The Wedding Holiday Reviews

83cky June 3, 2011
Worst service ever
Once my wedding was done, I vowed to make sure no one else would have to deal with the Wedding Holiday. I want to post this in as many places as possible as a warning to brides to avoid this company unless The Wedding Holiday shape's up. Everything I say here is documented in emails, so it cannot be taken as slander. It is all fact.
I really wanted to book my wedding at Azul Sensatori, unfortunately it seemed that the only way to do this in Canada was through The Wedding Holiday. They were so nice at first, very helpful, but were pressuring me to book ASAP or risk losing my date. They required a $250/deposit per guest, and said if I reserved 20 spots right then, they would give me one passenger free. Not knowing how many people would want to go, I declined, and the offer was never made to me again. Lorraine also asked if I was interested on having my wedding filmed for TV, but never pusued it further. Once they had my money, I was transferred to an agent and never spoke to Lorraine again.
The first agent I dealt with seemed pretty good. However, she gave her two week's notice and departed without booking the upgrade she said she had booked. We were double charged, over-charged, misbooked, left without contact, it took over 1.5 months to get a refund. The nightmares were endless! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Atrocious customer service
DO NOT EVER BOOK YOUR DESTINATION WEDDING GROUP WITH THESE *FOOLS*. When you attend an initial consultation with them, they boast of their excellent record and how they have wonderful relationships with all these different airlines/hotel chains. They also claim that because of these strong relationships they are able to snag all sorts of discounts and freebies, especially for Bride and Groom. Best of all, their wedding planning services (by a certified wedding planner, no less) are absolutely "FREE" and completely included when you choose to book a group through them. So, once they've wooed you with those promises as well as a collection of beautiful bridal photos and of sunny beaches and 5-star hotels, you figure you're in for such a treat, right? Someone will plan your whole wedding down to the last detail and it is much less stressful than going on your own, right? WRONG!!! ...WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! Once we paid a hefty $2500 deposit to book a block of 5 rooms for 10 guests (that is the MINIMUM by the way), all e-mail contact and phone contact STOPPED. You call them, they will never call you back. You e-mail them, you MIGHT get an e-mail back 2 weeks later if you follow up with them at least twice. You think this is bad, get this: when we gently pointed out to them that we "chose to trust The Wedding Holiday with our group booking, and wish for them to follow through on their promise to help us plan our wedding", their response was "well I can see on your file that you declined to purchase our premium wedding planning services for an additional $2500". We said, "we were never offered the option to purchase premium planning services, ALSO, you had said wedding planning with the certified wedding planner is included free of charge as long as we book all travel through you." Their response, "So do you want to purchase the premium package or not?!" They had then threatened to cancel our group booking and completely stop working on our wedding unless we started being more reasonable and less demanding. I hadn't realized that e-mailing your travel agent 3-5 times over the course of 3 months was considered "excessive and unreasonable", especially considering that our travel group consists of a minimum of 65 guests, who all approached us with different questions regarding booking a space for themselves into our wedding group. To top it off, if you asked the SAME question to 3 different staff members there, you will get 3 contradicting answers (we had to test our theory [after receiving MONTHS of terrible service] that this group of people actually really don't have ANY idea what they're doing). Something as simple as "one extra guests would like to book a room, when is their initial deposit due by?" is met with an answer such as "well I don't know, within a week is fine I guess" (and in this situation, ALL guests' deposits are not due until 3 MONTHS from now...so...why is that one guest's deposit due within the week? no explanation). And now we find out that we could have gotten a better deal if we had just called Air Transat vacations and booked our own group directly through them and worked with a Transat agent throughout the whole booking process. So now, we are stuck with a stupid middle-man who has NO clue what they're doing, and we've paid about $120 too much PER GUEST.
Let this be a lesson for everyone, The Wedding Holiday = The Biggest Wedding NIGHTMARE
