The Camera Professionals Reviews

Order
I ordered a Canon HG10 on 6/1/08 at a very very good price. I received an e-mail on 6/1/08 indicating that my order was "pending verification". I then received an e-mail on 6/2/08 that the item I ordered was "no longer available". So, I called Camera Professionals and they told me that the cameras were on order and they would be shipping out in 2 weeks and that I had to do nothing to maintain my order.

I called back on 6/11/08 to verify once again and a different person told me that was not true and that they were not going to ship out. I was then patched through to the "General Manager" and got his voicemail (sure, it was probably a throw away voicemail recorder making people believe they were actually getting someone that gave a hoot about the problem). I left a message and to my surprise the "General Manager" did not call back...very surprising (sarcasm).

Then, I called back 6/16/08 to check on the camera order status again and they told me that my order was cancelled. I asked them why I did not receive an e-mail with an order cancellation and further re-iterated my "story" to the intelligent person on the other end of the phone. I then heard, "your order is cancelled, I don't need to send you an e-mail, I'm not going to charge your credit card, have a nice day. [click]" They actually hung up on me.

If this place doesn't sound like a scam show I don't know what does. I'm guessing they are either involved with bad business or they realized they sold my camera to me at too low of a price so they cancelled it under the falsehood that they did not have any more of the cameras.

Either way, I'll never try to buy from them again nor recommend them to anyone. I'll recommend against them instead. I hope other people read this and don't commit my mistake.

beware of ripoffs
I ordered a Canon SD 1100 IS from the Camera Professionals. Shipped very quickly...received it within 2 days...BUT, it was a different color that the one I ordered, AND I found out later (from Canon) that they ripped me off on the re-chargable ion battery! I was told that the battery that Canon ships with the camera would only last 20 minutes and that I had to buy a battery that would last longer (he sold me one that lasts 4 hours for $50.). I called Canon, and was told that the salesman lied to me...that in fact, Canon ships the camera with a battery that does last 4 hours. The guy at Canon said this was the single most common scam from camera dealers. They simply switch Canon's battery for one of their own, then charge you $50 for the same battery! I was glad I resisted buying any other accessories (he tried to sell me plenty). BEWARE of this scam!!!

Fraud and scam
I order a new digital camera which was advertised as new. I received a refers piece of junk, refused package after xraying the box and seeing it was not packed in factory container. I work in the medical field and have equipment to xray. I also called the camera manufacturer, who told me if it wasn't in the OEM box in was used. Six weeks later my credit card which I only used for this one transaction was all over the US being charged with delivery destination in Brooklyn NY. I never used the card before or after using it to buy at camera professionals. If you are dumb enough to think you will be the lucky one to not get screwed make sure you cancel you credit card and put your phone company on notice as well to look out for unknown changes. These people are scum and jippies who could care less about being legitimate business people steer clear of them at all cost and look on the net for other names they go under. I didn't see these sites prior to ordering but found them just after and canceled the order which was sent anyway. Don't be their next victims

Very untrustworthy company
I had many of the same experiences with The Camera Professionals that others have reported. That is, no notice as to when the product would ship, poor telephone communications, etc. The worst was that I started noticing unauthorized charges on my credit card some three weeks after I canceled my order and about the same time I started to lose concern that I would experience what so many others had experienced. Bottom Line: Stay away from this company.

Sent camera, i did not order
I ordered an s4 nikon 10 power zoom, they sent a p4 nikon 3.5 power zoom in an s4 box. I sent it back and explained what i ordered, i paid the postage and a week later i got the same exact thing sent to me, a p4 in an s4 box. I was charged for an s4 which is more expensive... they wont return my phone calls, faxes or any communication... imo they will wait it out as the shipping charges from new york to calif are astronomical... lastly i took the wrong camera in the right box to the police dept in calif to verify they were shipping things improperly labeled... also i complained to the better business bureau in new york but they advised to drop it as this company has a history of questionable transactions and the money involved is not that much... i also complained to american express, my credit card, but all they care about is the money... i am now going to various camera shops and clubs showing what happened to me and be careful dealing with these people, check your shorts when you complete your deal... its not the money, its the idea that these shysters can get away with this...

Bait & switch
They offered a very good price on an item (Garmin Nuvi 660) and when ordered they stated it was not in stock. They then offered the same Garmin Nuvi 660 with an upgraded package for $55 more and it was in stock. The only addition was some stuff they add worth about $20.

Terrible quality camera
I happen to think that these guys aren't so bad... i mean take the sony sr12 the have on their website for about 595 now best buy has this item for i believe 1350. no how can a small time company ever compete with best best buy... they cant!!! So u will place an order for a this camera for 590 dollars and are so surprised when they tell u it doesn't come with the battery or charger... obviously it comes with it n they know it does but they cant sell it to you for that price so they say the battery and charger cost a huge amount of money... n then u start calling them scammers well you forgot that their original price was 590 they ship that to u they'll lose about 600 dollars... n u know whats funny even if u by it from best buy or this website ur still gonna get the same package but thing is they have to attract customers somehow. I mean the msrp price on n sr12 is around 1400 now best buy buys in huge bulk so they're actually gonna make more money off u then this place does after u spend money on all the "upgrades". So if you only knew cameras and wanted to sell what would u do to compete with giant wholesalers...

Poor service and scam
When I ordered my GPS with the camera “professionals” I didn’t think it would take so long and so much of a hassle to actually get it. I paid for three day shipping in hopes of getting it before my move out of state. About a week went by after I confirmed my credit card information with them by calling them which they kept me on hold for awhile which was annoying. They also tried to get me to upgrade the maps on the GPS but I didn’t want to... and I called them back to see where my order was because it hasn’t come by now. Very poor customer service. There was no e-mail confirmation or anything written or any calls. I was put on hold once again and they kept transferring me to someone else to talk to. And when they asked what I needed help with, they were very rude and never let me finished talking. They just transferred me to someone else right away (so what was the point of me telling them anything?) Finally when I was able to speak to someone, they told me my product wasn’t available. Which was stupid because why didn’t they tell me sooner or at least sent me an email instead of having me wait and to find out myself. & also why would it be in stock when I ordered it but all of a sudden not be anymore? So they told me to wait another week. I wait another week and this time I’m so frustrated and I really need the gps right away because I was moving in 2 weeks. So I call them and again... they kept me on the phone for about half an hour and the same cutting me off while I’m talking. I spoke to a guy and he told me that the gps is available for shipment if I upgraded the maps because the old version is not available. I just gave up and just forked over the extra money for it. I got it in three days for the shipping I paid and it actually came... SURPRISE! But after I talked to that guy I went online and read a lot of reviews about these so called professionals and was horrified when I read that a lot of people were being scammed and had unauthorized purchases made with their credit cards after they ordered through the camera professionals. I was regretting my purchase with them and was debating to cancel my ordered but I just hoped that maybe it wouldn’t happen to me... BUT guess what??? It did. My husband asked me if I spent almost $900 online and I said no... because we had an expensive move out of California to Washington and I would surely not spend that much when we needed as much money as we can for the move. So we called our bank. Luckily we were able to get all that money back after filling some papers out and canceling our debit card and getting a new one. SO BEWARE OF THIS SELLER. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE... ALSO VERY RUDE! SAVE YOUR TIME, ITS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. THEY WILL try to SCAM YOU and STEAL your Hard earned money. The GPS was great but it didn’t come with the manual. I don’t complain a whole lot but this is the worst online shopping experience ever, as a matter of fact the worst shopping experience of any kind in general.

Camera Order
6.2

This company website was found when i was searching for a (nikon) camera on line. I called the company and asked where they were located...answer was Brooklyn, New York...but i have never been able to find an address. The price for the camera was the lowest i found on line (too low i guess) and although i wanted NO accessories...the salesperson was tenacious in trying to get me to purchase accessories and an extended warranty, etc. As the conversation continued i began to feel the salesperson was a little (too slick and also prone to exaggeration) saying the battery that came with the camera was cheap and only lasted (20 minutes) whatever that means. Still i already had batteries and memory cards and a camera bag, etc...from my old nikon camera and i ONLY needed the camera. Finally i placed the order giving my amex info. After the conversation i has an uneasy feeling and searched this company on line and found NUMEROUS complaints all of which were recognizable based upon my conversation with this company. Also i never got an email to confirm my amex order, and amex received NO notification from this merchant of this transaction. I called back over a period of 4 days attempting to speak with the salesman or the customer service department about my concerns...each time i reached the SALES line and began to tell them of my concerns they hung up or abruptly transferred me to a customer service numer that never answered. It seemed my experience was the same as many who have posted complaints. I know the camera business is full of bait and switch and snake oil people and i am going to guess this is one of the professionals at tricking customers. Just a guess...but if i am correct then at least PART of their business name is correct. Caveat Emptor for sure...and WHERE is the attorney general...i will send a copy of this complaint and LINK to the NY State attorney general and the NYC dept. of consumer affairs and i advise everyone with similar experience to be heard. Amex already knows about this but a crafty merchant can go a long way before being cut off by its credit card providers.

Fraudulant Credit Card Charges! - AVOID
AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

I canceled an order and the same day that my VISA card refund was processed, I found that I was signed up to 6 on-line monthly clubs (coffee, software, etc.) using my name, mailing address and VISA card #. The reason I know it was them is that I used a new email address that I had never used for an on-line pruchase and that's where all the confirmation orders came into to. I was lucky in that my VISA card company flagged the charges as abnormal.

These people are down right criminals - purchase from them at your own risk!!!
