I went to Tech Masters for an oil change that was to be $8.88. It ended up being 38.00. The real problem came when the mechanic came to tell me that I needed wheel barrings, a master cylinder, and that I had severe oil leaks. The master cylinder and barrings alone would be nearly $1000.00. I was told that because I needed these things immediately, I would be in danger to myself as well as others if I did not get this done right away. I had just bought the car less than two months prior and it is an 04, with 50, 000 miles on it. A mechanic went through it before I made my purchase. I decided to get another opinion. As it turns out, I had one small oil leak and 'nothing' else.
The mechanic that I went to for the second opinion informed me that there was not even enough miles on the car that would cause the barrings to go bad. After he put my car on the hoist, he showed me exactly why I did not need any of the things that Tech Masters said I needed. I don't know how companies can get away with doing this to consumers! It really upsets me that they tried rushing me in their quest to completely rip me off, before I could find out the truth.
