Teletech @ Home Reviews

Actual management is never around and has dumped all "their" responsibilties on us.
I have been with this company for a few years now. It was definitely a bumpy start because management does not know anything more about the actual project you'll be on, than you do, so all they would do is tell you to use your resources. Using those resources was like randomly reading through a Webster's dictionary. Keep in mind, that these managers at all the @home companies are all the same. The grass is NOT greener anywhere else you go. When I started, I worked my first 2 years telling customers no supervisors were available to talk to because our supervisors flat out refused to take ANY type of call, so whatever! I can definitely say it made me smarter and forced me on how to dig for answers on my own and resolve tech issues and de-escalate calls. In fact, I became so good that I became one of their coaches within the first yr. Do you know what the reward for being a coach is? None. We are nothing more than punching bags who make the same wage (Used to be paid more) as everyone else and we have to do quadruple the work including taking all the agents supervisor calls and being forced to say we are "supervisors". We do this while answering up to 75 people in chat at the same time and having their apps reset, posting their breaks and lunches and having their late breaks and lunches coded accordingly, and watching/monitoring calls they are on. The coaches now do ALL the work that the Sups used to do while they stay in meetings all day trying to figure out how to squeeze more work out of us for less pay. In response to the guy above who said you have to pay for your electricity and phone and blah blah blah. Every single thing is tax deductible, including any computers you buy, phones or any work related item and utilizes, you can even get a tax deduction for using your home as an office. It is a pretty damn big refund if you ask me, 2000-5000 in deductions each year is nothing to sneeze at. You do save money buy not driving anywhere, has anyone seen gas prices lately? No wardrobe to buy, no daycare expenses and you are at home. Free to fart in your chair while talking to a customer, free get up and go smoke a cig, whatever you want. They DO allow you to get up and step away for 5 min or so, some agents are just really freaking stupid and think they need to ask someone permission to go potty. Seriously, as long as you do not abuse the lil breaks you take here and there, it's really not too bad. Just don't take a 5 min break after every call and it's all gravy. We have fun in our chat rooms and we do not bitch and whine about how long your calls are taking. We used to because of pressure from upper management, but that is a joke, nobody can really control how many issues a particular customer may have to resolve . The agents we have now catch on far faster because we (Coaches) actually help them instead of telling them to use their resources. . It pisses me off when some agents have the nerve to complain about us being slow or they do not feel we are helping them enough. Some people need to suck it up because I personally do the work of 5 people all at once.. So just a word of advice to anyone looking for one of these @home jobs, make sure you are independent and capable of looking up an ext in the phone book you are provided or read and email you were sent about a recent update on how to use your apps and you will be fine. And, as a final FYI.. The pay at Teletech is capped at 9.50 if you are a regular agent.

Misguided Management
Working at home may sound attractive until you consider that you are actually paying the employer for the honor; in this case, Teletech. There are an abundance of “hidden costs”, that most people don’t even consider.
1) You use and pay for additional electricity while you work at home.
2) You pay for the entire DSL billing with no reimbursement from Teletech.
3) You use your own computer to handle Teletech’s accounts, allowing them unlimited access to your personal files and emails.
4) You risk contracting a virus through Teletech’s network because if one computer is infected there is a chance that all may become infected.
Today was my group interview for an alleged fulltime Teletech @Home CSR role; what a disappointment, and I want to report that all the negative things I’ve heard and read about Teletech are true. Not only were the claims of rude and unprofessional management confirmed today, but I found that Teletech is offering an unsubstantial wage of $8.50 an hour with no benefits. Additionally, we were told that we “had” to purchase the Teletech approved headset for our new job in order to “move forward, ” and during this initial meeting candidates were asked to install Cisco Unified Presenter in order to allow our desktops to be shared with and accessed by the facilitator, Whitney.
With a group of 20 potential candidates on our 0930 conference call, Whitney gave the distinct impression that she’d rather be anywhere besides an interview session. She was rude, insolent and extremely totalitarian. Within the first 2 minutes of the group interview, I asked Whitney if she could answer a question (“Is the role fulltime or part-time?) to which she curtly replied, “I only answer questions at the end of the interview, ” which in this case was more than 2 hours away. Even though I was not allowed to ask my question, another candidate confirmed that the role was indeed part-time/seasonal and then excused himself from the event explaining that he needed a fulltime position.
Compounding all of this is the fact that you can be terminated at a moment’s notice. Most recently, a 585-seat center in Amherst, Ohio was downsized to 0 representatives because Teletech claims T-Mobile terminated their contract, and are pulling their customer service in-house. Based upon the new and improved (for Teletech) wage offering of $8.50 per hour to new hires, it seems the motivation for laying off 585 tenured representatives was purely to reign in the output of compensation for employees, and enhance the bottom line.

No good to work for
This company is more concerned with call handle times than customer satisfaction. They have a lot of expectations of you for each call, yet they constantly pressure you to keep the call short. How can you give quality customer service while constantly watching the timer?
They are also not too concerned with your schedule. They change your shift whenever they feel like it to whatever they feel like making it, and it's up to you to try to get someone to switch with you ... good luck with that! My training class had over 25 people, and after 4 months, there are no more than 8 left.
To top it all, the pay is not worth the pressure they put on you, also the verbal abuse from some of the customers.
