I went to get my window tinted from The Tint Depot on 25MARCH09. I had been referred to The Tint Depot by another window tint shop because they did not have their tinter available at the moment. When I turned my car over to be tinted at The Tint Depot, I noticed that he did not bother to clean the windows before he had tinted it. Not thinking anything of this, I continued to watch him do the job to my car.
As I watched in disbelief, he continued to put on the window tint on my dirty car windows. (Now you tell me, if you go to the doctor's office, doesn't he disinfect his tools before he uses them on the patient in order to prevent infection? Wouldn't cleaning my windows to ensure that there is no dirt on them be the most logical thing to do in order to prevent dirty from getting underneath the film?).
After about 45 minutes, my car was ready. He assured me that bubbles within the first several days were normal. He said that if they remain under the windows, to return and he would honor his work. He reassured me that he had been in business for 7 years. (Making me to believe that there should not be any problems with the tint job).
Unfortunately, after waiting an entire week, the bubbles and dirt specs failed to disappear (as I had suspected). I went back to complain about the dirt specs and bubbles, however, he said that he would not redo my back window. He then put the blame on the car and said that the window was dirty from the tint job before and that he can not redo the window tint again. (How is this my fault that he failed to do his job and ensure that the surface was clean to begin with?)
After feeling cheated, I wanted to get a second opinion from another window tint shop down the street. I let the tint shop from down the street know my situation. I had them look at the window tint job and they pointed out these deficiencies:
1. The Tint Depot failed to clean the back window prior to installation. This is obvious due to the dirt specs and bubbles that were under the window tint.
2. There were two noticeable vertical creases in the back window.
3. There were relief cuts on the defroster lines. (If I find out that my defrosters do not work, I will need to get a new window.)
4. They used two different window tint shades (Blue and Brown).
The next day, I called The Tint Depot back and let them know about what the other shop said. The Tint Depot manager became irritated that I was asking for my money back and decided that he was not going to hear my complaint or honor his warranty for his shoddy work. He then proceeded to say, 'You're an idiot, sue me then! Bye!.' And hung up the phone on me. Is this good customer service when someone who provides you shoddy customer service fails to honor his promise for warranty? What ever happened to quality? Is this how we treat military veterans who have fought for their country?
