess soon you will be writing on this message board as well.

Fooling Customers
Tata sky is not adding channels like Zee Talkies, Zee Sports, Zee Music, ETC (FTA on DD Direct).
When contacted the customer care they keep saying we are doing negotiations and those will be available on Tata Sky soon. Nothing has happened even after I am following it up for last 6 months.
I have also sent an email to Nodal Officer Pune but even he/she did not bother to reply back.
Wish we had the DTH interoperability in India.. I would have kicked off Tata Sky out of my home.

No call back from TataSky...helpline sucks
Tata sky is most frustrating website and has most frustrating helpline number. They are most unprofessional service providers arround. I wanted to reinstall the Tata Sky to my new house. I called them 50 times but most of the times the no doesnt get transfered to customer service represntatives. I dont think anything like exists...I eneded up spending 500 rs on calling them from my mobile no. Even after 5 days i didnt get call for installation. This is the most unprofessional behaviour. I dont know whom should i talk...is there anyone from Tata Sky reading this forum ??
Guys dont buy Tata Sky anymore, wait for Reliance or go for Dish TV

Denial Of Service
I have procured the hardware directly from tatasky through my creditcard and was told that I am eligible for 1 months free subscription when the services were activated the person activating the service did not select the right package and hence my services were deactivated after some time now they want me to recharge through a coupon so that they can activate my account.
This is cheating, why should I suffer for a mistake of theirs, also after sending 3 emails and spending money on STD calls which are put on hold for long periods there is no response from their side.
This reflects very poorly on TATA's name, and I would definately not recommmed tatasky to anybody, on the contrary I say the local cable wala is more reliable in this matter, at least he can be approached locally and his services can be depended on.

Relocation harassment!
I am a TATA SKY customer at Bangalore and my customer ID is 1004808547. I have relocated my house very recently (last SUNDAY - 2Mar08). I called up customer care and informed well in advance about my relocation (much before 30hours) and got appointment. I shifted my house and i was waiting... waiting and waiting..till now nobody came to my place. I made around 30calls to tatasky customer care but they kept on telling "it will be done by today" and at the end of day they used to tell "the engg re-scheduled"... and story repeats everyday. There is a BIG gap in comm between customer & eng department due to which customers are having bad time. it is the worst service I ever had in my life time. Thanks to TATASKY for showing heights of irresponsibility and not communicating well to customers. I have learnt a lot from your pathetic service. I missed grand cricket FINAL and also missing today's match :(. It is a mental toucher for the customer and BIG harassment.

Funny Credit System
We paid annual subscription charges worth INR 3000 to Tata Sky and then decided to go for a secondary connection.
Generally when monthly vouchers are paid, the account statement reflects the amount paid and usage charges just like a prepaid card. Strangely for the annual subscription the account balance is always zero - we do not see the balance that is remaining out of 3000 paid like the monthly vouchers.
When the secondary connection balance goes negative Tata Sky deactivates both the connections arguing that they are under the same account. But the same argument seems to be invalid for the INR 3000 they already have under the primary connection!!!! The credit system is obviously faulty and Tata Sky would not acknowledge it let alone do anything about it.

degrading tata brand
I am sorry to see the service of TATA SKY - they are degrading the brand TATA SONS- the service is pathatic - no trained people- not adhering to SLA-i am planing to sue them so that they cannot do the same to others- guide me to reach to consumer forum and to make the problems from TATA SKY known to public so that they can ban the service

After Sales Service
Hi,
I have subscribed to Tata Sky. I find that they charge exorbitant prices for replacement of equipment parts. The battery cover of my remote had broken down (bad build quality, but that's a different issues). Tata Sky service representative says it costs 350/- Rs. to be changed. I don't know how high will the charges be when it comes to some real operative part. It may be because the parts are not available in local market that TATAs are charging so high. It's a kind of monopoly situation. You sell a million pices of equipment and then you keep the service within your company and charge unimaginably high rates for this service. Make more money in servicing than in selling or monthly subscriptions. My advice - Stick yo set-top boxes if you can.

Pathetic after sales service - worst installation experience
There cannot be worst after sales and service than Tata Sky. After several e mail there has been no reply from Tata Sky. They are least bothered about the customer. They have gone into the groove of
monopoly feeling.
I have purchased two Tata Sky connection and without my knowledge they installed one switch. They have charged Rs. 500/- for the switch. Before making the connection active we were not even informed about the switch and after installation they asked for Rs.500/- for the switch. There is nothing mentioned about the switch on their website. While taking the order also they conveniently do not mention anything about the switch. I am still not aware about the criteria for which one has to get the swtich installed. There is absolutely no transparency.
They have mentioned about refer a scheme to friend. I got the web coupon no. At the time of taking the order Tata Sky informed me that I have to give the web coupon no. to the person who delivers the set. At the time of delivery I informed him the web coupon no. then he said that it is to be given to the person who installs it. At the time of installation the person was total arrogant and not bothered about the web coupons. They are luring the customer with scheme but does not want to pay the money.
The experience at the time of installation is so bad that you get the feeling who is the customer- me or Tata Sky? We get the feeling as if they are doing some obligation on us by installing the set top box.
You send 15~20 e mails without getting any reply from them. They do not have courtsey to atleast acknowlede the receipt of e mail.
When we call the customer support all the time new person attends. We need to explain all our problem. Next time the same person refuses to take the call by giving some excuses and we land up talking to some new person.
One of set top box stopped working within three days from installation. It took more than 3 hours for Tata Sky engineers to set the same right and during the process my telephone cables were damaged.
Please do not go for Tata Sky or else you yourself shall repent.
