Why should it cost over a million dollars to school 30 children? The Town of Swans Island,
Maine has a school budget of over one million dollars. Only 30 or so children attend the school and less than a dozen attend high school in a neighboring town. Property taxes and other fees are at unexplained rates because the local officials claim they just know from experience what the sums should be, then when pressed the standard excuse mantra is "The school budget". Some one is using this town as a revenue stream. There does not seem to be any real accountability.
