TD Bank Reviews

Bogus Fees
I check my checking acct with TD Bank daily, because they have been screwing up so badly since their computer overhaul. I noticed a $210 fee for overdrafts, even though my account was never negative according to my online statement. I go to the bank to find out why I'm being charged overdraft fees. The Assistant Mgr prints out a copy of my statement. Although the debits were all the same on his statement and the one I had printed out at home, the balances on his statements were different, showing overdrafts. So how is it TD can show the account information one way on the internet, and different in the bank. I think they're just manipulating the numbers in the computer so they can charge these bogus fees. I think it's a complete scam, and I filed a formal complaint with The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Their website is: www.helpwithmybank.gov if anyone else feels that TD needs to own up to their scams!!!

worst customer service/inaccuracy in online banking
I've been banking with TD Bank for over 5 years. Back in October 2009, they had a system error which delayed transactions, direct deposits and especially, lack of customer service. I've been told the only branch to be helpful is the one you opened the account with which was Garden City. When I made the call and explained what the problem was, they insisted 'there is no system failure and we can not return the overdraft fees'. I had to physically walk into the Merrick Branch and explain to them the problem and with no hesitation, they returned all fees. Meanwhile I was there, I signed an opt-out form which basically says, 'you can't make transactions if the $ is not there and the card will be declined'. I felt that would be better to have so I can stay on top of what I have and don't have.
A couple days ago, I checked my online banking, as I do every day, and I was charged $210 in overdraft fees. Two days later, I was charged $70 in overdraft fees. After speaking with several representatives at my local branch, the only branch who can help me is Garden City. When I called Garden City and had the rep. take my info and # for the branch manager to call me, she asked what it was about. Tired of explaining to several representatives, I didn't want to explain it again knowing I would have to explain it to the manager when I get a returned call. Representative's response, 'then she may not even call you back'. Exactly that happened. The same rep. called me back and said 'they can't do anything about it because I had too many fees returned. I mostlikely knew she was referring to the fees during their 'system failure'.
Today, after reviewing my account and the fees taken on online banking, the fees didn't correspond with the negative balances after the transactions were in. They took more than they were suppose to. I made a call to the East Meadow Branch and she read off the transactions the fees reflect on, meanwhile my online banking is showing different.
HOW IS THIS ONLINE BANKING HELPFUL IF I CAN'T GO BY WHAT IT SAYS, BUT I HAVE TO GO BY IT WHEN THEY TELL ME TO SEE HOW THE TRANSACTIONS COME IN BEFORE MY DIRECT DEPOSIT DID AND THATS THE REASONS OF THE OVERDRAFT FEES? YET WHEN I WANT THEM TO EXPLAIN WHY THEY TOOK MORE $ THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE, THEY WANT TO TELL ME WHAT IS NOT SHOWING ONLINE.
Of course, after speaking with the rep., it was suggested to call the branch I opened in which is basically a dead end.

Incompetence, Exorbitant Fees
This is an untrustworthy, poorly operated place to keep your money. You deliberately process payments in a way that will incur overdraft fees. You do not automatically cash paychecks which have been automatically cashed for 8 years with Commerce Bank and are secured by TD Bank. Your customer service is awful, on the phone and within each location (I have never met such indifferent, incompetent employees in any bank- lost paychecks? deposits that are never completed?). You famously and consistently are afflicted by computer glitches and employee incompetence, which leads to inconvenience and stress for your poor customers. I will tell everyone I know exactly how awful your bank is, and I will be closing my account as soon as all of my checks have cleared.

Over draft fees
On Sunday December 6th I discovered from the bank that my account was hacked into, and that led the manager to further investigate the issue. In the mean time the bank started charging me overdraft fees ranging from $110 to $220 and there were about 10 such fees charged to my account.

I told the bank manager in the Ritthenhouse Square branch about the fees and he told me to contact the home branch were I opened the account. I told him why should I call them aren't you all linked? But he was very firm in his answer, so I called the Chadds Ford, Pa branch and they referred me to Newtown Square branch. Now I am in contact with this branch and it is almost two weeks that I have got any response from them.

I am not sure which branch refunded my money, but I got my money back but still I have not got my overdraft fees back.

where is my money going?
I usually keep track of my balance and there have been times when i've had OD fees, but ever since TD took over I noticed that my balance seems to fluctuate. Today I go to the bank to deposit &173.88. My balance, according to the TD Bank ATM from three days prior was at $51...I get my balance back after the deposit and it is $87.03...extremely confused I went inside to ask the teller for a bank statement for the month and explained my situation. According to my bank statement, I had only $28 in my account and a pending OD fee of $35...Now mathematically this does not all make sense because I should at least have had over a hundred dollars in my account. Christmas is in about a week or so, I've got bills to pay and now I cannot afford gifts for my own family...I am a broke college student and TD Bank is fucking up my universe. Not to mention that the teller did not even bring over a higher representative to help, she only gave me the number of the branch and told me to call tomorrow. TD Bank is horrible and this isn't the first time this has happened to me. I am switching banks ASAP!

Ridiculous Fees
What once was a convenient bank has become completely and irrevocably inconvenient. New fee structures forced upon old Commerce Bank customers are out of control and un-matched in the industry. As if a failed system migration was not enough I have been forced to pay fees through no fault of my own.

TD Bank will fine you when their systems do not correctly update your account balance real time. The will fine you for every occurrence. Their customer service will parrot back boiler plate responses and act as falsely sympathetic corporate drones.

Based on my experiences with this horribly unorganized banking monster I am cancelling my account and moving my money to a bank that actually appreciates my business and I encourage you to do the same.

ONLINE ACCOUNT INFO
TD banks' online account information is never updated accurately, between deposits and reflecting deductions. I am almost suspicious that it's so inaccurate so that customers will overdraw, thinking they have funds. and get the unbelievably hefty $35 overdraft fee. and I think they know what theyre doing is unjustified. bc they reversed it a few times for me, but now I just want to close this account and overdraft fees are keeping from doing that.
They try, but it's just not a trustworthy bank.

Worst takeover ever, I miss Commerce Bank.
Ever since the takeover, I have become extremely disgruntled at the lack of customer care, service, and general information this bank has to offer. I was a customer of Commerce Bank for over 10 years. If I needed customer service, I could rest assured they would help me over the phone anytime, anyplace, and in a very timely manner. I never had problems retrieving my information or changing my preferences. The customer service was superior.

Now I want to withdraw all of my money and hide it in a mattress. The customer service is appalling. I have had nothing but problems since the "system update", many of which I experienced during my three week vacation to California (a TD Bank free zone). These problems left me without access to my money. My credit Visa was declined on several occasions, despite having over $2, 000 in my account. When I tried to reach someone via telephone, I was placed on hold for more than 30 mins each time, most of which I ended up hanging up before I even reached a human being. They then conveniently lost my password for my account, calling it "expired".

When I returned, I went into my local branch to update my information and a month later they are still telling me my password is expired. I went in yet another time and wasted more of my time to attempt to reinstate my password. I have yet to know if it is in fact working.

Most recently, I went to the bank a week ago for a replacement debit card to which I was denied due to a "regional" problem with the machines. And a half-assed excuse of we don't know when it'll be working again. A friend of mine also went to the bank, having had a problem with his card strip not working properly. When he asked for a new card, the teller promptly cut his old card in half, before he remembered the debit card machine was in fact not working.

Currently, I am on the phone with the bank right now, and have been trying to speak to an individual in order to make a simple transfer. I have been listening to the hold music for 25 mins and 44 seconds. TD Bank may have eaten Commerce Bank, but it has not even an iota of the quality, making their slogan "America's Most Convenient Bank" null and void.

I shudder with disgust.

FEES
Opening a new account (NOT with TD BANK) unless you have millions maybe! What’s up with all the fees? I got so many fees from this bank from when I opened it to now I can’t take it anymore. I have a small business just making it month to month and the fees are just too much! The only time I have problems is when I write a checks let me explain. I deposit checks on Sunday but I don’t have the funds until Tuesday and that’s ok. What’s not ok is when I write a check out TD gets the check does not post it in pending transactions and then on Tuesday they take it out of my account and say they got it on Monday then give me a fee for it because I did not have funds in my account yet! Wait I’m not done anything I did on Monday like take $40 out of a TD atm get gas and go to walmart now puts my account off because of the check they say they got Monday! I now have $140 in fees one for the check one for taking cash out of my TD atm one for gas and one for using my debit card at walmart. It’s how their software works it’s designed to fee you any way it can so make sure you have lost of $$ to wast if you open a account with TD.
