I had to arrange an apartment for 7 months in Mobile, Alabama while still living in PA. When I called, the man I spoke with told me that rent was $669 plus $20 a month water fee. When I asked about a pet fee and short term lease fee he said there was none. He continued to say that if he was wrong, he would make sure I didn't pay it. So I get down to the apartment ON MOVE in day and go to sign the lease and get my keys when the landlord tells me that there's a $100/month short term lease fee, $400 pet deposit fee, and $20/month pet fee. I was livid!! I had no other choices. I had to move in right then and there because no other apartment complexes had an available unit. The landlord "felt" bad so she waved the pet fee and pet deposit putting my rent at $789/month, which is what it says on the lease. Then two months later I find out that I owe an extra $20 a month for that pet fee and that she never mentioned to the other people working in the office that she waved the fee...and even though the lease says $789, it really is supposed to be $809...they didn't add right.
On top of that when I first moved in I was supposed to have a washer and dryer...I was paying for a washer and dryer. It didn't get installed until a month later. The first week I moved in my shower didn't work. The next week my AC/Heating unit didn't turn off. The next week it didn't even turn on. The next week I got the washer and dryer and it turns out that the dryer vents into the room causing everything to get damp. I'm sure they'll try to charge me for mold. Then I have no hot water for a week. Then my front door's weathering came off preventing me from open the door. I have to throw my shoulder into it. Then my AC/Heating unit is leaking onto the floor...I'm sure they'll try to charge me for carpet damage. The my dishwasher falls out of the hole everytime I use it because the genius who installed it forgot to screw it in. And when I bring this all to the landlord...she says she can' predict the future. Well THANK you for mocking me. But bright idea? Maybe you could check the apartment before renting it out...and lastly you could be a decent person and stop deceiving people or taking advantage of them because of their age.
