Scammed
I got scammed and I want to warn others. ordered a cannon sd880 camera on line. I was called back and told the battery wouldn't hold power and I should get an extended life battery (at a cost of $79. I said no thanks, so they offered it at a lower price and would throw in an extended warantee if I also would buy an ultra high speed memory card. I talked the price down from $200 to $59. When it was all done, the deal went from $179 to $279 but when the camera came the had charged my card &369. No response from complaints. the add ons are questionable quality. STAY AWAY. THEY ALSO OPPERATE UNDER MANY DIFFERENT NAMES tECHONDIGITAL . FOTOCONNECTION AND ABOUT 5 OTHERS.

Scam
After doing an internet search, I placed an order for 2 Garmin Nuvi 255 GPS units with Techondigital. Instead of the usual confirmation response, I received this email: Please call william from our order confirmation department at ext: 205 to confirm your order at 800-958-0054. When I called, "William" tried to scam me into buying hundreds of dollars for unnecessary upgrades. Then tried to sweeten the deal by cutting prices and throwing in some useless freebies. I told him all I wanted was the two GPS units I ordered. A few days later, I received an email saying my order was canceled because the product was on back order. But is it still offered on their website? You betcha. Stay away from these lowlifes!

A Google search will find hundreds of complaints about these guys!

bait and switch
I ordered a digital camera online, and purchased through this company because they offered the lowest price (Order placed on evening of Tues. 11/27/07). They offered a secure site through which I used my credit card to buy the camera. I thought everything was safe. After placing my order, the company sent a confirmation of my order to the email address I provided. They then sent another email saying that I had to call the following day to confirm my order to a guy named James.

Here is an exact copy of the message:

please call james from our order confirmation department at ext: 201 to confirm your order at 800-958-0054 (*Note the lack of punctuation & lack of a signature, esp. from a business email account
-- a red flag this isn't a legit business.)

Approximately 15 minutes or so after placing my online order, a man from techondigital.com called my home to confirm my order (specifically, he mentioned something about having a problem using stolen credit card numbers-- no kidding -- and then proceeded to push me to purchase an additional memory card & battery pack for the camera. He was trying to sell me a 1 GB card & generic batteries for only $89.99. He also told me numerous times that everyone who orders a camera also orders the extra memory and batteries. Everyone, apparently, except for me. After nearly 10 minutes of continuously telling him no, that I was not interested in any accessories for the camera, he hung up. I got the feeling he was more than a little frustrated.

When I called techondigital.com's toll-free number to check on the status of my order, I was notified that the camera I had supposedly ordered had been backordered for approximately 7 weeks, and that my order had been subsequently canceled. The company did this without even notifying me first. I told the customer service rep that this was the first time I was hearing about my order being backordered, and then being canceled, he said, 'Oh...well, you'll get your email, or something like that.' I emailed the company requesting something in writing confirming that my order had, in fact, been cancelled, which I have yet to receive. I guess customer service isn't one of their strong suits. I think this is very deceptive, dishonest, and fraudulent way to conduct business.

Moral of the story: If something sounds too good to be true, like buying a Canon PowerShot SD870 IS for $269 to your door, then it probably is. Don't do business with these folks -- you'll regret it.

They also go by a lot of other different business names. If you g00gle it, you'll see.

scam bait and switch
On 12/10/08 I ordered a Garmin 255W via the web. They e-mailed me right back and asked me to call them for confirmation. I did so only to have a high pressure salesman tell me that I needed to purchase additional equipment to make the unit work. I inturn called Garmin to verify. Garmin indicated that I needed only the unit and tol me the company was lying. I called bacl and asked another gentleman to just ship the unit. He said that they were in stock and would ship. Today I received an e-mail an was told that the order was cancelled because it was on backorder. Funny, because it is still listed as in stock on heir web site. I also called today and was told it was in stock "we have plenty". If you don't buy the SD card for an additional $189 they won't ship the unit.. Bait and switch company. What a crappy company.

Non performance
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THESE SCAMMERS. They are running a scam with no product available if they are not able to "upgrade" you to overpriced accessories. They are extremely rude, attempt to be intimidating which is laughable, and act like gangster thugs. Professionalism is not in their vocabulary (if they had one). I would not purchase anything from an online company in Brooklyn. Had a similar experience with 86th Street Photo & Video. They are probably the same entity. Already put a fraud alert on my credit card. These people shouldn't be allowed to advertise on the web. How can we get them off.

Online Sales Scam
Ordered a new Panasonic camera from this "firm" and received a call 15 minutes later telling me I needed to also order a memory card. Said no and they then said this was not a U.S. model so there was no warranty and said I needed to buy a warranty. At that point I told them to cancel my order. Received an email with cancellation code and also plan to contact CC company to make sure no payment is made.

This is not a legitimate business operation - offer lower prices, but much higher shipping charges and then surprise you with the call.

The ratings for TECHON were glowing - a mystery to me.

False representation
This site advertises the Garmin nuvi 250 GPS for $135.00 . They then call to "confirm" the order, at which time they tell you that if you want the latest maps it will cost more. (I have since discovered that garmin will upgrade all new products to the latest map version for free upon registration.) They also tried to charge an extra $10.00 for insurance in spite of their claim that "All packages are insured.. You are not responsible for any lost/damaged packages" I have since talked to UPS and discovered that packages are insured up to $100.00 for no extra, and at an incremental rate of 90 cents per $100.00 of declared value over that. Not close to the extra they tried to charge me.

Terrible experience
On Friday 8/1/2008, I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 660. The web page said the item was in stock, I ordered it expedited delivery (3 bus. days) and received an email confirmation.

On Sunday 8/3/2008, at approx. 12 noon CST, I received a call from TechonDigital. The man, with a VERY heavy accent (barely understandable) acknowledged my order and kept pushing for me to buy accessories and additional services. I politely declined. He said, 'OK, thank you, your order will be shipped tomorrow.'

On Monday 8/4/2008, I received an email saying my item was backordered 6-8 weeks and therefore my order was being canceled. I called the (877) 425-9933 number and after going through the menus, I reached someone who told me he wasn't in sales, but that he was a 'specialist' and could help me.

He told me that the item I ordered was a 'gray market' GPS, an older model (2005) sold in Europe and other countries, and that it wasn't usable in the US. Then he offered another GPS system, for an additional $45 but I would not be able to use it unless I activated it at additional charge.

When I complained, and said that the online description gives no indication that the item is not usable in the US. The web page says this item is in stock, and I had received a call the day before that my order was being shipped. I also told him what they were doing is a bait and switch, a very unethical business practice.

I also said I was going to post this experience on the web and he got very nervous and told me my order and login would all be canceled. Do NOT order from these people. THEY ARE SCAMMERS!
