They have not refunded my money as promised
I originally purchased a bed at the Door Store for my son in the beginning of Oct 2009. I told the salesman I needed it to be delivered ASAP. He told me he will call within 24 hrs and let me know the delivery date( you have 48 hours to cancel an order). I told the salesman any delivery date longer than 2 weeks and I will cancel the order, my son needed a bed.He did call the next day and told me a delivery date which would have put it at 2 weeks. I said fine. I thought the delivery time was reasonable. Little did I know I was being lied to. Two weeks passed and it was put off another 2 weeks, after the second 2 weeks I went to the store to cancel the order. They told me I could only get store credit?? I paid for the order in full by check which they cashed in 24 hours. They gave me a song and dance about how the bed was coming from Europe and they had to wait until the crate was full because the economy is bad and shipping costs etc. I told them my son needs a bed and enough is enough.I smelled a rat. I went home and went online and lo and behold the door store went into bankruptcy in June 09.I called customer service and demanded my money to be refunded in full., I was given false information when my order was placed, I kept the voice mail of the promised delivery date, I paid for the order in good faith and this was clearly a breach. They assured me a check would be issued in 10-14 days, I had them confirm it by email, today was 14 days I called customer service again, and was told it would take another 14 days. I asked why and they told me the company merged with American Signature Furniture and it will take at least another 14 days for a check to be issued. I asked the man why I should believe that since I have been lied to since placing my order he said "because I say so." I asked him to send me an email confirming the date the check would be issued and he never sent one. I think this will eventually go to court. DO NOT SHOP AT ANY OF THEIR STORES. I finally got everything at Crate and Barrel . The customer service was excellent, delivery within one week. Follow up phone call on satisfaction of delivery and merchandise. They were a pleasure. Shop there or anywhere else.

Do Not Shop Here!
Whatever you do, do not shop at The Door Store if you actually want to receive the furniture you purchase. I purchased furniture from the store 14 weeks ago and have yet to receive the furniture. I was told that all items were in stock except for the dining table, which was backordered 4-6 weeks. After 4 weeks I called to receive an estimate about when to expect delivery and was told that not only was the table backordered but the dressers were, as well. I was told that the dressers would be in after Labor day and to call back then. I did, and was informed that they wouldn't be in until the end of September, along with the table. At that point I started calling every Friday, and each time the story changed depending on who answered the phone. On Sept. 25th I was told that the dressers and chairs were in and could be delivered, but the table now would not be in until the mid-October. I scheduled delivery of the dressers and chairs; however, when they arrived I realized that the dressers were not the ones I had ordered based on the description online. They were not available to view in the showroom, and I needed them to be a specific size to fit into the space available in my small apartment. I confirmed online that they were different than advertised, called customer service and was told to refuse delivery. Before the store had even called me back to discuss the issue they had changed the description and measurements online. Now I have four dining chairs, no table on which to serve meals, and am living out of suitcases.
After some discussions I arranged to exchange the dressers for ones that were in the showroom for viewing and would fit in my space. That was four weeks ago, Oct. 9th. I was told that they, surprise, were backordered 4-6 weeks. I called on Oct. 30th and was told the dressers and table would be in on Nov. 9th. I called again on Nov. 6th and was told that the dressers and table wouldn't be in at least until the last week of November.
At the time of purchase I was offered a 15% discount if I paid with a debit card, which I did. The Door Store cancellation policy is that after 48 hours of purchase a cancellation will not get you a refund; instead, you get store credit. And they take no responsibility at all for "vendor delays". Quite honestly, I am dumbfounded at how this company remains in business. They have taken over $1, 800 of my money, in cash, and have not delivered on their end of the contract.
The bottom line here is do not go to this store, do not go to the Web site, and do not give them your money if you actually want to receive what you purchased.
