I had originally spoken to the evening manager/supervisor regarding the manner in which their 4 hostesses that evening were seating patrons. I had came in to celebrate my husband's birthday along with our 3 children (2 young toddlers and an 10 yr old) and noticed several groups of individuals had been seated before us even though we came prior to their arrival. 1 group that really upset me was a female and her heavy set male companion. They were seated at a booth that would have easily fit my family. At that point, I had to walk over to the eating area and look for a table myself which took me 1 second. Clearly, a table that sat 4 chairs and could accomodate a high chair was readily available. I had to instruct the hostesses how to do their jobs. Their response, "oh you didn't tell us you needed a high chair". Really? After being seated, I complained to the manager, a Persian woman. I stated that customer service and efficiency was key. She apologized. Our server was attentive, we ate and the food was delicious.
As we were leaving, I passed these same hostesses that delayed the usual "Thanks for coming. Enjoy your evening, " salutation. However, my husband who trailed behind myself and our 3 kids noticed the young, african-american hostess with her back turned to me say "f*** you". My husband was completely irrate. And because I really didn't know what was going on, I stepped back in and spoke to the same Persian manager. I told her what had happened and her response was "Oh no I don't think so". What?! So then I asked this manager was she standing there when this happened. She stated "no".
My question is: how does a manager stated "I don't think so" if she wasn't there. Her response should have been, "I deeply apologize for this. I will look into the matter further. May I take your name and number so that we can call you tomorrow after speaking with the hostess and the main managers".
We've been patronizing TGIF since before my children were born, over 12 years! This is the first incident I've ever been treated this way. It's upsetting to know that young individuals like this hostess and the inconsideration of the manager can run an establishment that I enjoy frequenting 3-4 x a month.
Very poor choices are being made in the hiring of employees that make a difference in a patron's experience.
