They asked me for money before they started working my case
I called and told them that I had 32000 in Tax Debt and the guy Chris told me that I can resolve the debt through their firm. And also get protected from garnishment and any liens or levy's. So when I went through the paperwork he sent me, he also asked for 2700 up front for them to start working for me.
So I told him to shove it, cause there is no way that i'm paying anyone to do work for me and they don't know exactly whats the full details of the problem. I really didn't know the full details of why the IRS was hitting me for so much. so a friend of mine told me about a firm the he came across and helped him with his tax issues also. So when I called this company, the person that I spoke to by the name of Mr White was really informative and helpful. He offered me a free Tax Investigation to fully understand my situation. After that he told me what the IRS was looking for and why and also what they can reduce my debt to. I walked away from the debt only Paying 7 cents on the dollar for the total amount. So out of the 32000 I saved around 24000. So to me that was great. I would advise anyone who has tax issues to visit the website of this firm or call and see what they can do for you.
The website is www.settlewiththeirs.info or you can call (949) 333-4374 you can ask for Mr White and he can help you out from there.

Fraud
Tax Masters are frauds! My boyfriend hired them to help with taxes and wasn't satisfied with the service so he sent them a letter telling them they were more or less fired! Well after several attempts to call them and never getting a call back he was sent a letter saying they would'nt give him a refund! Although the contract stated he could get a refund if he was dissatisfied. They screwed him out of $4000 and only had 1 20 minutes conference call with the IRS! What a bunch of DOPES! I hope they get SUED!Buttholes!

Masters at Tax Rip Off
April 22, 2010
Over Promised - Under Delivered
I am one of what appears to be a growing number of honest folks who have fallen victim to Tax Masters, i.e. what they promise vs what they deliver. I suppose like many Americans I lost my job in late 2007. I went to work selling insurance on commission. After several years working for corporate America (salary, benefits, etc.) I wasn't very good in the commisioned sales arena. No offense to all those folks who are a heck of a lot better at it than I was. To survive I withdrew my IRA funds throughout 2008 as we adjusted to my new (lack of) income. We drastically changed our lifestyle but needed to re-do our finances requiring the IRA withdrawal. I did screw up and not withhold enough taxes on the withdrawals and ... after filing 2008 taxes I faced a pretty significant tax bill. So ... I called Tax Masters. Employee Thelma Coleman told me on the phone that Tax Masters were specialists in helping folks, "like you in the same situation" negotiate with the IRS to get a reduced tax liability. She even told my how much I could expect to pay. Being desparate and needing their "expertise" I agreed to let them take my case. Before we concluded our phone call I paid, in full, the $4, 550 in up front fees via my credit card. Needless to say, almost a year later, the IRS did not accept the Offer in Compromise and yep, I am liable for the entire amount, plus penalties, plus interest. So, I am worse off becaust I owe the IRS more today than I did a year ago ... and I am out the $4, 550 I paid to Tax Masters. So go ahead a laugh and call me stupid - first for making a mistake calculating the tax on the IRA withdrawal and second for NOT checking out Tax Masters. To try an help folks facing a similar situation think about this. First, before TM told me how much the fees were they wanted to know the liability, and second, they told me I would end up owing the IRS 20% of original liability. Of the $4, 550 I paid TM $3, 250 was for Settlement Analysis (this involved filling out a Form 656 (available on IRS.gov for free) and I provided all of the information that went onto the form. I was also charged $750 for ACS Collections Case. This is Automated Collection Services in the event you apply for an Installment Agreement - don't pay and the IRS attaches to you bank accounts. I was also charged $550 for IRS Consultation Fee. The point of all this is not to argue the amount charged for these "sevices". The point is, as was in my case, if the IRS was not going to accept the offer in compromise based on my financials. TM should have known that because TM and the IRS use the same form to calculate one's ability to pay. Hence the RIP OFF! Maybe TM should have charged a sucker like me $500 to complete form 433 just to tell me I'm out of luck. But no. They are smarter than that and they made $4, 550 on a case that was destined to be declined by the IRS anyway. This is one for the White Collar Crime book.

POOR SERVICES, FALSE ADVERTISING
I hired Tax Masters to file 3 yrs worth of returns and negotiate a settlement. After paying $4000.00 I got the returns filed, which had errors and my offer in compromise was rejected based on something a simpleton could figure out let alone "tax professionals" . So now not only do I owe the 54k I know spent another 4k for nothing. I ended up owing more than when I started. The false advertising and hope these people give you is almost criminal.
I am handling the OIC appeals myself and will probably get better results. My advice is educate yourself and take care of tax matters yourself. It can be done.

Unauthorized withdraw of funds
I am currently dealing w/ the IRS on an installment agreement. While I was home on vacation I decided that I would try and resolve my existing debt w/ the IRS quicker through Tax Masters. I saw there commercial on the TV and quickly called to inquire about their services. I spoke w/ a representative who I told I would like to resolve my debt of 8k with the IRS. I started at 19k but now I had paid down to 8k. He suggested they normally take cases from 15-10k and up so they would only charge me $3000.00. After he told me that I told him that I would have to wait in order to access my finances in order to meet the $3000.00 requirement. He proceeded to tell me that I shouldn't wait and he would just me set up in the system and we could work the payments / adjustments out later after I signed the contract if I couldn't meet the payment requirements. Initally we talked about a $500.00 downpayment after I had succesfully signed the paperwork it would begin. So I gave him my Debit / Credit card info to set up the account. WRONG IDEA! We discussed what the program would consist of and what the payments would be and that he would send me the documents and was trying to pressure me to sign the documents / contracts ASAP. I told him I would look them over and send them back in the morning. Not even 2 hours later I was looking at my bank account to pay other bills and they had already debited $500.00 dollars out of my account without authorization or a signed contract. I looked in my email to see if I had received any paper work and INDEED I hadn't. Scared to death and feeling overwhelmed, I proceeded to call the Billing Department to look into this. I called and was put on hold for over 20 mins and then had to call back and finally someone answered. When I spoke with the lady I asked, " I just spoke w/ a rep concerning my tax issues and I haven't even signed any paper work or contract for that matter and you have already withdrawn over 500 dollars out of my account w/ out authorization. She proceeded to tell me that I had given verbal authorization for them to debit my account over the phone which I hadn't. She said they couldn't refund me because I had. MIND YOU I still hadn't received any paperwork concerning the contract! I began to panic and told her, I no longer wanted to do any business w/ them and don't plan on doing this service w/ them and I wanted my Money back. She told me I could send a letter to the Quality Assurance telling them I wanted to suspend service...WHAT FREAKING SERVICE? Really, I didn't sign anything or authorize service. Anyhow, then she proceeded to tell me at that time once Quality Assurance received the letter at that time they would determine if I deserved the Refund. I was SCAMMED and ripped off in a matter of 2 hours w/ out authorizing this. No I am going through hell w/ my bank trying to dispute this matter. Tax Masters should be shut down and I don't understand how they continue to get away with this behavior. I am appalled.

fraud/theft/scam
My husband and I contacted Tax Masters to stop the IRS from garnishing my wages. They had already been garnishing my husbands SSDI check, but wanted more. Tax Masters said they could help and requested $ 1600 payment. Little did we know that this was just a down payment and they would want more. I recieved all the paperwork and contract via email. I decided against signing and phoned them to cancel. They refused to allow me to do so. I then called my bank and put a stop on the withdrawal from my account. I then used the money to pay bills. Next thing I know, I am getting overdraft notices from my bank. Tax Masters had gone ahead and made the withdrawal of funds, and the the bank allowed them to do so! Calling Tax Masters did no good. Neither did calling the bank. I sent complaints out against both Tax Masters and Wells Fargo Bank. I finally got my money back after several months, but it was not from Tax Masters. The bank refunded my money after being asked to do so by the Comptroller of the Currency, Administrator of National Banks. I was lucky, many others aren't and have been bilked for far more by Tax Masters. I also submitted a complaint to The Attorney General of Texas and did recieve confirmation from them. Someone needs to start a class action lawsuit against these theives! I would like to get the banks money back for them!

Intent to commit Credit Card Fraud
After reviewing over and over again the facts verball I wanted an Offer in compromise with Tax Masters and to resolve IRS and State collection monies for approximatel 2-3 years+. After saying yes to everything they tried to commit fraud and ask me for my credit card informaition early while they faxed over a contract that contradicted what I said and immediately I could see the scam. Tried to scam me
I gave Tax Masters my bank information to the tune of $2125.00 (one of 4 installments). After many reviews on the internet I got a very bad feeling. In less than two hours I called to cancel after I found out how bad they are. Of course, I tried to cancel the bank draft as well. They said they could not stop the transaction but I did at the bank. They emailed documents to sign and I never did. Got an email from the rep that I originally talked to. Emailed back that I had canceled the service. The guy had the nerve to call me back and tell me that I had entered into a contract and was liable for the payments. With no money changing hands and no signed contract I told him good luck.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!

Fraud, Deceptive trade Practices, refusal to return money
Anyone who has been defrauded by this company needs to link up, provide the documentation, bank records of the fraud, letters from the IRS etc.
Please go to the URL at: http://tax-masters.pissedconsumer.com/taxmasters-scam-3a-everyone-please-read-20091016159444.html
We are going after them.
If you have not already done so PLEASE report them to the Texas State Attorney Generals Office, your own State Attorney Generals Office, the FBI, the FTC and the Better Business Bureau.
Essentially, I am told by all these agencies - if the complaint volume (number of complaints) is small... they do nothing. If the volume is high, they actually investigate.
To me, this smacks of the agencies not doing their job regardless of the amount... because they are there to protect the citizens. Apparently that is not the way our current government operates... so we need to be diligent, report them and put them out of business - as well as recover our funds.
The law suit we will be leveling is essentially a class-action suit - and requires participation from everyone who has been victimized by tax masters. Everyone please respond.
