I am a professional wedding vendor. I was engaged to provide services at a wedding on Saturday, October 24, 2009. What I am steamed about is that despite the fact that I have a handicapped placard, I was told I absolutely could not park on the property no matter what (even with the placard) and most unforgivably, I was given TOTALLY WRONG information about where the wedding was to be. I arrived 50 minutes prior to my contracted time and was totally set up. Five minutes before the wedding's start time, I was informed that I was at the wrong wedding! My wedding was at another site on the property! And I wasn't the only vendor who was scrambling at the same time.
The result was that I had to move all my equipment (including running to my car which I was forced to park across the street, hundreds of feet away) to the new wedding site. And when I did somehow manage to fulfill my contractual obligations to the bride, I was then told I was forbidden to leave the property. I was in a full asthmatic attack at this point (caused from running like crazy in spite of my handicaps due to the wrong information/refusal to let me park onsite in handicapped parking) and was then FORBIDDEN to leave. I was held prisoner. When I told them I was in a full asthma attack, I was told, "Would you like a glass of water?"
I will never, EVER route a bride to The Farm at South Mountain, and I will be informing every other wedding vendor I deal with about this incident. Sometimes things happen that are nobody's fault. But when a handicapped person is forbidden from using open, unoccupied handicapped parking, given the wrong information, and then held prisoner after the wedding, I object! Brides, beware!
