Predatory Business Practices
TDBanknorth is employing predatory fee programs now during the downturn in the economy. I noticed that TDBanknorth had withdrawn $15 from my account and called it a "Service Charge." I hadn't had any service charges in years because it wasn't a feature of my account. I called customer service. They told me that they had assessed the fee because my checking account balance dipped below $100 that month. Customer service told me that they'd sent something to my house in April warning of the changes and that I'd have to change the type of account I'd had in order to avoid the new $15 fee. The only thing is, they were no longer offering free checking unless the account holder maintained at least $100 in the account.

Now, I normally have more than $100 in my account at all times, but the downturn in the economy had made that a little more difficult to guaranteed lately. But I don't go under by much. I find it suspicious that the maintenance fee would be so high and the reserve amount so low.

To me, it seems that this was a way for TDBanknorth to take advantage of their customers, many of whom, like me, have seen reductions in their amount of take home pay as we have been asked to "help out" and make sacrifices in order to help our companies along. So, why can't TDBanknorth do the same thing?

Even more irritating, I was told that the fee could not be waived even once. More irritating than that, the customer service person told me that he increase was not due to the economy but due to the merger between BankNorth and TD. Now, this merger happened almost seven years ago by my count. In fact, I worked for Banknorth when the merger was finalizing. I know how long ago it was.

You mean to tell me that seven years later, just when an unprecedented amount of customers are carrying lower balances than normal in their accounts, is when the new fee program goes through?

That's a load.

I'm closing the ten-year account I had with Banknorth as of today and opening a checking account with my Credit Union, which is something I should have done long ago.

FEES and other sneaky things
I am writing this on behalf of my boyfriend. He has had so many troubles with TDBanknorth, and it is only getting worse. I have advised him, this time, to ask an attorney to sue them. He has agreed.
We had some outstanding things and were going to go to the bank and pay for those, and I checked his online account before we headed to the bank to make a deposit, and lo and behold, there is a $175 fee assessed. Okay, fine, we were going to wait till the first of the month and take care of that, and decided to wait and call them. I looked at the account again tonight, and they have charged another $210.00 to the account, for fees. What the...blank. Now, our account is over $500 in the negative. We have both had enough. We do not even think we should call them now. We are too angry and might say a lot of really bad things, so I am calling an attorney tomorrow and he is going to start a lawsuit against them. The $210 seems funny, as the lady over there just gave us that for credit, only thing is she put it in as a deposit. And now they are taking it back? Ha! Kind of fishy, huh? It is quite obvious that she was not suppose to do it and she was being nice, but put it in as a deposit, so she may get into trouble, too, and I feel bad about that. We know that the fees now are bogus fees and someone is playing games here. Whoever it is, they are in deep trouble, because they will be sued this time, unless they wish to settle out of court. I take care of all of this for my boyfriend and it stresses me out, so can you imagine how he feels. He only gets so much money per month. I will write a letter to the corporate office, too, but I doubt it will do any good.
We are fed up.
I wrote to the Federal Trade Commission on TDBanknorth a little while ago, and it is obvious that TD does not care. They only care about their wallet, not ours, and their fees are ridiculous anyhow, but they are always making mistakes on this account, and I have been copying the pages every day, for a little while now. One day, it is in this order, and not as we did our transactions either, and then the next day, they have reordered everything to satisfy themselves, their greed, make it look like they are legit in their actions.?
Well, I have copies of every page and they all go in different orders, and we had a positive balance, and thanks to this site and the TD employees writing and confirming that they have already deducted from the available balance the pending transactions (THANK YOU!), I have copied this whole web page, too, and will print everything out tomorrow to take to the attorney. Maybe we will get lots more money from this suit than the amounts they have done in errors. Maybe we can go back over the past year and all of their mess ups and wrongs they have done to this account and to us. I look forward to this. Or they can make a deal with us, but we will let the attorney have this one. We are not letting them do this to us anymore and no one else should.
There is so much more I could write. They have made so many errors. Let's see. One time, I wrote and asked about what a certain fee was for and they wrote back and said that it was for a check for a certain company that did not have sufficient funds for and this was months later from the date that they said it was for, and it wasn't even for that transaction at all. They are so messed up, and most of the ones that answer us online are so rude and ignorant, we should have left them a long time ago. We are definitely disputing this with the bank, and not letting them make the dispute decision, because we all know that they do not make any decision in our favor ever! We will let the courts take care of them this time! Oh my God, I am so angry, it is not even funny. They are just so messed up!

Bad Service
I had a loan for about three years. I pay it off early, 5 month ago and I still haven't receive my car tittle. 5 freaking months!!!
They wanted to send me some papers so I could go to motor vehicle but I told them that I wasn't willing to do that. If I was never late on my payment and I payed every single penny, why do I have to do their job?
