Texstar is the worst company ever, everytime I walked in their office and saw someone looking to rent, i just wanted to be like "turn around, walk out the door and go to colonial, or remax!"
I had a slab leak in my apartment and i put in a work order to be fixed. a week later i still hadnt heard anything from the plumber so called texstar and asked what the hold up was. The girl said that they were waiting for my work order to be approved.
two weeks later the same thing was going on. my work order wasnt approved so i called the plumber myself, and he said that he couldnt come in unless the owner of the buiilding called him. so i put in another work order. three weeks went by of calling and going into the office and nothing happened. by this time my whole downstairs was flooded. My guitar and couches were destroyed and the base boards and cabinets in the bathroom and laundry room were full of thick black mold and growing up the walls. I took pictures.
My roomate also got sick for a month because she is allergic to mold, and if i cleaned the mold up, it would just grow back.
I told texstar that i would not be paying rent for the two months that my house was inhabitable and i had a tester come in and test the mold (who was hired by texstar). I never got the results back and when i asked for them, Kyle wheatly's secretary told me she would not give me my results and i wasnt allowed to see them.
My water bill was 300 dollars and i brought it into texstar and mrs wheatly said that she would reimburse me for the water bill and the slab leak would be fixed pronto.
The slab leak was fixed that day, but there were huge holes left in the wall when the plumbers left.
i demanded that i get atleast a months rent credit and mrs wheatly said she would not give me a credit and that she wasnt paying my water bill. And that she had never seen me before in her life. So i paid half rent because I could not afford full rent after paying a 300 dollar water bill and I started looking for a lawyer.
Within less than a week of me looking for a lawyer, they had sued me for not paying all of my rent and i got evicted. I had a full time job as manager for a restaurant and a part time job as cleaning houses for remax, so i figured instead of hiring a proffessional to come clean my house, i would do it myself.
I got a letter in the mail a month after i had been in a new place (for remax of course, they are great there) and the letter said i owed 1600 dollars in water demage and wood replacement, and also that the house needed to be re-cleaned because it was left "filthy" which were the exact words in the letter.
I decided that it was time to take my case to court, which was 3 months after i had been evicted and after i could get back on my feet, (i was also a full time student, so i was very busy and didnt have a lot of money after paying for texstars damages and not recieving my security dep.) And i dont know what is wrong with the judges in killeen, but they told my lawyer that we would never win because we waited too long after the fact, and told us not to even waste our time.
So that was an extra 1000 dollars i had to pay for a lawyer and i didnt even get to plead my case.
I ended up not being able to register for another semester because I used all the money in my savings account for the 1600 i owed texstar and the 1000 i owed the lawyer. So i enlisted into the Army, and now I am waiting to leave for basic training, because that was my last resort.
And everything is all thanks to texstar.
