Tempurpedic Reviews

Lousy mattress
We bought a Tempur-pedic cloud. It felt like we were sleeping on the pavement|. We went round and round with Mattress World in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and finally after 4 months, just threw the mattress out|. We could no longer stand to not sleep

They told us to "jump around on the mattress" to break it in.. They told us maybe our room was too cold|. (It was 70 degrees Farenheit);. There was one small strip about 4 inches in from the edge that felt like the bed in the showroom, but no one would come out and look at it'.

There is NO WARRANTY?. Don't believe the TV ads.

Bad experience
I needed a new mattress after a recent hospitalization and was excited to try a Temper-pedic mattress. Wow, was that ever a huge disappointment! The entire experience left me frustrated and sore!

My husband selected one of their best mattresses, and from the moment we first tried to sleep on it we were horribly uncomfortable! With all their advertisements featuring accounts from satisfied customers, I was sure it be the best night's sleep I'd ever had. No way! Sleeping on a slab of bare concrete would've been better!

Words cannot express the depths of our disappointment! It was the most uncomfortable, unyielding and hard mattress I've ever laid on in my life. My husband contacted them in order to arrange for its return, only to have to spend several long, argumentative phone calls with the company in order to get them to agree to pick it up and refund our money. Eventually, after being promised return phone calls that never came and having to pursue them with phone calls of complaint, they told us that we hadn't "broken it in" as we'd been instructed to do when we purchased it.

No, we were NEVER told that we had to "break in" the mattress by walking on it for a half an hour every night before bed! We would not have agreed to such a condition of sale! My balance is very bad and I couldn't even begin to accomplish such a physical feat as that!

After much effort, we finally got them to pick up the mattress and refund our money. I've never before heard of a mattress that had to be walked on in order to break it in! These are expensive mattresses and really should come already broken-in or clearly warn the consumer of that ridiculous requirement before purchase!

Stay away
For the past year I have been having horrible breathing problems. I would wake up gasping for breath, all day I'd gasp and be unable to catch a full breath. I could not understand what was happening to me. I went to the doctor but he could not find what was wrong. I stopped taking all my medicines thinking I was having a reaction to one of them. Over time it was getting worse. I would just be sitting watching TV and no matter how hard I tried to get a deep breath I just could not fill my lungs. I felt like I was breathing through a straw or something. I was so scared and confused. Finally one day out of desperation, I looked up tempurpedic allergies. I found a site filled with other people's stories about their health issues due to this memory foam that is made with toxic chemicals. I only had a tempurpedic pillow. I took it off my bed and got a new, organic pillow. Today is the 4th day I've slept without that pillow and as of today my breathing is almost completely back to normal. I just went through a year of *** due to that toxic pillow. Please do not buy any tempurpedic foam items! It is not worth it!

Causes body pain
Replaced Foster and Stearns pillowtop matress with Tempurpedic Cloud. Pain started from night one and now for 2 months. Both wife and I have woken up with completely numb arms for first time in 24 years. Matress is as hard as a rock and trying to sleep on side is difficult at best. Wife just had spinal fusion surgery which is why we purchased bed. The support the bed offers is too firm and the name Cloud is misleading. I have chronic neck pain that was not present on old bed. Stiffness in shoulders and base of neck persist throughout the day. We strongly recommend against this bed for anyone who has a nervous system. Tempurpedic informed us that it takes time to break the bed in. We will be broken long before the bed is!

no fees were supposed to be charged to me!
You delived my bed to me and set it up. I do like my bed. But, you were not supposed to charge me any fees for paying it off. You told me that.
So why are you charging me fees? I am 82 and cannot afford much more and I am a widow.
I am Jo Ann Danforth and I have had your bed for a few years now.
The only compaint is the bed is so warm to sleep on, but other than that it is great. Is there any cure to render that?

Horrible Mattress - don't waste your money
My husband and I purchased this mattress on the advice of our son and his wife. They purchased their mattress 2 years before we purchased ours and they have never had an issue with theirs. At first the mattress was really hard but we were told that it would soften over time. The 90 day trial period ended and we seemed to sleep better, that is until the softeness of the mattress continued until we could literally feel the platform foundation below us as we tried to sleep. At this point we decided to check the warranty to see what our options were and that's when we saw that the warranty does not cover a normal increase in softness of the TEMPUR® pressure-relieving material and it further states that it does not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the product. BUT IT DOES!!! The softness is not normal and it has caused the pressure relieving qualities of the product to fail. This the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever had. I'm mad that we spent almost $3, 000 on a mattress that we cannot sleep on anymore. We do intend to pursue a refund from the company or a replacement of the mattress and will continue until this issue has been remedied to our satisfaction.

Alergic Reaction / hospitialization
I had a severe allergic reaction to my new tempurpedic mattress and ended up in the hospital. i ordered it from brookestone and it arrived straight from the factory. when i took it from the bag, the smell of it was really intense. its hard to describe, but sort of a strong industrial compound smell--similar to what a five gallon drum of crazy glue might smell like! i slept on my mattress and by morning had developed a sore throat. it was nov. and i didnt think much about it, just thought i might have come down with a cold. the second night was even worse and i could hardly talk the next day. but by the evening it had gotten really bad. i was having trouble swallowing, the little doo hicky in the back of my throat was the size of a giant slug. it filled my throat. even then i still hadent made a eureka ! connection to it being the bed. however, i woke in the middle of the third night unable to breathe. my throat had swollen shut. i ended up in the emergency room. the doctor asked me if i had been exposed to anything that cooresponded with the allergic reaction, like new furniture or carpet, by then i had done the math and realized the intense smell that came off the mattress when it came out of the bag was in fact being released even more as i slept on the mattress as my body weight compressed it. i weighed a measely 125 pounds but as i compressed the foam, it realeased toxic petrolium based fumes. i had to get shots at the hospital and i had to stop using the bed. the doctor said my throat looked as if it had been chemically burned from the inside. i called brookstone and didnt get anywhere and then the tempurpedic company themselves was a joke. they wanted to send me a complimentary travel pillow for the trouble of my throat closing shut. the rep actually confided in me that the mattresses come fresh off the line and are then sent out, so mine was prob only a few days old. the material is petrolium based and many people have allergic reactions fo things like new carpet and other new furniture. she told me that when a person lays on the mattess, it does release fumes. she said it should be put in a seperate room or storage area and allowed to air out for several weeks. i was like !!!. you want me to move this mattress to another part of the house and let it air out so that it will then be safe enough to sleep on?? why not put a warning on it or just let them air out in your own dam house before sending them out to your customers. then, if they just about keel over from the toxic shock because there wasnt a warning, why dont you offer something beside a travel pillow? the mattress was 1400.00, it now sits in a rental house for students, having aired itself out fully in my lungs.

HELL ON EARTH
After much hoopla, I was pushed into buying a tempurpedic bed - i asked the salesperson, and i quote ' IS TEMPURPEDIC A HOT BED? I was told NO!!! I was told that was just an urban legend and was absolutely NOT a hot sleeping bed. My first nihgt i was drenched in sweat, and my mattress was soaked. When i called to retun it, they said i had to pay $300 frt back to the factory - a detail they didnt mention when i bought it. i ended up giving the bed away, and bought a new cooler sleeping bed at a local store in the mall.
