I purchased a condo unit at The Phoenix in Philadelphia, and as part of the agreement of sale was told that I would be given a free parking space. This sealed the deal for me! After the first month of being in the unit, I received an invoice from The Phoenix, indicating that I owed them $150 for the month for parking!! The invoices have been coming for months - I have refused to pay these, and showed them my agreement of sale, which has an addendum that states - "Free Parking License"!! Well, I was told that I didn't read the condo binder closely enough because it states, in a very gray fashion, that yes, I do own a 'parking license' which I paid $0 for, but secondly, the company has the right to charge for parking because it is valet service only. I am still trying to figure out where "free parking" come into the equation... Needless to say, this issue has been escalated to a legal matter. Oh, the kicker is that parking rates were increased by 67% this year. Initially, the rate was $150/month; now, it is $250/month!! Talk about inflation!!
Buyer Beware!!!
