Needs to have license revoked
When a dentist doesn't know the difference between a simple extraction and full blown impacted wisdom teeth, it's time to run as fast as you can out of the office. I brought a full mouth set of xrays from my sons orthodontist to this dentist for a professional consultation. He said he could pull all four teeth, because they were all simple extractions. I made the appointment and took my son in. It took them an hour and half to pull only one of the teeth. You can only imagine why. After hammering, digging and cutting (with only novocain) my son was literally traumatized and could barely stand afterwards. His dad and I had help him out to the car...almost carrying him. They did not prescribe any antibiotics and his incision got infected. His mouth was as big as a grapefruit. Two days later I took him to an oral surgeon who prescribed antibiotics and he was shocked that Thomas McGarity attempted to pull full blown IMPACTED wisdom teeth and should have known the difference. It took 10 days for his swelling to go down and the infection to go away. We waited a couple of more weeks and went back to this oral surgeon who removed the remaining 3 impacted wisdom teeth in less than 30 minutes. No swelling and recovery only took less that 4 days. I spoke with McGarity's office assistant Judy, who is an angry old women that needs to retire and she stood by their unprofessional diagnosis that my son's teeth were not impacted. They owed me money as I paid an advanced co-pay for 4 extractions. They actually billed my insurance company (Aetna) for work they never did (fraud) and had to pay the insurance company back after I called and complained. They are listed in the preferred provider network under Aetna. The assistant Judy refused to send my refund and seemed to take great joy to giving me a difficult time. I did receive a small refund, only after they tacked on charges. They were going to get something out of it. Beware of those perferred providers from your insurance company...I do not recommend this dentist and feel he should lose his license to practice dentistry. His employees are angry, rude and have no buisness being front line office personnel.
