debit card
td bank has a new change .They will let you use ur debit card when there is no money left in the acct. So if you are set up for an auto debit for 4.00 and it is over ur Bal they will let it go and keep going every time you use it they just let it add up 35.00 each time.
And in these times I go down to my last penny so we just put in 36 hrs of work to find out that 80% of my pay went to bank fees .But good news of of the 800.00 in fees they could wave 300.00 BIG DEAL! I know I can get my kids td pens & deposit slips forChristmas there still free right ?

CONVENIENTLY SCAMING YOU BANK .HOW IS THIS RIGHT FOR THE WORKING PEPOLE ?

Abuse of Fees Draining my checking account at TD
Ever scince TD took over commerce bank I have been hit with a barage of fees that were never charged before the merge. My account seems to dwindle and its difficult to figure where the money is going. They use clever and difficult to understand codes after 5 and 15 dollar charges. I have to keep checking my account several times per day to catch these charges. Iam going to absolutely drop this bank. Gregory Malangone.

False Advertisement
I attempted to email TD Bank with the complaint listed below but as soon as I tried to the submit the email I was redirected to a page telling me that "the web site cannot display the page"...I guess that pretty much sums up TD Bank...can't help but laugh at the irony of it all!

I cannot believe that TD Bank would have the nerve to continue with the use of the slogan "America's most convenient bank" after merging with Commerce Bank. I truly believe that Commerce Bank WAS America's most convenient bank, however, this is not the case with TD Bank. Regardless of the alleged Florida Ponzi scheme involvement, TD Bank has in fact become America's most INCONVENIENT bank! Everyone I know that deals with TD Bank is beyond stressed out over the astronomical overdraft fees (without asking the customer's permission if they wish to be part of this "overdraft service") as well as monthly service charges, minimum balance charges, etc. Not to mention the change in payroll availability funds - money that used to be available immediately so that people could survive is no longer available. Oh wait, $100 of that money is available - but what do you get for touching that money? That's correct - ANOTHER FEE!!! The ethics of this bank continue to stun me, and and the audacity to call yourselves "America's most convenient bank" is beyond appalling. On top of it, the customer service at TD Bank is offically in the toilet - employees sound more like robots when questioned about all the changes in policy's and fees..."We sent out the information to you - didn't you read it?" I assume they're talking about the large pamphlet full of fine print where somewhere they managed to hide the changes that would hit their customers the hardest. No, I didn't read the pamphlet because I was too busy watching the commercials with Regis and Kelly swearing that nothing has changed but the name of the bank!! Is that how it works? Flood the media outlets with celebrities telling us that nothing has changed and then slip all the CHANGES into a pamphlet that you are well aware no one will read! Sounds to me like false advertisement...maybe it's time to take THAT to the media because I've had about enough of Regis and Kelly telling me lies while TD Bank takes my money!

Pay for Visa in cash - money taken from checking?!
This happened a few years back, but it's worth mentioning to anyone who may have both a TD Visa AND your checking account with TD as well.

My mother had her credit ruined by my father (long story short) but I was able to get a student Visa card which I permitted my mother to use, so long as she put cash on it within a few days of using it.

This was fine and went on without trouble for a few years (and was great for my credit score! XD).

Then I opted to open a checking account at TD - and being a student I went for their cheapest package - where you were not permitted any "in person" visits to a teller without a charge being applied.

Well that's no issue.

Until my mother went in and started paying for her purchases.

Suddenly I was getting small charges on my chequing account. Here, there, everywhere. They added up fast (and to a student, even 20-40 dollars in fees like that could eat up my budget for a month!). Finally *I* went in and asked them what the hell that was all about - their response - *I* was using the teller services.

Luckily my MOTHER was there, and called over one of the Tellers who knew her well, and both of us showed her our ID - proving that *I* had not done any such thing, nor was it EVER for my checking account or banking, nor were any funds from my chequing account being paid onto my Visa Card (which my mother and I always paid for the Visa in cash!).

The manager explained to me succinctly that if I was to have the cheap checking account, that my Visa counted as part of that account now, and paying any money to a teller - EVEN IF IT WAS CASH - meant that I deserved to be charged (where I never was before!)

My mother had words with him - we canceled my account that very day - and lo and behold no further charges went against me for my mother paying off my Visa with cash.

Be forewarned, this is a LAME, shady practice - and it could be happening to YOU!

Overdraft Robbery
Not sure how, but TD Bank has successfully sucked $193 out of me today. For ridiculous charges which I didnt even have to accept to be "overdrafted" for. It all started when my account when my account was hit with an overdraft charge from Vibe magazine (an out of buisness magazine I am not even subscribed to) if this was Commerce Bank the charge would have been denied and I would have still had a little bit of money in my account. But I was hit with $8 + $35 to the bank for the overdraft... I was then hit with a similar charge for $10 + another $35 service charge. This is when I am issued a paper telling me I owe $87 to the bank... I am surprised... I try to call up... But apparently with Commerce went the great customer service. So I wait on hold for about 30 minutes until I am told "we cant help you go into your local bank". I go in the next day to find my account has been charged while in the negatives AGAIN.. And I am at an amazing -$177!!! At this point I sit down with a lady who helps me file a "investigation" for these charges. She assures me I will not me charged anymore. 2 days later I go to check my account balance and I am missing additional money... She must have forgotten to mention the Service Charge coming up for the end of the month... I go into close my account, and pay my $193 that I apparently owe these blood suckers... And instead of feeling relief, I have to watch my account for an additional week because any unauthorized charges may actually REOPEN a bank account which I tried to close down???

IS THIS EVEN LEGAL?

This bank is ridiculous, I cant believe they are getting away with this right now. This is robbery in the truest sense of the word.

$600.00 + of OverDraft Fees.
My complaint against this bank is as follows:

Apparently, when the bank changed to their new system they opt to put $500.00 on your card, therefore if you use your debit card for a $2.00 purchase, even with no money in the account the purchase will go thru, however, you will be charged a $35.00 OverDraft Fee.

This is what happen to me. I had some unauthorized charges go thru the bank. I went to the bank and these items were in Pending Status. Even though, I had Receipts to tell what these Consumers had promised to take, took the receipts to the King of Prussia Branch, they still paid the items and charged me OverDraft fees. This is the start of how the bank messed up my account. Unfortnately, I am not rich. Because of this, I had called Customer Services and advised a TD Bank, C.S. Rep., I had put a Stop Payment on my electric bill, which was $364.00. The Customer Service Rep. said, "On no, your Mortgage was paid and the Electric Bill. I was suprised and I looked at my balance on-line and there was a POSTIVE BALANCE IN MY ACCOUNT OF $372.00. The Customer Service Rep. took the Stop Payment that I had put on my Electric Bill and that is when the night mare began.

Taking the Customer Service Rep. at his word was a big mistake... I went to the Gas Station and put Gas in my Car, and I went to the Grocery Store and purchased Item. It was not until I went to a WAWA and noticed I had a Negitive Balance in my account of -458. Now, I was shocked because why would I be able to get money using my Debit Card when I don't have the money in my account (remember, I had checked my balance on-line and I had a Positive Balance of $372.00 in my account). I called the bank again, and the Customer Service Person, Maurice said, oh that's okay, the bank lets you get money (I thought since I had a problem with some transaction, the bank knew and was allowing me to use my card), that's what the Customer Service Rep. said. Who knew that everytime I used the card, I was being charged a $35.00 OverDraft Fee. I had used my Debit Card the previous week and my Direct Deposit hadn't been Deposited into my account (because of TD Banks problem, I didn't even know about this problems until I noticed my Direct Deposits were not being put into my account on the scheduled date). This caused me problems, but I didn't Charge TD Bank for this Hugh Error).

All I ever heard was the Bank is getting a New System and that is why you may have problems with Direct Deposit. Never knew what the new system was.

Once I saw the Negitive -458 Balance I found out that the Bank now has a Discretionary OverDraft Service. I was never given a choice whether I would want this service, WHICH I DON'T WANT. WHY WOULD I WANT TO PAY $OVERDRFT FEES, WHEN USING MY DEBIT CARD, I MEAN, I MADE PURCHASES ON MY CARD FOR $2.00, $3.00 AND TD BANK is charging me $35.00 each for charges as such.

Of couse I had things coming in and my Direct Deposits. By the time everything came in I have OverDraft Fees of over $600.00.

I explained to the Bank the situation; and how their Customer Service Rep. gave me bad information. Also, just a week ago when I used my card, I was declined because I didn't have enough money in my account. Don't you think the Bank should tell you if this System is now available.

I am so mad. I had 3 Direct Deposits come in and you know that Bank took all my money. I had to cancel my Direct Deposit because as I explained to them, I am a SINGLE WOMEN WITH 2 TEENAGE KIDS, MY MORTGAGE IS DUE, AND OTHER BILLS. ALSO, I NEED TO FEED MY FAMILY. THEY STILLL TOOK ALL MY MONEY. I OFFERED TO WORK SOMETHING OUT.

I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR THAT THIS BANK WITH ALL THEIR PROBLEMS SHOULD CHARGE ME $600.00 OVERDRAFT FEES WHEN THEY NEVER ADVISED ME OF THIS DISCRETIONARY OVERDRAFT SERVICE; OPT IN. I WAS NEVER GIVEN THE CHOICE TO OPT IN OR OUT. SINCE THE BANK MADE UP THE MISTAKES, EVEN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DIDN'T GIVE ME THE CORRECT INFORMATION, DON'T YOU THINK THEY SHOULD EAT THESE OVERDRAFT CHARGES?

I AM AT THE POINT OF DOING BANKING THE OLD WAY. I THINK THIS SYSTEM IS JUST A WAY TO STEAL CUSTOMERS MONEY; SINCE THEY DON'T EVEN TELL YOU ABOUT THIS NEW OPT IN/OUT SERVICE UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE.

NO MORE BANKING FOR ME. I KNOW THERE ARE MANY MORE UNHAPPY TD BANK CUSTOMER.

I HOPE THIS BANK FOLDS, FOR WHAT THEY DONE TO ME.

THANKS TO THEM, MY FAMILY WON'T HAVE MUCH OF A CHRISTMAS.

Awful Customer Service
I went into your Deerfield Beach branch today (Hillsboro Blvd), to open an account and I must say I was surprised at what was happening in your branch.

You had a customer who came in to close an account and recoup fees charged on same account. And this is the series of events that can accurately describe what happened:

Customers approached the counter to close account and get their $15.00 fees back. Counter clerk sent them to customer service.

They waited, sat, then finally got a customer service rep. The female customer told the rep, I would like to close this account and I want my fees back. The rep took the paperwork and ID looked up some information then left. The female customer was then joined by the male customer and she made the comment, this was free account when we signed up.

Your rep spoke to the manager in the store. I do not know what was said, I was on the other side, but she came back and told the customers (who, might I add saw where she went) and said, ’There is no manager here today, I cannot reverse this fee’. A blatant lie and I think this is where things got escalate because they knew, I knew, the rep Kahn knew this was a lie. I was appalled that anyone in your establishment would treat a customer this way. A bare face lie.

The female customer said. I am not leaving, I need my fees and I need to close the account so you need to get the fees reversed. She added that it was ‘STUPID to pay the bank to use my money’. (You have to admit she does have a point).

At that point, the manager came over and said letters were sent out, we reversed plenty of fees in the last two months we are not reversing any more. AGAIN another lie as fees were not activated until November of 2009. And this INSULT further aggravated the customer who then said I did not get any notice of fees or I would have closed my account. I signed up for this specific account because it had no fees.

By this, everyone is aggravated because of the lies and the customers felt they were being taken and lied to. Another customer got involved. What the manager should have done is told the other customer to cool it. Instead, it became a shouting match between two different sets of customer and the manager. The manager realizing that the situation was getting out of control over $15.00 said ‘Give then the fees back and close the account get them out of here’.

That was teh wrong way to phrase it and he was responsible for the escalation by lying to the customers. At this point they are okay and starting to calm. However, Jason, one of your customer service rep came over and added ‘So every customer that comes in here and make some noise we are just going to give them their fees back. They shouldn’t get anything.’ This is in front of the already irate customers. Jose, the manager said (much to my SHOCK), ‘I agree, do not give their fees back, just close the account and give them what is there.’ Now you have problems and the customers demanded their money or a different manager both Jose and Jason decline to help. Jason’s solution was to call the police. To which the customer rightfully respond, ‘This is not a corporate police state, I have rights and I am not leaving without my money.’

So while Jason called the police, the female customer called your corporate office to get ‘justice’. The cops showed and Jason said, ‘Okay you guys need to leave we will mail you your money’.

The customer said, ’I am not leaving without my money, I didn’t mail it in I am walking out with it.’

In the end, here is the kicker, the customer address on file was incorrect by 1 digit. In other words, there was a VERY STRONG possibility they did not get a notice of fees, something that could have been established and resolved in 5 seconds, but TD Bank took the approach that they were not giving fees back. What does it profit you to take $15.00 for customers who have monthly balances under $100.00. Obviously in this economy you can’t just dupe people out of their hard earned money. The police rightfully did nothing. They wanted their account closed and their money.

Perhaps if TD Bank had not started with a lie this whole thing would not have happened. Perhaps I would be a customer there today, BUT NOT after that treatment.

Fees
First I made a deposit on Sat. suppose to go through on Monday the deposit actually went through Tuesday but showed that it was available Monday. Yet on Sat. and Sun. the Available and the “balance” were different. Yet on Monday I went to an ATM, and did some shopping looked at my balance Tuesday and it was fine, Wednesday there was a $210.00 fee on my account, an overdraft fee which my account statement NEVER showed negative. Without getting into all of the boring details of the back and forth conversation I am very disappointed after 10 YEARS of business they pretty much said too bad we don’t care. The withdrawals were made on Monday the deposit was made on Monday why the fees. This has changed as I have been with them 10years plus and never had the issues I have had in the past few months. To top it all off last month I emailed them about OD fees when my account was not negative and they just emailed me back saying we have reversed the charges, I was assuming they made a mistake and never thought twice about it….So the $210.00 fee they said they would not reverse cause I had the other two reversed. I proceeded to tell her that I thought the fees were a mistake they made that no one explained anything and I have the emails, they didn’t care at all. I continued to tell her that there are numerous times I have had an available balance different form my total balance and that there are times that I hit an ATM and try to grab $200.00 only to realize I only have $180.00 and it denies me but now all of the sudden you are telling me that I can overdraw from an ATM???? Horrible to a long time customer like myself. After $210.00 four weeks before Christmas Three kids living check to check, they now say that I can cancel out of this program? Thanks a little late for that!!!
