The Removal Group Reviews

JeromeMK May 18, 2011
The Removal Group
We've just finished my move from the UK, back to the continent, and we've experienced one of the worst situations ever. Moving is always stressful, but this bunch of incompetent people who will make your life miserable.
We decided to use this broker in January 2011, given the rates proposed and having contacted a few other moving companies/brokers. Our first big mistake was to not check the customer reviews on the web before making the decision. There are so many similar stories…

First, this is just a broker company, and they do not evaluate the volume of the shipment. The estimate given was far too low, and this resulted in a significant increase of the total amount to be paid. Anyway, at the beginning of the process, they seemed to be responsive and helpful. But, once they receive the money, you’re screwed. This is when the nightmare starts, as it becomes impossible to get any reliable information or communication from them: Just vague information and lies!
Even for getting the additional amount to be paid, resulting from the initial underestimation, they are not able to add two numbers correctly. We had to do it ourselves several times, and it takes quite a lot of energy to manage these people.
Having our goods in storage, we then decided to inform them more than 6 weeks in advance to plan for a delivery date in early May. After about 10 emails and many phone calls or so, we struggled to receive any clear information about this. Then, after so many attempts, we did manage to have Matthew Liscott on the phone and had his “confirmation”: “Yes, this date has been confirmed with the moving company”. Being a bit naïve and already tired of the situation, we took it as granted (Second mistake). They never sent any confirmation by email, despite all our requests.

10 days before the delivery date, once again, I wanted to re-confirm the delivery date with them. As usual, no answer to any of the emails… I however succeeded in talking to Stuart Hall over the phone. Looking at “the notes” from his colleague Matthew Liscott, he then mentioned that the delivery date would be a few days later than the original one, and that the final delivery couldn’t be done without the payment of the outstanding balance… Which was never communicated or explained to us before!!! A real Joke?!!!
As my trust in those guys was going rapidly down, I’ve therefore attempted to find-out and contact directly the moving company to get some reliable information. Fortunately for us, the moving company that did the packing of our stuff was also the same one that would do the delivery abroad. I’ve explained to them the situation, and they were helpful and responsive! (Thanks to them!!!). They confirmed that our stuff was still in storage, and there was no delivery planned!!! They proposed to contact the removal group to get further information. The day after, probably following the attempts from the moving company to contact TRG, Stuart Hall sent us an email (A miracle!!!) mentioning that the moving company advised that they did not load the goods for the following week (As initially planned), as the payment issue was still unresolved (??? Funny…). He also mentioned that the next possible delivery date would be during the following week, and that he advised them to proceed with booking delivery for that following week. Then, I quickly called back directly the moving company to double-check this. None of this was true, as he never contacted them back. Furthermore, the moving company also confirmed that the first available date would be later during that month. The moving company then proposed me a possible date, and pushed TRG for getting the approval. After further calls, follow-up emails, TRG did it!!! (And the confirmation came from the Moving Company of course…).
(I have kept the proofs of this story. We were very close to push this forward: We had a letter (It’s always good to know a lawyer…) stipulating the breaches of contract and preparing an injunction for them to deliver the goods - This was ready on the day we received the confirmation of the delivery from the moving company)

In a Nutshell, they are clearly incompetent and a bunch of LIARS. They don’t care about anything, and I don’t even understand WHY people who are running a small business may behave this way…

PLEASE DON’T USE THEM!!!

If there was an option on their website i would rate this company as zero stars, on

leaving negative feed back i was prompted that my reveiw would be checked i 48 hours

and if acceptable added to their site, not so impartial then! i also find it hard to

believe that the reviews on their site are at all genuine as Google tells a different

story, we used this broker in our move to Canada regrettably for us, no communication

or updates from our coordinator nathan, it was only on my wife calling on the date

that our belongings were supposed to have arrived in canada that there was any

investigation, this was when we were told that our items were still at port in the UK

and had infact not left when we were told they were going to which was the end of

march, our so called move co-ordinator was blissfully unaware and in his own words

took it as read that our belongings had left when the shipping company had advised

they were due to, i would have expected someone to check this on the due date but

maybe thats just me, i was then told that it wouldnt leave for at least another two

weeks and we will be lucky if we even see it at the beginning of June. no

communication or updates from this company they just take your money and leave you

hanging, if my wife hadnt called when she did we still wouldnt be any the wiser and

certainly the removal group wouldnt have a clue that our property was still back home,

total joke and a bad one at that.If you really want a hassle free move and to see your

belongings ever again avoid this company like the plague, we also paid nearly £4000

and as compensation were offered an insult of £100, that will go far in clothing my

two little girls when the weather gets hot over here and we all have nothing but

winter clothing. Thanks removal group we gave you £4000 and you gave us the finger.
I also found these details on one of the hundreds of complaint sites about this

company, and i am also quite shocked that they are still in business considering the

sheer volume of complaints.

I advise you not to use this company
In November 2010 we made an agreement with The Removal Group to pack our belongings on 3 Jan 2011 and uplift them 4 Jan 2011. We paid in full for their service prior to 3 Jan. The Removal Group did not turn up until 5 Jan despite desperate phone calls, they never returned a call and when we eventually got through we were spoken to rudely and treated as an inconvenience. When they did arrive they had no packing materials and we did not have materials to pack our belongings. When they eventually left with our belongings we received a call the next day saying if we wanted our belongings back we had to pay another £2100 as they had 'mis-quoted' us.
we then did not see our goods for another 28 days and we believe the only reason this eventually happened was because we threatened legal action. the non-communication continued and it was only because we were told the name of the company who would be uplifting our belongings and we contacted them directly.
When our belongings arrived there was a lot of damage to our goods. we are still waiting to hear back regarding the insurance we took out with them.
PLEASE do NOT use this company. in my opinion they are a bunch of con men.

AN UTTER JOKE!! STAY AWAY- STAY AWAY!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY-THYE WILL CAUSE YOU NOTHING BUT GRIEF AND STRESS!
NOT ONCE AFTER OUR ITEMS WERE PICKED UP HAVE THEY GOTTEN IN TOUCH WITH US.MY SO-CALLED MOVE COORDINATOR REBECCA MASSEY IS A WASTE OF SPACE, ALONG WITH THE OTHER FOOL OF MAN I HAD TO DEAL WITH THERE, MATTHEW LISCOTT. UNPROFFESIONAL DOWN TO THE CORE, PRIOR TO PICK UP THEY WOULD CALL AND REPEAT INFORMATION ALREADY GIVEN, AND NOT BE AWARE THAT WE HAD ALREADY SPOKEN TWO HOURS PREVIOUSLY ABOUT THE SAME THING.
THEY ARE AN ONLINE BROKER FIRM AND DO NOT MOVE ANY ITMES THEMSELVES- THIS IS A GOOD THING AS IF THEY WERE IN CHARGE OF REMOVING ANYTHING IT WOULD MOST LIKELY BE SENT TO THE WRONG SIDE OF THE WORLD. OUR ITEMS WERE MOVED BY BRITTANIA, AND THIS PART ALL WENT WELL, BUT IT SAYS AN AWFUL LOT ABOUT A COMPANY WHEN THE DELIVERY MEN CANT EVEN GET HOLD OF THE COMPANY.
OUR ITEMS WERE PICKED UP 15/10 IN LONDON- THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD INFORM US WITHIN 7 WORKING DAYS OF WHEN OUR ITEMS WOULD BE DELIVERED. THIS NEVER HAPPENED. BELOW IS AN ACCOUNT OF WHAT HAPPENED: (EXTRACT OF EMAIL SENT OR REMOVAL GROUP-NO REPLY AS OF YET...SURPRISE SURPRISE..)

I received a call from my brother whilst at work who told me that two english men were outside our house asking for my partner David. They had attempted to call you since friday, but surprise surprise you were IMPOSSIBLE to reach. That sounds familiar! They were the removal guys from Brittania, who had no other option than to come to us directly.HOWEVER, they had not been informed by you that there were height restrictions on a nearby railway bridge-which I had told you about. So they were unable to deliver. I had to arrange for a separate car to pick my thing up where the lorry can go no further. Needless to say(however I doubt you actully understand anyway) this has caused me considerable extra work, stress and expenses.

ANYONE PLANNING A MOVE, PLEASE GO WITH A COMPANY APPROVED BY THE REMOVAL OMBUDSMAN!
sTAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE NOT WORTH THEIR OWN WEIGHT IN SHIT.

Cyberlawyer- incredible!
incredible! I posted a complaint about the Removal Group, probably a two years ago. And This is the e-mail I have received today from their "lawyer"... Listen "Removal Group", if your company was putting its money into working on its customer service instead of a "cyber lawyer" in the first place, you might be in a better place right now. this is truly appalling. I was actually asked TWICE to join a lawsuit against this company over the past year and did not think it was really worth the trouble (some other people apparently had much worse experiences that we did). Having received such an offending threat from this company, I certainly will now help anyone who has had trouble with them!
See below.. I am actually thinking of sending this to BBC's "Watchdog"...

Terrible service
Bad service, totally unprofessional and committing daylight robbery. How this company is still allowed to operate in the UK i have no idea, its amazing. Do not go with them, you will deeply regret it, go to other sites to read the reviews - ciao is a good one - although be careful to sort through all their fake review which they post themselves, easy to spot since they are the only positive reviews on there.

Bad service
As with the other complaints i've seen posted here about this Group, they are a bunch only interested in you until they receive your payment, after that forget any communication. I've had to phone repeatedly to get removal dates - they still can't give me a delivery date. The whole process at the company is driven by securing the sale, this means they are willing to say anything they think you want to hear. if you decide you do want to go with this company make sure the promises they make you are done in emails. they will phone you first of all and promise this that and the other but never in writing, so please ensure you protect yourself. really awful people, awful company, any positive reviews you've read will have been posted from them - several other unhappy customers i've made contact with have told me this too.

Moving
THEY ARE AWFUL! The Removal Group picked up our furniture in Italy after giving us a written quote and reconfirming the amount on the day of the move, then wanted 50% more it after they took the goods, even though on the day of the move, told us everything was fine.

When the goods did arrive in the US 3 months later items were broken. We purchased damage insurance before the move from them and now they won't call us back. This company is the biggest nightmare in the world. I would be happy to tell anyone how bad it was. I am in the US at 617-536-0878, ask for Andrew.

I have attached some photos of broken marble tops, table legs, glass shelves and antique mirror frames. BEWARE!

Poor service
I do not recommend this company, they over charged me by £400.oo on the day of collection. They quality of movers was very poor and damage to lots of furniture!

I just got excuse and fobbed off by the staff, who dont seem to care about you or your goods once they have taken the money.

Stay away from this company!
