Word of warning about booking a Thompson cruise holiday. My wife and I booked cruise for next September 2011 and Thompson wrote to us and said a number of the destinations had been changed and would not be visited in 2011.

This changed the holiday completely for us and we did not want to go on it. We had already paid £300 deposit and were told we could not have our money back as their conditions state that we could only book another cruise or loose our money. As this was the only one we wanted to go on we did not want to go on another cruise.

On the other hand there conditions state they can cancel a cruise and an arrogant Thompson representative stated that they could change the cruise to visiting the Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and other UK ports and there is nothing you can do about it.

I have booked a number of Thompson holidays over the years but never again. Their conditions are not fair and they could not give a fig once they have your money. Every cancellation is extra money in their pocket - our holiday was in 11 months time and I can’t see how any charges could have been incurred.
