TD Bank Reviews

Service
They have charged me overdraft fees when the money was in the account. They failed to post deposits and intially showed them as available funds; and subsequently showed them as not being available. The wait time to speak with a representative is always at least ten minutes when I have called, and they have made several balance errors in the past two months. I had excellent service when it was Commerce; this is a stark contrast and I am changing banks immediately. I did some internet research and I feel good knowing I am not the only one and changing financial institutions is the right move.

TD Bank
TD BANK is honestly the worst bank I have ever dealt with, and I am with Wachovia right now so that's a hard task to beat. Wachovia bank has terrible hours but there customer satisfaction is amazing. TD BANK doesn't care about there customers at all. I have money in my TD BANK account bank home, and I can't make it there, and the only way I can get my money out is to be in person at this bank, and the closest one is 3 hours away from me. I have called customer serivce line several times to find away out of this problem, and after every phone call that was made they all said right before I hung up with them "Sorry there is nothing else I can do." So than I called up Wachovia, and they said if the money was in the account with them, and I need it in TD BANK they would do a quick balance transfer, 2 sec. of talking with a Wachovia Rep, and they tell me what I want to do; but a week worth of time, and effort with TD BANK, and I got NOTHING. Thanks TD BANK you Suck the Big one...

Account closing
I have a checking, saving and business checking with Commerce then and now TD bank. I have life insurance premium that auto withdraw on the 15th every month. I came in 9/16/09 to close all 3 accounts. On 11/2/09 I receive a call from TD bank rep saying that I owe TD bank $456.09 and $35 over draft fee for the auto withdraw made on 10/15/09. I was outrage, how can that be, the account has been closed for months.

I came in to the local branch with my withdrawing receipt and prove to them that the account has been closed 1 month prior. They are removing the $35 overdraft fee but want their $456.09 back.

My question to TD bank manager is this:
1."I closed 3 accounts on the same day, why 2 accounts is closed and 1 left open?"
2. "Since closed account is still open, I could come up to the counter and withdraw $500 and your teller will give it to me?"

Both the Manager and assistance manager could not answer.

The manager then threating to put it thru collection. I told them to talk to my attorney.

Online Bill Pay
The same day that the computers went down, three of my automatic recurring online bill pays were cancelled. TD bank says that I went in and cancelled the payments. Our 2 car payments and student loans were never paid. I didn't catch it for about 3 weeks when I realized that the money never came out. Luckily, I caught them all before they were truly considered deliquent. However, we did have to pay fees to pay the bills over the phone. I'm just amazed that I would actually go in and CANCEL bills that I've paid online for years, even though I had the money to pay them!! I must be such a fool. The TD rep assured me that this had NOTHING to do with their huge computer issues. Yeah, right. Did anyone else have online bills cancelled that were set to occur every month?

Rude Customers
Well lets start off by saying if you dont work for Td Bank you will not know the stress we undergo from rude customers.

First off Td Bank sent all there customers their policies of the new systems. If you got screwed with your accounts after the integration like around now its your fault. We understand our computers were messed up for about two weeks and if you got fees we certainly gave most of them back. If your still getting fees its cause your not consistent at watching your account. If you don't want fees well stop spending money you don't have. REMEMBER that your card does not decline when you don't have money. In order to get that removed you should go to your local Td Bank and get an opt out program.

Second, STOP YELLING AT YOUR TELLERS UNLESS YOU FEEL THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING SO RETARDED THAT THEY DESERVE IT. Most tellers do not deserve the grief you customers bring. If something was done incorrectly on your account don't yell at the teller go to a Customer Service Rep or the manager.

Third, If you see that the drive thru is busy don't sit there and waste your time. GO INSIDE! Their should be at least 3 tellers inside while the drive thru has only two and sometimes one. Stop being lazy and take a walk inside. It helps your cardio.

Last but not least Td Bank is still more convenient then most banks out there. We open sooner and close later. We make most of your deposits avalible next business day. If its 5:55 and you think it might get put into the next business day ask what day they are on. Does it really hurt you to ask?

This should help you to help us to be Courteous to you. Follow this and nothing should happen to you and you wont be yelling anytime soon.

Direct Deposit & Fluctuating Bal. Problems
I've had an account with TD Bank, originally TD Banknorth (Toronto-Dominion Back/ headquarters Canada) since June 2009. Till a few months ago, I was having no problems. Then the bank did some kind of overhaul, including the online banking website. Since then I've noticed a subtle--and not so subtle--change in operating procedures, e.g., ripping off customers via direct deposit accounts, "pending" transactions, resulting in double withdrawals, to name a few scamming techniques.

A disabled, Vietnam veteran, I noticed, today (10-30-09), for the first time, that my disability check had been placed in the "pending transactions" category, and that, this time, not only had the full amount of the disability check been unrecorded, but a pending debit card transaction that should have already been withdrawn, leaving the actual & current available balance, had been deducted from the unrecorded disability check. I called the bank for an explanation and basically got double-talk & the run-around. I informed them that the matter was far from being settle to my satisfaction.

Round two of reordered transactions leading to overdraft charges
After a round of reordered transactions in the range of $3.50 and $5.00 led to hundreds of dollars in fees and surcharges due to an overdraft that would not have occurred if they had processed a deposit, TD Bank rightly reversed all the charges and things were proceeding smoothly.

UNTIL, this past weekend, they did the same thing. A number of transactions have been reordered, resulting in an overdraft. My favorite? They took me into overdraft by charging me $35 for an overdraft that hadn't happened yet. THEN they charged me another $35 for the overdraft that ensued.

I'm taking my money to a credit union. Bank of America, Chase, Citibank - at least they're blatant about the fact that they will rob you blind. Commerce/TD Bank was different... but now the only difference is, they have the audacity to pretend they WON'T rob you.

Customer Service
Went in to cash a check. One teller was working, the other was sitting there. He finally called the man in front of me and took care of his transaction. The man left and the teller was writing something. Finally calls me to the desk, and I told him I wanted to cash a check. He looked at the check and said he could not cash it because he did not have enough money. The check was for $200. I had to wait for the other teller (who is ridiculously slow, no matter what she does) to finish with a customer. The teller was waiting for something to print. After repeatedly trying to print, she realized there was no paper in the printer and had to go to customer service. Evidently this was hysterically funny. Talking to the manager with the assistant in ear shot, was useless. They did not get another teller, or explain why the teller could not help.
Just because they are open on Sunday does not make them the most convenient bank in America.
