Billed for text not recieved
My bill from telus has 800+ incoming text on it but I only received less then 40. They will not credit me and tell me there is no way to permanemtly block incoming text.

home phone service
recently i have made a decision to ditch telus and sign up with Shaw because of poor customer service telus provides. So i had everything setup to port my home phone to shaw from telus on the May 11th but today (may 4th) my home phone service got cancelled. Early morning i called telus and they said cancelled phone numbers cannot be restored. I said i wanted to talk to someone else because things didn't make any sense so the person transfers me over to the service repair department. They told me it will take about an hour for them to restore my service. 5 hours later, my phone still didn't work. Called telus again and this person tells me that my phone service cannot be restored because my number is scheduled to be ported out to shaw a week later. After hearing that i went nuts and the phone got disconnected... big surprise...
I called back and of course a different person picks up and tells me a different story about how their "tech" is working to restore the number and what not and it will take another 3~4 hours. I've had this phone number for 15+ years and if these idiots in their so called helpdesk is telling me it cannot be salvaged because they made the mistake of cancelling the service. i have been with telus for over 5 years and this kind of BS is what made me switch to shaw... When I told them i was going to switch to shaw they started offering me better price with faster internet speed...I asked them why Im only being offerred something better as soon as i tell them that im going to switch and that i've had no offers in the last 5 years. Their answer was "we JUST upgraded the circuit in your area recently"...and I live in west side vancouver where my cousin had 15mbps months ago from telus... I was paying $45 for 3.0mbps connection which is a rip off in this day and age...and they offered me 15mbps which i told them i didn't want because telus has done nothing for me to stay with them. I'd rather go to shaw where i will only be getting 7.5mbps but I won't be with telus anymore... As of may 11th, i will be ending a looooong business relationship i had with telus switching all my home services to shaw (home phone + internet). And i swear telus isn't getting a penny out of my pocket for the rest of my life

horrible customer service
I called Telus to discuss a problem with my bill, not to mention how i called to suspend my service a month ago and they never did. After not being treated well by the attendant, I was put through to a women who was the manager and it seemed like she got a thrill by upsetting me more. Her name was Christina and I feel like she was never properly trained in customer. Her words and tone with me only made me more mad. When i told her i was going to complain she replied "EXCELLENT"... please tell me how a huge company like Telus, has someone like this representing them. I hung up on her and called back and got somewhat of a solution and when my contract is up I plan on canceling my service with Telus and NEVER EVER going to give business to Telus again. I have been with Telus for over 10 years and i have never been through this problem before. This is not how a business should be running with all the money it receives from people like me. One of the frustrating issues is that they don't have a department to deal with representatives that are AWFUL. If you are thinking of getting cell phone service from Telus, DON'T there are many other companies that provide better customer service and better phone service.

Service
We are trying to contact customer service at Telus. We are being asked that some will get back, we tried several times but no one has called.
We want to disconnet Telus TV service and go to another provider who is charging less and giving us more chanels. We are unable to
do so as no one calling us.

Telus network does not work
I purchased an iPhone on the Telus network December 29, 2009. For the first week to ten days it worked okay, but then I slowly started having issues. For example, the phone would constantly search for the Network, only some text messages were sent or received, I could not browse the Internet, and couldn't receive or send calls. I just recently returned home from a business trip and now nothing works on my iPhone. Nothing! I can not send or receive text messages, phone calls, or surf the Internet. It is nothing more than an expensive paperweight.
Telus has created two tickets for me as both my Data and Voice plans do not work. They will not commit to a timeline for any fixes, and at this point I am forced to sit back and suffer their shoddy customer service and even shoddier network; or pay $680 to cancel my contract. This for purchasing a phone on their network that has not worked properly from day one. Their customer service manager told me that they have the fastest network - not exactly the comment you want to hear when your phone is 100% inoperable. At Telus, customer service is an oxymoron. It seems to me the honorable thing to do is to cancel my contract, so that I can purchase a phone from a provider that offers a stable network.
I have spoken to friends and colleagues, and read many similar stories on chat boards - unfortunately only after purchasing my plan. My wife has an iPhone on another network for more than a year without issue, so clearly the problem is with the Telus network, and not Apple.

Misinformation
I switched to Prepaid from a monthly plan with Telus. They told me I had to buy the 'prepaid kit' and could not keep my old number. After it was too late I found out they flat out lied to me in order to get commission. I could have kept my old number, but if they just do a transfer, they don't get commission, whereas if they do a new connection they do get commission. The knowledgeable woman I talked to on the Telus hotline told me this (it's called a DiRe - Disconnect/Reconnect). I think it's a sign of poor integrity when a company gives customers misinformation to benefit themselves at the expense of their own customers. Otherwise I have been happy with Telus but want to get the word out so it doesn't happen to another unsuspecting customer!

Bad Service
On Oct 11, 2009, Telus has a promotion on Telus TV. it is a good deal (I have to say).
Before I sign the contract with telus tv service, I asked the sales several times: "I also need a Internet, but I am worry about the Telus Internet speed.",
The sales say it is okay, he gived a month free to try the Internet service out and he said if it does not work with me, then I can cancel the Internet service any time. and he also marked it on the contract. From the contract says there is no contract on Internet service.
now the bad things came, after I tried out on Internet service, I do not satisfied with the Internet service, the TV service is okay after several times fixes. so I decided to cancel the Internet service. I called Telus to do it.
They said I can not cancel the Internet service and keep the TV service, if I need to cancel I have to cancel both. furthermore, I have to pay the 120 dollar for breaking Telus TV contract.
From the contract, it says no contract on Internet, and sales said I can cancel Internet service at any time.
Right now they denied it, they charge me 120 dollar and asked me to cancel both TV and Internet.
They are a big lie

ripoff
my wife after being signed up with a telus phone for three years heard of the telus laptop giveaway so she signed into an internet contract expecting to get a computer. nothing came so two months later we asked about the deal. now they refuesed her the computer saying she didnot ask for it. ever since she signed up its been a fight with them overbilling us every month! last month they overbilled us 120.00 wich we refuesed to pay so they cut the service.now we won that battle again so were back with service, so they sent us a bill for 50.00 reconnection fees when it was there fault we were disconnected in the first place. in our town they have had the monopoly over the phones so they think they can keep getting away with ripping us hard working people off!!! last weak i heard of majic jack and really cant wait to give it a try.if its as good as they say we will drop these corperate pigs... just another telus victim...

Return of over payment
I over paid my phone bill. Telus would not return my money, or allow me to speak with a person authorized to repair my situation. When I attended their office for the purpose of getting a refund, I was arrested at the request of Telus, taken away by the Burnaby RCMP (police), handcuffed, finger-printed, photographed, and charged with uttering threats. Later I was accused of threatening to take hostiges, although that seems to have subsided. Read my story as attached.

Mobile phone and Internet
I have had the absolute worst service from Telus - and not matter how rationally and calmly I explain this to the Telus customer care, they just dont care. I have to hold for 20, 30, 40 min each time I call.
They disconnected my internet for no apparent reason, and then tried to tell me I should upgrade to business internet to ensure that I receive uninterupted service (and even then, it's not guaranteed, just more expensive). Then they tell me it will be reactivated, which it isnt, and I go back and forth with clueless service agents ... in 3 days, I've spent 4 hours either on hold or reexplaining my situation to them.
They claim a manager will call me back, which s/he never does ... argh.
They've charged my cel phone with long distance and roaming charges I never incurred. And then the agent tried to tell me that if someone from out of town calls me (while I'm still at home), I will incur roaming charges. It took 3 months for them to credit me the wrongful charges.
No wonder they need to force people into contracts. That's the only reason customers stick around as long as they do.
All in all, as someone who has been a Telus customer for 15 years, I am leaving. I am paying the cancellation fees. It's worth it to be rid of this horrible company.
Whatever you do, DO NOT GO WITH TELUS.
