On July 2nd, 2008 a extremely talented teen was denied the privilege to be a competitor in the annual Teen Idol competition on the 4th of July. The head person of the Teen Idol competition told him he could not participate because of his past issues that he encountered several years ago. He has performed at other community events in Pottstown in the past and nothing was said to him about this before. This is a classic case of discrimination put upon a person who has gotten himself together. This teen is a straight A student, 22nd in the class and is involved in over 10 after school events. 4 of the clubs are clubs that actually help out the community. This is very hurtful to the teen. He has come to this town to turn his life around in the positive direction and he just gets slapped in the face. What is next? They won't allow homosexuals compete because some people don't approve? Things need to change and they need to change quickly!
