After nine years of employment with Telemundo, I was given a choice to either get terminated or resign.
The reason for this because when I filled out my electronic employment application I made a mistake and put NO to the question if I was ever convicted of a felony.
I even advised my HR person back then, Grace Orejas, of my "mistake" and that I paid for this mistake AND the question below it asked in the past seven years and it got me confused.This shows that at no time did I try and cheat or hide my past. Why would I if I knew that the company would do a background check ? This I can prove 100%.;
This was not investigated by chance, but after numerous events and false accusations that I had stolen equipment from the company.
In every occasion I proved to the company that I was innocent, even after clear implications that I was involved in illegal activities
Its hard to believe that after all my years of service, dozens of ovations, employee of the month several times, employee of the quarter while at wtvj, the company does NOT respect my years of service and/or my dedication.
The words and images selected, they all intended towards co-workers and co-workers did in fact believe I was a thief. The clear implication that I was involved in stealing or in illegal activity of any sort, was completely false. HR knew that I was NOT involved in or even suspected of being involved in illegal activity. On the sun glass theft issue, it was security implicated me falsely. I proved my innocence and was exonerated.. I tried to get our ombudsman, Lisa Hughes, aware but after conversations with her and emails, she NEVER contacted me back to let me know the outcome of her investigation. NOW the latest on the Kravitz misinterpretation, a disgruntled person from the street full of anger, hate and with personal problems between us for years and that I have a defamation and slander lawsuit against called, and turned in equipment that was supposedly stolen by me. After getting accused of stealing AGAIN, I showed prove in the way of an October 2008 email that was clearly stated that the equipment in question was disposed with management approval. Let me add that the email included model #'s, serial numbers and asset codes. Along with accusing me of stealing, the disgruntled person Cesar Figueroa made false and defamatory statements in a negligent manner without reasonable care as to whether the defamatory statements were true or false. The Company I guess needed to find something to redeem themselves AGAIN started plucking into my past, until they found what they thought was sufficient to terminate me.
By reason of this false statements and HR misinterpretation towards me, I have been injured in my life, my family's well being and reputation with the public for integrity and moral conduct and continue to suffer extreme humiliation and emotional distress.
As in the sunglass theft case, I asked to speak to Don Browne and my wish was not granted. I know Don would NOT allow this injustice and he makes it his point to treat all employees with respect and consideration.What happened to the open door policy ? How in the world is it possible to terminate a top performer for making a mistake in his application, AND that it was clearly explained to Grace Orejas. When asked if I could contact Grace and clarify the problem, I was instructed not to. Why ? Dont they want to clear my name ? The Telemundo mentality BEHIND Don Browne's back is " employee is guilty until proven innocent"...Don & Derek are men of integrity and he should know what goes on behind his back.
An employees performance and dedication should be valued and considered when an employees job is on the line. Remember it was ME who went into Mexico and drove the equipment under threat of car jackings, risking my life. Remember it was ME who worked through Christmas to make sure the numbers at the end of the year matched. It was ME who traveled with the Client Development team to make sure all went smooth. Remember it was ME who toured from city to city sleepless nights to make sure Al Rojo Vivo was flawless. Remember it was ME who did Upfront presentations also with sleepless nights to assure all went well. Remember it was ME who made sure that all Novela press junkets went smooth. Remember it was ME who tore down Ajusco to save the company million of dollars while everyone was home during December with their families. Now I look back and wonder why did I go above and beyond, risked my life, risked my family, and most of all risked memorable time for a company that does not value this ?
