My name is Maranda Slaton. I moved to the lodge at Legacy with the high hopes that I would be residing in a decent apartment complex with a knowledgeable management team. To my great disappointment that is not the case.
The day that I moved in my lease agreement had not been typed up, and my keys to my apartment had not been made. On top of that, one of the keys that I was given to my apartment did not work.
When I got to the apartment to move in the only thing that was right about the apartment was that the carpets had been cleaned. I walked in to find that the kitchen (including the refrigerator, the stove, the sink, the floor, and the dish washer), the patio (including the storage room), and the bathroom (including the sink, bathtub, toilet, vent, and the floor) had been cleaned. All of the vents had dust and what appeared to be mold in them, and there was a strong odor of mold in the bathroom. When I went to turn on the lights, there was no power in the apartment. I flipped the switches inside the apartment and called Oncor. When I went outside there was no meter; it was completely gone.
About a week into my stay in my apartment, I began to spell mold a little more. After a while, I developed headaches, abdominal pains, dizziness and confusion, and nausea. When I went into the bathroom and opened up the cabinet underneath the sink I smelled very strong mold. I then lifted up the bottom part of the cabinet and discovered a great deal of black mold and fuzzy green mold.
When I went to management, they reacted as if it was not an urgent matter. After a day and nothing had been done about the mold problem I went to the office to get away from the smell. During that time I observed the management styles and habits of the “professionals” in the front office. There was not a professional bone in any one of their bodies. They were cursing, speaking in a very vulgar manner and talking bad about many of the residents. They did not even ask me if they could help me or even care if the problem in my apartment had been fixed. There were dogs in the front office and they were even talking about misusing the golf carts delegated to the apartment complex to go to fast food places.
The neiborhood is very dirty; it looks nothing like to pictures that they have posted on Apartments.com. The residents in my area park anyplace they please, even if it is in the fire areas. The managers have treated me as a nusence just because I am bringing to their attention the inadiqucies in my apartment. I am very sure that none of them would want to be subjected to any of the living conditions that I have been subjected to in the short week that I have lived there.
