Mortgage Re-financing scam
I went to a TD Bank in Queens on 9/7/10 to apply for a re-financing of my mortgage. As I have a well-paying job, some monies in the bank, and credit scores in the high 700s and low 800s, I was conditionally approved for a 3.75% 15-year rate right away. After that, the nightmare began. Although I asked and asked (via email and telephone) to find out exactly what documents were needed, I did not receive the list for almost a month. That left me with a month to scramble to get info together from my co-op and my own records. I diligently worked at faxing info to the representative, but would usually not hear from her for a week at a time. Meanwhile, I was left wondering if she had received my faxes. By the way, I would send an email to her each time I sent documents. In other words, I did everything right. Well, after 60 days, a rate-lock expires. So, on the 59th day, she calls me (after not hearing from her for over a week) and she tells me that the loan has been turned down due to the co-op having outstanding liens. I am sure they knew about these before, and the co-op even wrote a letter of indemnity (which waives TD from any responsibility for the debt.) Not only did I not get to re-finance, but TD charged me $600 for "cancelling" the rate lock and nearly $600 in other fees. I have been scammed.

fraudulant late fee charges
Bought a water filtration system thru Puronics in June 2010. Their financing is thru TD Bank. I pay my bill on time, usually 10 to 14 days before the due date. I use electronic bill pay thru Bank of America. The funds leave my account way before the due date, yet TD bank for some reason does not post them to my account until several days after the due date, thus generating a "late charge" fee and screwing with my credit. I have never had this issue with any other company. I'm just dying to know where my money is before it gets posted...floating around cyber-space for 10 days???

Check clearing
I have a savings account at TD Bank. I received a check that had my name on it as well as my father's name on it. Because his name was on the check, he came with me to deposit into my account. The only available teller open was the store manager, who was a squirrely man with a temper. He told me that the check would be clear within 24 hours, which I thought was fine. I came back later that week to withdraw some money for my brother's birthday present. But because my father's name was on the check, that he had also endorsed, the money wasn't available. The store manager said that the only way to withdraw any of that money was if my father drove down to that specific TD bank and sign a clearance form, a paper that wasn't ever mentioned to myself or my father.

This bank is also very, very unprofessional. I asked the teller, who was the assistant store manager, why the funds were not available. She responded with "I don't know, cause there isn't any money." I have an account with a passbook, and when any amount is deposited or withdrawn it marks the current balance. She checked the passbook and then said "there isn't any money." She then wouldn't help me and just stared at the computer, until I flagged down the manager and asked him to help.

This bank is terrible! I have recently switched over to Laconia Savings Bank and everything has been great!

Completely irresponsible
To make a long story short: Applied online and completed in person at a store. They lost my signature card (but of course not my deposit) and had to go back in to fill out another. Two weeks later, tried to use store-issued debit card for $50 purchase...declined. Tried to swipe again, cleared, but for only $48 dollars, had to fork over $2 in cash to vendor. Tried to use debit card again for second time this morning for $35 purchase...declined. Fuming, I return home to call them and they tell me there is a hold on my account from the authorization not having been put through from the SECOND signature card I had to fill out. This is three interactions and three issues with a completely new customer. I am cancelling my account here.

Overdraft fees
I have had a TD Bank account in Massachusetts for 15+ years back when it was Salem Five Cents Savings Bank (at least two mergers ago) and never had a problem with overdraft fees. I had written a $250 check to an heating oil company on monday and had made a deposit of $385 on that same day and the account had $78 in it at that time. I did expect that the deposit would beat the check debit to the bank but as it turns out it tied. I'll elaborate. Over the course of that day and the next several small dollar amount debit card transactions occurred (each less the $10). I checked over the course of those two days and the debits from the second day (first day's debits hit on second day), check, and deposit had not hit the bank. Third day comes along and TD Bank decides they are not going to process the transactions in the order they occurred but rather in this order: check to oil company for $250, each of the debit transactions from the second day (one for $5.09 and the other for $5.83 and an authorization for gas for a $1), and THEN the deposit of $385. Now they didn't deposit the entire check, they put a hold on $285.00 and deposited $100 (with the teller saying to me after the fact that they additional $285.00 would have gone through on the 4th day) so doing some math they started at $78 and subtracted $250 to give me an overdrafted account of $172.00. They charged a $35.00 overdraft fee immediately at this point. Next they then hit the account for the 3 debit transactions of $11.92 total and charged an overdraft fee of $35 EACH equals an overdrafted account of $288.92. So finally now they go to process the deposit (partial of only $100 because they put a one day hold on any amount over $100) and I end up with a negative balance of $188.92 as of today. The real killer is that their own online banking service (i.e. where I check my statement online) showed me today that I had a POSITIVE balance of $57.00 so I went ahead and used my debit card again today for 3 more transactions (I hadn't checked my statement at that time) so now the bank is telling me I'm going to get WHACKED with 3 more $35.00 overdraft fees! I called to discuss this and was told it was my fault (somehow - they didn't give me a good reason why) and that they always process debit transactions the next day (later changed to over the next two plus days) even though the debit transactions I was talking about with her and that I mention above have always gone through on the SAME day since they were point of sale transactions. No explanation of why the check processed first and not the deposit. I was told they would not refund the fees. Now I am forced to have to stop direct deposit of my paycheck so I can make sure I can pay the rent to house me, my wife, and our four kids another month and bring this account positive JUST so I can close it and tell TD Bank to go stick it in their hats. How is this legal? WHY is this legal? Is there a class action lawsuit I can join or is there a lawyer out there interested in starting one?

overdraft fees
As with some of the other people on this website, I do have experienced overdraft fees. Apparantly there was something sent out somewhere around March or April regarding that they would cover this, if anyone is familiar with what happened in alot of the counties in New Jersey with massive flooding and state of emergency, well we were one of those families who were out of their home for 2 monhts and lost everything on the first level of home. So our biggest concern was getting our house back together and unless there was a bill our mail got backed up and we knew our account was fine. Needless to say in less than 2 weeks, this bank has charged us $735.00 in overdraft fees. We had no idea that the bank would continue to pay stuff. On top of this in the last 24 hours, someone got a hold of my debit card number and charged 153.26 to my account which were not our charges and yet we are going to get charged bank fees. I have begged and pleaded with this bank to work with us on these charges because when people are fighting every day to keep their jobs and surviving in an economy that is horrible, banks shouldn of all of a sudden decided we are going to pay everything no matter what...and charge people a ridiculous amount of money. Because of the charges and the fraud that went through, I don't have enough money to cover this since that is one of our paychecks for 2 weeks. They are inconsiderate and as far as their customer service commercial on tv it is bull they don't care and don't work with you at all and aren't human in anyway!!! And now it is going to take almost 7 days for anything to be done with the fraud charges and maybe we will get 70.00 back for those two transactions but it doesn't help any when there is still another 700.00 that they have of ours and my account is severly overdrawn because of these charges and when the debit transactions that they paid came in, the acct was a negative because of their fees, when the charges were done days prior when money was in the account. I am very disappointed in this bank and I hope that some that these people are in a situation where no one will work with them or understand and don't do anything about it and than maybe say hey maybe i should of been more christian like and helped people in a time of need.

Overdraft
This bank is killing me with fees. I'm not sure how they calculate these fees. I called them trying to make sense of these fees that i'm being charged. They keep telling that they are looking at a different system than I am. That is bogus I think we all need to be looking @ the same system to make sense. I'm so frustrated

8887519000 customers service
customers service of td bank 18887519000 all the people who works there, they are all sucks. they do not really helping customers. before i, explain the situation that made me called them until finish, they cut me off!!! and then they yelling at me back!!! all of them!!! it happens so many times, even i talked to the one in charge, she yelling at me back and rudely saying that she can easily erased their mistake on overdraft fee but she won't do it and specifically saying she doesn't care about our situation even though we have newborn baby!!! HOW RUDE IS THAT???? as customers service they should understand about dissatisfy customers that furious on the phone and not yelling back at customers!!! they should still can talk calm and try to make customers calming down and solve the problems that is good for both sides!!! not yelling at customers back!!! that is customers service job is!!! if every time we(customers) have problems they should solve it in good ways not just saying that we(customers) have to go to one of the branches to totally fix it. if that the case, why bother td bank having customers service by the phone if they all really not helping at all and so rude on the phone plus really sarcastic, even the manager or the one in charge itself is very super duper sarcastic to customers?????

UNfair fees
TD Bank is the biggest rip off ever. They steal your money right out of your account. They have online banking and the numbers from online banking dont match what "they" see on their screen. This is a bunch of bullshit!!! They claim their system updates in real time, but then they hold tranactions for days even though you see it removed from your balance. Its like magic that things appear later in time with a "fee" and no explanition. You have to call coustomer service and they have to search and prod then tell you such and such check/item was off. It dosent even show in the online banking. I know for sure they have a class action lawsuit in the future and I will be right on board. This last week they stole over $500.00 from me bouncing shit because of their fees, so I got fees caused by fees. Td bank your future in stealing is gonna be limited. Bastards!!!

Still Not Doing Their Job!!
Not only did they not protect us from someone going ahead and drawing money from our account without authorization, but they also forgot to complete a deposit of over a Thousadn Dollars just the other day.

We went into the branch to fill out paperwork for the issue with the money drawing and it was two weeks before we heard any response about the ordeal. The great people at TD Bank forgot to completely submit the paperwork!! Go TD!!! We went in to the branch again (Kings Highway) and submitted the paperwork again to wait and find out that they couldn't help us. Yeah i feel comfortable having my money being taken care of by these geinusses. I had to call the l0cal news station in order to get the results i needed.

Everything was great at Commerce Bank, but once TD took over the whole thing went down the drain!!! I will be looking into the surrounding banks this weekend to pick a new, safe, trust worthy home for my hard earned money!!! You should do the same!!!
