Excessive Overdraft Fees
It all started on 9/25/2009. "The Great Glitch" as TD Bank called it. I went to withdraw $50.00 out of my account and couldn't get any money out. Went home to check my accounts online and couldn't get access to them. Then tried to call and couldn't get through to customer service.

Keep in mind that all of my paychecks are direct deposit along with my husbands Social Security. Because I work 2 full time jobs for a total of 75 hours a week, everything I do is online. Auto Pay, Direct Deposit, etc.. According to TD Bank they were implementing a new program and changing the way they charged overdraft fees. Since everything I do is automatic, TD Bank would process all my direct payments 1st, return them, charge me outrageous fees and then post my direct deposit payroll. Of course at that point I would have a negative balance . Some weeks I would have around $15.00 left out of a $1000.00 paycheck and no real bills covered. They had returned them all, charged their fees and then credit my paycheck.

I couldn't hardly get it stopped, because they would get my paycheck, before I could and take all their fees first. This has sent me into a financial tailspin, that I am having a hard time getting out of. I work so many hours, because I am trying to climb out of a financial mess from my husbands illness and the last thing I needed is their thievery.

I went in to the branches several times, made numerous calls, all to no avail. As of 1/12/2010 they have taken $4, 370.00 in overdraft fees. By the time I realized they were not going to correct anything, it took my companies several weeks to change my direct deposits and I am still working on canceling the auto payments. After finally contacting the BBB, they are now offering to zero the negative balances out, but "too bad" about my $4, 370.00 in fees, not including all the fees charged by the companies who got things returned to them.

Someone should seriously look at the banks and begin regulating their fee scales. This is detrimental to the "little man" who has to work for a living.

NSF FEES WHEN ACCOUNT WAS NEVER IN THE NEGATIVE
this bank just has all sorts of scams in place i look online at my balance (because i don't trust them) make a deposit come right back and check it and the balaces don't match. They give you NSF fees when you are not negative maybe because it just says debit with no description so they get lots of money for customers that don't notice this scam. It is the worst bank ever.

unwarrented fees
I deposited a government check into my account on a Saturday. On my receipt printed from TD bank, it said my available balance was $269. Therefore, I went and paid a bill, and used my debit card for little transactions. Then I checked my account and I have overdraft fees. That was impossible because I keep my receipts and a spreadsheet for all of my transactions, plus I use online banking. I went to the bank and was told that since it was a Saturday, even tho the receipt said my available balance was $269, the balance was not available until Monday. So all of the transactions I did through out the weekend were all charged a fee.. the total fees charged were $560!! First of all, I’m in the “opt out program’..anyway.. I was furious because my account was not overdrawn..and the receipt I have from the bank told me my AVAILABLE balance. So I was told from the bank where I live that they need to call my 'home bank" (where I opened the account, which is 2 hours away from where I live now) because the bank where I live has no say in what goes on in my account. Which i thought was bullshit..they can take my money..but they cant refund it? So anyway, where I live they said we understand the confusion and your account was not negative, it only became negative because of the charges. They explained this to the manager at my "home bank' and the manager did not want to refund me all of the fees. I was furious because my account was not negative to begin with..i never knew that if the receipt says my available balance..and its a weekend..its not really available until that next Monday. so with all of my fees refunded I would still have 50 bucks in my account.. but instead they refused to refund them all..AND on top of that my bill was returned and not paid..so now I'm going to end up getting a bounced check fee from my bill company!!! Absolutely ridiculous! I decided to call the 800 number because not being refunded fees i shouldnt have gotten to begin with was unacceptable to me. So as of now, all of the fees have been refunded…this morning I withdrew all of my money and closed my account.
The point of this complaint is, TD Bank is a very manipulative company. They are changing the policy of the previous Commerce Bank Company and not sending those who have had an account with Commerce a policy change. Therefore, they are charging everyone unwarrented fees, and basically robbing tons of people. When someone calls to find out what is going on, they manipulate people into thinking they are wrong and TD is right. BUT this time, they got the wrong person. I keep ALL of my receipts AND have a spreadsheet AND use online banking, so i know i did not overdraw my account and as a result receive $560 worth of fees. When i was told I was not going to be refunded..I did not stop until I spoke with someone who would actually listen to me and find out what exactly happened and I was finally returned my stolen property. Now my account is closed and TD Bank lost a very LOYAL and LONG time customer.

Unfair Practices
Where do I begin, since the "merger" with Commerce (my original bank), I've had nothing but problems with TD. They allow falsified charges from KNOWN scammers, (one without even the proper routing number on the fake check) charge overdrafts for these debits and make you go through hoops to reverse them, IF they reverse them. They allow you to CHARGE (debit visa) beyond your balance and hit you with $35 OVERDRAFT fees for charges under $10. Their "customer service" claims they do this to "save" you from the embarrassment of the card being declined. Really? So you are saving me from embarrassment by charging me $35 to make a $7 purchase. I work retail and deal with customers using debit every day, other banks simply come up as "Declined", no embarrassment, got to pay another way. TD does not give you the choice of alternate payment, they merely rape you for the privilege of not being embarrassed. Oh and they wont let you know you are overdrawn, but WILL continue letting you make debit purchases (and more overdrafts). Tne only reason I have not left is that I havent had the money left over after bills to open a new account elsewhere, with sufficient timing to switch my auto deposit/debits to the new bank.

BANK FEES/RUDENESS/LIES
Since TD Bank Levittown changed from Commerce to TD Bank I have nothing but problems. Whenthey had that huge computer glitch I had many bank fees from them that I need not recover all from them plus fees from other facilities that I had to repay that I was never repayed for. Then I had a fradualent charges on my account in pending status I called TD Bank right away! They told me they could not do anything for me until the money was taking from my account. I went to the bank the next day the girl tells me only a MANAGER can handle fees and she does not work Satudays ITS A PERK OF BEING A MANAGER. I said she was not here Friday either what about Monday. No Mondays she is out getting buisness. Does you have a phone number you can call her and leave a message "NO". Is there anyone higher. "NO". Which I know is a lie, my husband already had a name. TD Bank customer service is rude the people are horrible. The are nickle and dimeing people. How could you? How can the government not step in to help! Why are they not looking in to see they way they are doing things? They are taking the higher amount to lower amounts and waiting. Their system is all screwed up the totals are never right! There system is wrong we need help!!! Where is the GOVERNMENT!!! TD BANK IS ROBBING US ILLEGALLY AND YOU ARE NOT HELPING!!!1

Outrageous Fees
I fully admit that I made a mistake with my bank account. I did not receive my banking statement from TD in September or October and completely forgot to go to a branch and request one. That said, I used my debit card for a purchase which caused an overdraft. However, I was not notified by TD Bank for over a month about the overdraft and although I continued to use the debit card with no problem, each purchase caused another overdraft along with high fee. When I finally received the notice from TD, I immediately went to a local branch to speak with a representative. I was told that she would "Attempt to get the overdraft fees either waived or reduced". I then deposited enough money into the account to cover any other purchases made prior to my knowledge of the original overdraft & to cover half of the overdraft fees. I was told the representative would call me the next day with an answer. No call the next day. Two days later I called, was told she was with a customer and would I hold. I replied I would. I was on hold for 20 minutes and finally another rep got on the phone and told me the rep had left for the day. I called again the next day and was told she was out to lunch and would call me on her return. Again, no call from the rep. We are now up to the fifth day of this nonsense, I call, am told that the rep is out until after 'the new year', which was 9 days from my call. I then drove back to the branch and spoke with the manager who told me he would attempt with 'Regional' to get some of the fees waived and he would phone me the next day. No call came in the next day, however; he called the 2nd day and told me that the request was denied. He also told me "TD Bank only waives fees if it is their fault". I feel it is their fault, had they notified me immediately of the problem, I could have stopped it. Instead, when they withdrew the original overdraft fee (outrageous amount), it then created a domino effect causing each use afterwards to be an 'overdraft'. If TD had sent out the statements in September and October, none of this would have happened. They were in the midst of their 'change-over' from Commerce and royally messed up not just my account, but thousands others. Why will they not take responsibility? I am willing to pay 1/2 the fees, but not the full amount of over $500 (for four overdrafts!) plus a $20 fee for low funds in the account, whatever that means. I had overdraft coverage with Commerce, why was it not carried over when TD took over? I now understand why so many have left TD since their takeover. I am leaving them also and I will not pay any monies towards the overdrafts because of their non-cooperation and rudeness. I have CD's in their bank along with a trust fund that deposits bi-yearly. I will withdrawl my CD's (taking a penalty if necessary) and stop the auto-deposit of trust fund and will take my money and business to another bank. Beward of TD, they are not customer oriented and it is disgusting that the taxpayers have bailed out all these banks and the result is they do not care about their customers.

Bank Card Error
I went to the teller and asked her to pull my account via my bank card and requested couple hundred bucks from my account. She nodded then replied "Sir you dont have money in the account". I told her it cannot be, I viewed my account online earlier and I have plenty of funds. After arguing with me for 10 minutes, she was like "ouch, your bank card pulls 2 accounts up on my computer, one account is yours and other belongs to a different client who have the same name!!!
I did not panic or anything, just asked her to fix it. She said I have to speak to a rep at the branch... After explaining the issue to the rep, she said "well, everything looks fine with your card, i dont know why it pulls up 2 accounts.. next time if you want to take money out of your account, write down your account number, not let the teller pull it by your card!!! Since the representative is obviously retarded, i decided to call customer service and explain the issue as I became concerned that the other customer (with similar name) can take money off his account (if he were to have enough money in his account, the teller would have given me his money !!)
So i called customer service and explained the issue, hoping they take corrective action. The call center person said after i explained the matter in details " Sir, until now, i dont understand what the issue is?!!!, what do you want me to do ... you told them at the branch, that is about it... if they can do something they will do it... is there anything else I can help you with... ""
I have never been angry at any organization before, but as much as i loved commerce bank, I totally hate TD... and I hope they burn in hell.

Fees and errors
TD is just a bunch of thiefs, aside from charging huge fees left and right,
they rearrange your tranactions to hit you with overdraft fees,
The statement they show online is different from the one at the branch.
Branch people and call center people are so rude and not helpful at all.
They dont show the tranactions as they happen. You cannot tell how much money you have if you check your balance online. They confuse you to make mistakes to charge you bogus fees,
I was charged 300+ overdraft fees when my account did not go negative at all. Even the branch person could not explain it... but gladly explain the fee!!!
I am puzzled by them - They are the worst bank ever existed. Just a bunch of crooks.
STAY AWAY...

ASSESSMENT OF OVERDRAFT FEES
AFTER BEING ASSURED THAT ALL COMPUTER GLTICHES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED I CONTINUE TO HAVE UNWARRANTED OVERDRAFT FEES ASSESSED TO MY ACCOUNT; AND WHEN I CONTACTED THE BANK BRANCH FOR SERVICE I WAS TOLD THAT THE BANK MGR OR ASST MGER HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO APPROVE THE TRANSACTION(S). HOW CONVENIENT THAT BOTH PERSONS ARE ON VACATION AT THE SAME TIME AND I HAVE TO WAIT 3-5 DAYS TO HAVE MORE THAN $385 RETURNED TO MY ACCOUNT. COMMERCE WAS A BLESSING...TD IS A NIGHTMARE! I AM CLOSING MY ACCOUNT!!!

pending items
They bounce on pending transactions but they do not credit pending deposits
What happened is I had + 43.22 in my account I made a deposit before the cut off
time of 300 .oo my account went in the neg 179.50 on pending transactions because they would not put my deposit in the pending . so deposit dont count as pending but debits count.
Just another way to screw the little person.
