I contacted Darren Burleson of Pawfessionals Dog Walking and Petsitting Services, who said he was located near me in Greenwich, CT, to provide petsitting services (feeding, watering, and removal of cat feces from the litter box to the garbage) twice a day for the time I would be out of the country on a business trip, to start 12/17/10 and to end 12/23/10 at midday, as I was returning home at 6pm. Darren said that the petsitter would perform a morning visit on the last day as well as a midafternoon visit, but I arrived home to find the cat box area stinking with cat feces and the kitchen garbage can having been moved to this room, left with the top off, and a week's worth of cat feces left for me to remove to the garbage, which the petsitter had said she would remove daily to the garbage outside, next to the house. The petsitter also arrived two hours after I returned home on 12/22, at 8pm, to do the second visit, apparently not having been notified by the agency that I had changed my return date to 12/22 instead of 12/23 as I had earlier informed them and then corrected. They assured me that the second visit would be performed in the early afternoon so that my cats would not be alone all day. I had also asked for updates while I was away and did not receive a single one until I chased these people down by email, and they sent me an automated response on 12/22, which did not do much good after having been worried all week about my animals. I trusted these people to perform the kind, efficient services they promised to deliver. Instead of keeping the house clean and orderly, as I had left it, the petsitter moved the kitchen trash to my office area where the catbox is to lighten her workload, and it had been tipped over by the cats as she had not bothered to put the lid back on it after she moved it. Obviously she didn't know I had told the agency I was coming back a day early, and thus she was caught in the act of performing her sloppy service before she had a chance to clean it up on the last visit, to her surprise. When I complained to Darren Burleson, he became very indignant and defensive, and stated that whenever they perform two visits on one day, they schedule them 12 hours apart, contrary to what both he and the petsitter had advised me they would do, which was perform an early afternoon visit the day of my return to ease the anxiety of my animals. Obviously they didn't think they would get caught. I wrote a check per the ok by the petsitter with the postdated date of my return on it, and after speaking with Darren on the telephone, in which he verbally abused me and denied any responsibility for the poor services rendered, also failing to offer any apology or refund for the horrendous performance of his petsitter, he advised me to cancel my check and I did so. However, he apparently tried to deposit it anyway, and although I canceled it, he claims there were insufficient funds. Then he emailed me on New Year's Eve and attempted to harrass me by continually calling my home phone, then my cell phone, then my home phone, then my cell phone, etc. to try to harrass me enough to get me to pay for the horrible services I received. I advised him that I would be willing to pay for just the food and watering for the days she performed then, and nothing else, and he told me he'd sue me for theft of services. Well, the fact is he didn't perform the services properly, tried to harrass me personally on a holiday and other occasions, and he lied about being local to my residence, which was intended to lure me into a false sense of security thinking that he was available in case of emergency whilst in charge of my animals' health and safety.
He played with the health and safety of my cats and my home, sent a disreputable petsitter who performed sloppy services and who did not complete the services promised. He also lied in order to gain the job assignment from me and my business, which is fraud. He refuses to provide a local address although he claims he maintains one. His pet sitter's negligence regarding the trash and leaving the lid off the kitchen garbage can in the room where the catbox was allowed the cats to tip the bin over and as a result, $350 of damage for cleaning to the wood floors was caused which he refused to pay for. He should be ashamed of himself for conducting a business in this deplorable way, acting like a Drama Queen instead of the apologetic business owner he is supposed to be.
