I've been a long time customer of TD Bank, both personally and for my business, and have been very satisfied with their excellent service. Because of my current relationships with them, I thought it would make sense to use them to refinance my mortgage. I was refinancing only 40% of the value of the house, my credit is excellent, and my income is plenty to cover the mortgage.
The experience of working with TD Mortgage was one of the worst in my 25 years in business. For starters, it took them 3 months to consummate the loan...ridiculous given how easy a refinancing this should have been. The lock of my rate was only two months, so it was very stressful as we got close to and passed the expiration date. But that's not the biggest issue. What infuriated me over the past 3 months is the horrendous communication from TD Bank, requiring me to touch base with them every few days to see where things stand, having to resend documents multiple times. Only after I pulled some strings and got my local branch manager involved did we get this closed. Don't do business with TD Mortgage...for your own sake. I certainly never will again.
