They are contracted by overseas moving companies and once they have your goods always add extra exorbitant charges . If you refuse to pay, they hold your goods ransom charging per day storage until you pay.
I contracted Elliott's international ( SA based company )to move my household goods from SA to New Zealand and paid door to door. Once my goods arrived in NZ, I dealt with The Moving Company, and they claimed I had to pay NZ$1200 for my goods to be delivered as I lived rural ( 18 km from the centre of town) . When I complained that I had paid door to door, they refused to release my goods and wanted to charge me per day of storage . I contacted Elliot' s which was not much help, until I complained on website Hello Peter, which is the equivalent of complaints board. Then only did I get a reply from Elliot's CEO with a refund " as a sign of good will". The Moving company has a reputation for always finding excuses to charge extra to its clients . I have spoken to people that have relocated to NZ and all have a story to tell about these mysterious charges. A friend of mine is still waiting for 2 months for them to deliver his container and they have every excuse under the sun why its not delivered, plus his goods have been badly damaged .
